As a darker-skinned brother, I grew up in a time when white folks made all the casting decisions for Black television programs, so, what ended up happening was that EVERY smooth, handsome, romantic interest "just so happened" to be a light-skinned Black person (the closer to white, the better). In this show, I so much more identified with & loved Kadeem's character because he defied all the prevalent stereotypes, and, didn't have to act "n-ggerish", in order to be cool.
I have had a crush on #KadeemHardison for so long...I used to daydream & cry over him when he was on A Different World, & I've watched just about every movie he's been in. He's a fantastic actor. I hope I'll get to meet him, one day.

This show proves that TV is very influential. Enrollment to HBCU was the highest for black families that watched it during its tenure.

Kadeem still looks good! He's overweight but he still has nice skin, he hasn't aged, and he has all his hair. Can't say that for some 30 year olds.
