Destroying "forever chemicals" in firefighting foam

A chemical foam that firefighters have sprayed on fires for decades to protect others was a hidden threat to them. The foam contains PFAS, which are dangerous man-made chemicals. New technology aims to reduce the risk. Mark Strassmann takes a look.

With occupational toxins that are harmful in that small a dose, it is the worker, their family, friends, pets and those in places they visit, that are also at risk, when they carry it on themselves and leave it behind in non-workplace environments.

Yeah, I work at a chemical facility that literally uses PFAS all the time to make its products. Its scheduled to halt in 2025. But heres the thing, I see people retire monthly that have 25-30 years in and have perfect health. I'm not saying that PFAS isn't harmful, but its honestly more harmful to the environment then us

Try getting sprayed with it. Firefighting gear isn't airtight. Something always reaches my skin in a fire .
