Such a cool trip. Christ Jesus is my Lord and Savior and I don’t ever feel bad listening to Rhymesayers especially the nostalgia from feeling on top of the world Senior year in high school.
I was walking around Warped Tour today in NorCal and heard this amazing beat on a small stage and couldn't help but notice the ridiculous soul Benjamin was spitting! I met Grieves and Budo and they are amazing!! Only legends put a stop to your destination through their music
He's pretty cool. I threw a show in Jackson hole he played the day he got a call informing him rhymesayers wanted to sign him. The kid took flight since then. That show was epic.
Sending love! So bummed I missed you in Reno. Man. After this show, I almost died in a house fire. My friend didn't make it. The relationship I was in became abusive. You and SLUG haha got me through it and helped my dig deep to find my strength. I appreciate yall. Mad love.

this man has changed my outlook on life and has made my own personal writing, especually my most current book, become so much clearer and understanding to me as well as brought more reality meanings brought to my attention
Like If the 2013 Golden Era Cypher Brought You Here.... Must say, this is bloody awesome. Wasn't expecting this good a song, was expecting a simple beat that golden era used. Grieves, I think im a fan :)
Man i think grieves is one of the most talented artists. The raps are too tier the singing fantastic. The beats amazing. Just awesome. Hes one of those artist that doesnt have a nad aong on an album.
I think you misconstrued his statement.. being a minority is where the majority of real Hip Hop started the fact that grieves hasn't had that life experience to contribute to his soulful feel is an anomaly.. it's rare. I don't think it was a bigot statement I think it was more of a summary of things that make him unique, not better than others just different than the majority of the Hip Hop movement. Get educated before you try to talk your keyboard soldier shit.
Your music is why I enjoy rap. Your lyrics are clever and you don't have to sell into the cliche idea that what sells in the media is what 'music' should be. This song is addicting, I can't stop listening to it!
bro check out atmosphere sage francis immortal technique apathy celph titled vinnie paz jus allah mac lethal del tha funkee homosapien murs cam meekins all of em are dope as fuck and spread what real hip hop is about. lol theres a whole beautiful world of great hip hop artsts....actually the ones that talk about money hoes and bitches are in the minority....keep diggin man... peace.
I can't believe I was sleepin' on this guy, such an incredible talent. Great lyrics, plus he's a good singer too. Definitely one of the top underground rappers around.
I came about Grieves around the same time and I'm your age. It's amazing how much of an impact this guy has made in my life through his music. I can relate to what he talks about iand honestly I couldn't ever imagine being as good as him but he definitely inspires me to keep on making music.
This is rhythm and poetry kids, true to original cerebral rap ...oh wait now you have irrelevant rhymes with atrocious repetitive hooks...but that's all you've known
I'm confused about the second half of your comment. Are you saying modern rap is filled w/ "irrelevant rhymes with atrocious repetitive hooks" or this song specifically?
Elite Knight I'm pretty sure he's still speaking to the kids, telling them all they have in their mainstream music they've been fed is the "irrelevant rhymes with atrocious repetitive hooks", and that this is what real hip hop made this century sounds like. blankslate81 did I get your drift well enough?
Shoot i am so old i listened to NIN, Cyprus Hill, Operation Ivy, Green Day, Cake and House of Pain while they were all Garage bands scraping by. Thought my underground would never see the limelight-I think Op Ivy never got there, but in the last 20 yrs of Green day concerts i have seen, they pay homage to them every show by playing one of their songs. Stumbled on Grieves a few years back and i cant get enough of his poetry and beat. just love this band, always puts me in a good mood.
This dude is new to me, and I am constantly blown away with his flow and creativity. He isn't rapping about money and liquor haha he has a certain quality and meaning to his lyrics that i'm having trouble finding elsewhere. i love it.
Grieves has an amazing flow. Great imagery and execution. My favorite album of his is 88 Keys and Counting. The first video on our channel is inspired in part by tunes like this.
we are all entitled to our opinions on wha is good music and what is not. quite personally, I'm not a hip hop person really. I usually listen to what some people describe as "shitty scene core music". but when my friend told me about grieves and i looked him up on here and listened to him for the first time, i fell in love. i admire the time, struggle, blood sweat and tears he has put into his music. he has the balls to write down his thoughts and share them with everyone who listens to his art.
Got this song off iTunes in a demo pack. Just gotta say, based on his voice, I never would have pictured this guy. Great song, and the lyrics are highly intriguing.
Just found this guy. I can't believe I never came across him before. Absolutely incredible. Every single song is an absolute banger.
Awe grieves looks so young.
Lol been listening to this dude for ten years now, we are getting old homie.
36 years
For real man. I remember seeing him when I turned 18 in Minneapolis.
14 years, I believe
Such a cool trip. Christ Jesus is my Lord and Savior and I don’t ever feel bad listening to Rhymesayers especially the nostalgia from feeling on top of the world Senior year in high school.

