In a game as advanced as Fortnite, controller players had no business competing with anybody using a keyboard and mouse. But 2 years after the game’s release, they were completely terrorizing the competitive scene. At one point, 80% of players in every major tournament played on controller, but today, that number has plummeted to under 10%. So how does a community that makes up 3/4 of the entire playerbase struggle to compete at the highest level? This is the rise and fall of Controller players in Fortnite.

Also let's not forget during fortnite release controller players was also stuck with holding down on their edit button which also gave them a huge disadvantage against keyboard and mouse players. That was until they added custom controls in chapter 1 season 6 where controller players were able to customize their edit bind to whatever they wanted it to be

Maybe a good way to help controller players a bit without buffing aim assit is to let us choose different imput curves for building, ads and non-ads sens. Since expo is better for ads, tracking and long range taps, linear is way better for building/editing, and both can be used for non-ads (linear might be better tho), being able to have expo ads and linear for non-ads and building/editing could be really helpful for lots of controller players.

You can turn linear into expo sens using boosts and timers, everything you mentioned already exists
@@ambience8400 Nah it's not the same, not even close. I've tried it already a lot of times and its not the same, as the boost only adds speed when you move your right stick near its limit, which means it only adds speed to your sens when its reaching its max (it doesnt affect the 0-90% of the stick path, it increases your sens past that 90%) so it doesnt allow you to make those microajustements while aiming that expo do and have that very slow movements at first that start ramping up like an e^-x math function the more you move your stick.There is a reason why a lot of pros think expo is way better for ads tracking but still use linear and don't use boosts. It's just very inconsistent, and not near as smooth and predecible as expo(Sorry if i didn't explain it well, I'm Spanish)
ZB is a different story though. More than half of all the guys on top of the leaderboards in ZB are on controller and using a zen...

Controller need aim assist otherwise it's un usable in battle royale people just don't get it , as a controller player I have never been consistent in any game because the games start out as all players learning the game whether using keyboad , mobile ,or controller but after patches controller players in every battle royale gets nerfed and nerfed to the point you cant even aim , this is because people keep complaining about controllers being broken thats why many controller players cheat lol like you got to make your own aim assist 😂

Controller just isn't competitive. There's a reason CSGO has no aim assist.
An input system that takes away control of the player but also lacks the accuracy to aim requiring aim assist to even compete with keyboard and mouse is just dumb.
Clearly you’ve never played apex legends that game is dominated by controller 70% of all players are controller majority of all pros have or are in the processs of switching to controller that average controller player has an over 30% better kd than the average kbm player and all pros are open to admit controller is far superior than kbm it’s basically Fortnite with roles reversed it’s a fun game but it fell of hard and the game is in a decline rn.

Yea I was surprised when I went to other games as Fortnite is my main shooter and other games I just use kbm and I heard alot about aim assist in apex and I was blown away by the sheer amount of tug and legitimately rotating your camera for you. In apex you can let go of the stick and just walk back and fourth and it will track a still enimie for you.
Same. My friend said I beamed him because of my aim assist (I clipped it cause I literally didn’t miss once lmao). I turned it off and there was no difference. It’s literally useless. I’m practicing kbm now
I think the introduction of duos and no siphon is a big reason to why there arent many up and coming controller players. Many great controller players of today started out as fraggers and in a trio its easier to have a designated role.

They should turn of cross-play to fix this issue. Although when you are playing in a tournament such as the FNCS cross-play would turn on. It would also turn on if you’re playing with a different console than you.

They should just make better settings on controller ( like the ability to have linear builds and expo aim , adding a scoped sensitivity, adding an actual build and edit sense instead of it just multiplying and being based on your normal sense , ect. Those things would help out controller at least a decent amount.

I play on switch, so the worst of the worst, and I feel like aiming is like making 1 million a day. As you said scoped weapons have No aim assist and even if there isn't a scope, aim assist still is useless, making expo much better for aiming but far worse than linear for building and editing. And boosts and ramp times don't allow to have expo aim on linear. In my opinion, becoming the best with controller is almost impossible and I agree that, without any changes kbm will always be better. The only good changes I can think of are either buffing aim assist,make us have the options to choose different inputs for building, editing, ads and non-ads or make a new input that mixes expo and linear
They should buff aim assists for console 💀, especially last gen

@@JaxsYT-_- there is console pros some even qual for fncs and etc, just not every console player is built like that yk? they rather make excuses of being on 120fps and "so much input delay" while on 0 - 20 ping. While there shit looks less delayed than my pc on 360fps and 60-80 ping ( east )

@@VecPancake the fps is an entire disadvantage as a whole, I literally got noticeably better almost instantly just from moving to ps5 from ps4 and arm it can only run 60fps due to my tv not running 120, so I actually got better just from being able to a stable 60 fps instead of 30-40 and the occasional 60.
Also fps plays a major role in Fortnite fights, that and ping

I never understood why epic turned on cross play. Pc players are complaining about it and console players are complaining about it as well. Why would they do that?
Because without cross play I wouldn’t be able to play with my friends on console that don’t own a pc
I know a simple solution : they should put you in console lobbies , but if you or one of your teammates are on pc you should be put in pc lobbies
controller just needs something to buff it mechanically. I have no clue what that would be, but it would be nice.

I hope aim assist don’t become op again in main modes, but it would be fun if they made it like a game mode, or it could be added a device in creative to have the old aim assist .

I started off playing on switch during the vibes season,on switch due to the generous FPS cap of 30 that isn’t very consistent. I used the Gyro controls and honestly they felt so smooth and after switching to the PS five and seeing the vast difference in Gyro controls from what Nintendo has compared with the PS five,it’s kind of sad because honestly if they gave a good Gyro update for ps and Xbox I truly believe controller will be almost better then if not equal to mouse

The issue is deadzone bug because not deadzones do not register properly on playstation controllers making up the majority of controllers played with. Easiest way to explain what this is is let’s say your playing 5% Right stick deadzone it will register at around 9% for some reason causing stiffness and long rage aim impossible because you can’t make micro movements Everyone quit the game after. epic needs to fix

The bugs where you lose aim assist is still here in chapter 5 and is probably not going to be fixed anytime soon. Epic just dont care about controller players on PC, they care about consoles whic have a OP aim assist to keep more players, it' just bad to see controller so ignored and not even fixibg bugs
Console aim assist isn’t op anymore either. It is so weak now compared to what it used to be. My aim assist even has the same problem on console where it just randomly turns off

Stick drift depends on the controller type Sony which makes play station controllers had a lawsuit because of how bad stick drift is on their controllers so if u have stick drift buy a better controller
