Dude!!! This is the most comprehensive video I have seen about this type of repair. It genuinely made me feel relief that you labeled the parts and tools. THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you sir. You're the only person I've found who explained and showed how the tensioner mechanism goes together. I stupidly took mine off and have been trying to get it right. You're a life saver.
8:03 That really helped me, thanks. I replaced the water pump and tensioner pulley on my Micra K13 - which should be pretty straightforward. But the out-of-sight tensioner screw was causing all sorts of problems; it apparently fell out of position and became misaligned. I'd suggest the best solution might be to remove it entirely, turn it to the loosest position (as shown here) and re-install it, then put the pulley back on the other side. Then, no problems getting the belt back on - just keep on tightening the screw.
Awesome video and so very descriptive.. Your are a first class videographer, and teacher. Thanks The Nissan dealer wanted almost $ 300.00 to replace this. As a retired man on SS, I can't afford it. The belt cost me $ 39.00 and my labor is free although painful for a 78 year old fella.
Good video. Very informative. Glad you put belt diagrams. Wish more R&R videos were like this. As an Advisor for Nissan, I would definitely recommend this video to any new students.
About to tackle this project for a friend and by far the best video I've found on it. Glad to know all I have to do is just loosen the nut to replace the belt. Thanks for the video!
Excellent video!. Very detailed and it's clear that you know your stuff. I'm doing an alternator replacement on my 2012 Versa and this video gets me through the most of what I need to know. Again, many thanks!
this was the BEST video man. i effed up my tensioner so bad at this point. im going to need a new bolt and nut probably. but after watching your video, i understand the whole thing now, and now i know how to fix it. A+++++++. thank you so much. wish i would have watched this before i messed with it
I tied this but couldn't get the belt back on. Ended up trying to loosen the tensioner bolt, it snapped because it was seized. I had to wait a week before getting the parts. Just be careful if you end up loosening the tensioner, there's a good chance it will be seized. The old bolt the does the tensioning was quite small in diameter so it was easily snapped. I ended up ordering both bolts and the nut. Also make sure the pully bolt is tightened enough before tensioning as this caused mine to walk off after tensioning properly. The bolt was probably at an angle. I used this fabulous video as a reference the whole time.
It sounds like youi didn't loosen the pulley bolt first. If you don't, you won't be able to loosen nor tighten the tensioner bolt. It will act like it's seized.
This is probably what I'm going to have to do, because that nut is a cheap ass aluminum piece of mierda that keeps stripping but will not turn at all. I've had the pinche thing soaking in penetrating fluid all day and it still will not come off.
Thanks for the show. I have the same versa and I'm going out now to do this similar job. My versa note has about 83000kl or 51500 miles, so I figured it's due.
Many thanks. I have Nissan Micra 2006 K12. Thats need too adjust drive belt becourse of its make noice at starting of engine. Now I know more. Keep up the good works u do so well.
FYI to all This video applies to the Nissan Micra as well. EXCELLENT VIDEO! If you check your Versa Owners Manual, the wheel lug nut torque may be 83 ft-lbs. This is the torque value for the Micra. Thank you.
Yeah the process and socket size is the same; however, the Micra is smaller, so I had to use a 1/4 ratchet instead of a 3/8 ratchet since there's less clearance to the idler pulley and adjustment bolt than what's shown in other Versa belt replacement DIY vids.
Very good explanatory video, very nicely done! The only thing I might add if you don't have a tension gauge is that it is better for the belt to be a little loose than too tight. If it can be moved a little and doesn't squeal, it's about right. If it is too tight, it can cause premature wear on the belt and the bearings of the other pulleys..
Your videos are very helpful with the nissan versa. I have a 2012 nissan versa sv 1.6. I couldn't not find any videos for it until now. I appreciate it!
Nice video, thanks! Just a comment on removing the fender liner - you don't need to remove it completely. The back few push pins can be left in place and then you can just bend the liner past the wheel. Saves a little work, not a whole lot. If I take the whole liner off I like to just hose all the dust off from it to ease the messiness the next time around. It did look like you didn't tuck the liner back into the body though. I recommend putting it back as installed from the factory to prevent more moisture intrusion around the well.
I tend to put the old belt and idler/tensioner pulleys in the trunk or spare tire area, you just never know about one breaking in the middle of nowhere or middle of the night without anything open. getting dirty is better than $300+ towing bill
On my versa note, I can reach the tensioner adjustment nut through the front grill, with a ratchet and two extensions and a angle bit. Almost a straight shot. 😆
Thanks from the UK I have a Nissan note 1.2 Engine code HR12DE your car is mostly the same. Your videos have been a great heads up and walk through as to what to expect. Your daughter is so cute too.. We have two young children 3yrs and 14 months. Thanks again esp up the good work.