Definitely still relevant
❤️🔥💔
Today’s Tom Sawyer
This is rap, this is poetry, this is art.
The amount of pure emotion and passion Grieves puts into the delivery of every word is amazing.
First song I've ever dedicatedly mesmerized, Musically and lyrically. So great, I'm always singing this at work all the time.
Me to
8 years later and it's still completely relevant.
Every time I hear it, I react with goosebumps and tears.
Such beautiful fucking art.
I don't like rap, I'm more of a punk and metal guy, but this guy is so fucking good, first rapper that I listen to
If you like this dude, listen to EazyMac's album "music for the lyrically impaired"
This song is dope! Why is it that I never heard of these guys? Well better late then never right?
Might want to check out all of Rhymesayers & Living Legends than.
Rap is a genre of music, Hip-Hop is a way of life.
I love the way grieves express his feelings in his music
❤❤❤ This is one of my favorites dude. I love all your music It speaks to my soul 🎶
Saw him in concert about a year ago. Amazing. Met him afterwards and he signed my CD. Hes just so awesome
He opened for T-Pain and gym class heroes. There were a few others but they weren't very memorable.
Oh god no. We left about 20 seconds into the first song.
He's pretty cool. I threw a show in Jackson hole he played the day he got a call informing him rhymesayers wanted to sign him. The kid took flight since then. That show was epic.

Love this song.

I guess it started when the lights went out
and everybody started running round in circles tryin to figure it out
I could feel it
wedged in my ribs it felt freezin
as my cold air blew out
dance through the evening, paranormal
slowly being called to the green
where the ghosts gather nightly and sell the devil their dreams, i observe
hails from the other side of the curb
hold the concrete notepad
scribble down my words in the limelight
this is what it's like to bleed ink
put your fingers in it paint me a picture of what you think
make it beautiful and make it look like love
make it hang from the heavens
make it break my trust
make it real
make it dangerous
make it out of the rust
make it passionate and impossible to touch
it's forever
slowly resurrected from the dust
when you understand its everything inside of you, its us.
You're all I've ever known
So to my sleep
You always got me running home
Count for the roses
You're my blood and brittle bones, my soul and open throne
You're all I know
Ive spoke a whisper in the dark one night
watch it take form in front of me and mimic my life
it seemed natural specially watching its last breathe like poetry
watch as it clung to its own chest with a smile
made out of broken pieces of tile
you can see the thoughts running chase em around for miles
if you want it people say that old road is haunted
if you travel on it long enough you'll never get off it
you believe it cause everything is skewed when you see it
then you process automatically think that you feel it
and automatically sticks to the brain when the truth of it is standing outside playing cards in the rain
you will never beat the game it plays
you can only turn around and lick the blood from your own switchblade
its forever slowly resurrected from the dust
when you understand its everything inside of you, its us.
You're all I've ever known
Just come to my sleep, you always got me running home
Handful of roses
You're my blood and brittle bones,
My soul an open throne.
You're all I know.

Handful of roses

He's awesome. My life, experiences, he hits it on the head, everytime-he says my thoughts outloud. I love his music.
[Verse 1: Grieves]
I guess it started when the lights went out
And everybody started running round in circles trying to figure it out
And I could feel it, wedged in my ribs it felt freezing

I observe hails from the other side of the curb

You've got the chorus wrong. It's not tomb, it's throne.
this man has changed my outlook on life and has made my own personal writing, especually my most current book, become so much clearer and understanding to me as well as brought more reality meanings brought to my attention

Man i think grieves is one of the most talented artists. The raps are too tier the singing fantastic. The beats amazing. Just awesome. Hes one of those artist that doesnt have a nad aong on an album.
I see music in general as poetry. I enjoy rap artists who have good lyricism in their songs. Instantly a new favorite artist!
This man has talent. He ain't a thug or anything, he aint a minority, he ain't anything horribly outrageous, hes just talented.
uh oh you said the wrong thing watch out lmfao I hate people..
iushud shit up haha perpetuate racism somewhere else.
what does this even mean
I think you misconstrued his statement.. being a minority is where the majority of real Hip Hop started the fact that grieves hasn't had that life experience to contribute to his soulful feel is an anomaly.. it's rare. I don't think it was a bigot statement I think it was more of a summary of things that make him unique, not better than others just different than the majority of the Hip Hop movement. it does not matter if he is a minority or not its just a genre of music....you don't need to be black to rap
Your music is why I enjoy rap. Your lyrics are clever and you don't have to sell into the cliche idea that what sells in the media is what 'music' should be. This song is addicting, I can't stop listening to it!
He doesn't fit in the coffin

So sick. His personal message is like slug's. I'm glad he's young and holds down hip hop. Not hip pop
lovin the way Grieves interprets rap through his videos and how he is doing something different. Hopefully i can be where he is at soon.

It's awesome that Budo features in all of his videos
Still here in 2020. Stay slapping everyone from Rhymesayers.
we are all entitled to our opinions on wha is good music and what is not. quite personally, I'm not a hip hop person really.
I love Grieves!!! he is amazing!
I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song was live with my best friend, we just heard that piano drop and gave each other this look 👀😂
I cant stop listening to Grieves...
Budo rules!
I love this so much
his rap makes the song modern,
his chorus makes it soft,
the trumpet makes it classic
and the video makes it haunting.
this is why i love this song..
love this song
Really the best.
How the hell could someone dislike that bass line, piano riff, drum beat, and trumpet solo? It seems impossible.
Got this song off iTunes in a demo pack. Just gotta say, based on his voice, I never would have pictured this guy.
Great song, and the lyrics are highly intriguing.
