While there are tons of them I still try not to ruin something that is that old and won't be produced again. Also it took way too long to do with a hacksaw lol. Could have saved money by just buying a Walmart hatchet for carving back then!
I forgot to say it. Anybody can go grab a new hatchet for less than 20 dollars at a hardware store and file it for carving. No need to use vintage. I was wasting a lot of money on ebay for awhile. Now I only buy in person. I have everything I could ever need axe/hatchet wise. So now that I know better I try to keep the value of each piece. I can always modify something brand new. I also forgot to show the 3 3 stamp on that awesome keen kutter! It is a beauty.
Just to clarify. There's no such thing as a the maine wedge pattern. It's just "wedge Pattern". Thanks man! I hope to find more interesting pieces that I can learn about!
I like that cruiser...I have a couple with that stamp...not a cruiser though...the guy is quenching the axe bit ...it says flint Edge best axe made🤙🏻🪓😎
@@ethicalaxe my wedge banger I just busted the handle in...it's got that stamp...it's what I'm calling a jersey pattern boys axe...it's weird.. it's 3lb but the eye is smaller than a standard eye and bigger than a boys axe🤷🏼♂️
That cruiser etch is a beauty I scored a beautiful snow and nealley original Hudson Bay this weekend for $5.00 with original handle and hang. What a wedgie. And you’re right if you look at the old patterns, there is a Maine pattern and a wedge pattern. I have many wedge patterns that are from keen kutter true temper etc. but it seems to me that most Maine patterns are also wedges. Or wedgie anyways.
This is from axe Yankee on Instagram. He said in all the catalogs and old info, he's never seen one mention of a Maine Wedge Pattern. Wedge patterns are just made in Maine. I used to call them Maine wedge patterns. I think i misspoke in the video. I tend to listen to axe Yankee about stuff like that. Not that it matters very much haha. But I think it matters to him
Me too man! The keen kutter and Belknap were finds that I was so happy about. It's not often I or my pal see anything like that at our flea market. I really want to use that bluegrass for bucking! Can't wait to haft it. Might make the handle so I have to wait for my lumber to dry.
Nice collection! Glad you showed the tommy axe with the no taf stamp. I've got a true temper tomahawk with a no th stamp. I figured it stood for tomahawk. Yours could stand for tommy axe not sure what the f would stand for. Interesting......
Really nice content! Keep it coming🪓
That's some good looking steel!!!
What a great selection . I look forward to seeing your finished projects. Thanks for sharing my brother!
Man u find some cool stuff! I've been on a drought for months on vintage stuff.
Belknap looks really nice. Lots of great finds. I'm looking forward to your steel toe safety sandals.
No great loss on that Tommy axe. Has to be millions of them out there

The flint edge has a guy dipping the axe into a tempering tank
You sure he's not splitting a round of quench oil? Lol
Someone else mentioned that. It makes a lot of sense. I'd have never guessed.
Too bad about the tommy axe but at least you have a couple more. Love that Keen Kutter Jersery.

It's a really cool etch. Up there with one of my best. Quenching! I would have never guessed that. Makes a lot of sense.

@@ethicalaxe as cruisers go...my pride and joy is a Kelly Works stiletto
You can plug those holes with wood wedges and glue just carve them down to fit perfectly on, and trim the excess off
Shims work well.

@@ethicalaxe tell you what. Call them whatever but they split wood like a champ don’t they.
@@ryanb1314 they're the best man. They split and cross cut without sticking much. Hardwooods stand no chance.
Cool pieces! I particularly like that belknap jersey! I’m a big fan of belknap

I might be able to ask around and find out what No Taf means. Often times someone tells me and I just forget these things haha.
No, retired the sandals?! That was your trademark.
I really limited myself by having that funeral. Hopefully I find a pair of Skis or tap dancing shoes for future videos.
First!