HI Nic, great video, very detailed. Our Nissan note is squealing at the moment. Can I tighten the tensioner with out having undone the bolt in the centre of the tensioner wheel? We have the 1.2 ltr engine in a 2014 plate
Many thanks. Would I be right in thinking that due to the tensioner not having a spring that you have to manually tighten the tensioner every few thousand miles? Why would they not use a spring tensioner?
You're right. As the belt stretches you may have to adjust. Its just the way the engine was designed. Either because its morecost effective or space constraints.
Thanks for this great video!! Since the idler pulley is stationary after the tension has been adjusted, does it need to be replaced with the belt? I suppose that if the bearing on it is noisy, then yes. But since it is not a spring-loaded one that could lose its tension, there does not seem to be a need to replace it every time, right? Also, my daughter's car squeals when you put in gear...not sure why.

In the UK we only have the 1.2 petrol and the 1.6 Diesel engines on the Nissan note. I recon it is 26ft-lbs it needs to be tightened to but can find anything concrete...

Buddy got a question, I install the belt and give what I think the proper tension but in heavy electrical load the belt squeal at first, but I almost at the limit of the tensioner, If I keep putting tension over the belt might be snap, do you get the same issue?
I didnt have that issue. Try going both ways with it and experiment. Make it tighter see if the noise goes away. Loosen it also to see if that helps. Usually i found that a belt that makes noise is too loose
@@themechanic6117 ok im gonna try that, another thing, how its the iddle speed? Its lower in operational temperature? Because my 2012 Versa when it warm up iddles at like 550 to 600 rpms
Hi everyone, I had the same problem but I had to play back and forth with both screws and finally after a week I finally got it just right. I have never had such difficulties with a tenstioner and pully screw before. Thank for the awesome video .
The mech a nic Got it done thanks to your video. Thank you for everything. I got one final problem, though - now I hear a screeching ONLY when I turn on the A/C. No squeaking when the A/C is off. Is this related to the serpentine belt? Did I mess up anything? Or is that related to something else somehow?
Sounds like the belt may not be tight enough and when you turn the a.c. on the belt starts to slip because it's difficult to turn the a.c. compressor. Try tightening the serpentine belt a little
Hey what's up, I have a 2014 nissan note and 2 things I notice the auto stop /start and I heard a noise where the belt is. Do you have any idea what the problem is?

@@themechanic6117 ok im gonna try that, another thing, how its the iddle speed? Its lower in operational temperature? Because my 2012 Versa when it warm up iddles at like 550 to 600 rpms
Hi everyone, I had the same problem but I had to play back and forth with both screws and finally after a week I finally got it just right. I have never had such difficulties with a tenstioner and pully screw before. Thank for the awesome video .
@@farradaghajanian9846 so you keep putting and removing tension on the belt until you got a sweet spot where It doesnt squeal?
Yes , it was a lots of patience and a little love! Lol!!!
can you please do a video on strut replacement on the note? Thank you!!
The front strut?
@@themechanic6117 Yes :) you can do the rear shock absorbers as well if you want. Muchas gracias !!
What do I do if my tensioner bolt is worn out? Totally rounded off.....
Get it off and replace it, they have special sockets that remove rounded nuts
The mech a nic You wouldnt recommend I just stretch out and pull the serpentine bel, do you? And then stretch the one on place?
No don't do that, it may cause problems later on
The mech a nic Got it done thanks to your video. Thank you for everything. I got one final problem, though - now I hear a screeching ONLY when I turn on the A/C. No squeaking when the A/C is off. Is this related to the serpentine belt? Did I mess up anything? Or is that related to something else somehow?
Sounds like the belt may not be tight enough and when you turn the a.c. on the belt starts to slip because it's difficult to turn the a.c. compressor. Try tightening the serpentine belt a little
What’s better to use on tensioner bolt 12 point or 6 point 13 mm socket?
Probably a 12pt since itll be easier to get the socket on
I have a Nissan versa 2015. How long before I should change the Manual Transmission Oil?
Should be listed in the manual or online. I'm not sure
Hey what's up, I have a 2014 nissan note and 2 things I notice the auto stop /start and I heard a noise where the belt is. Do you have any idea what the problem is?
I'm not familiar with the auto start/stop,my car doesn't have that . You may want to take the belt off to inspect the pullies
Y PARA SACAR EL ALTERNADOR Q PROCESO DEBO SEGUIR?
