Are you located in Louisiana or Southern Mississippi reason I ask is there used to be a business down there that strictly sold or made signals of all types in outside in their front yard out on the main by the main highway there was always a series of railroad signals and what happened that were set up
It was a blank NS dot tag I bought off eBay. The WCH signal has one from Union Pacific that I installed. Soon I will have them renumbered for personal use like all my other ENS signs.
@@fostoriadistrictrailfan3907 Not necessarily, it's pretty annoying to have to deal with them constantly ringing in your ears when you work. And as this is a museum, its courteous that he has them shut off so they aren't heard from all around constantly.
@OtterMan310 What leads you to the conclusion that ~ "E-Bells are weak."? Is it the fact that the majority are made out of PVC? Thin wiring? Don't like the sound? I'm honestly confused lol. They've been rated to last around the same amount of time a MODERN mechanical gong was supposed to. I've seen and heard of cases where that did happen, there are quite a few 20+ year old electric gongs still in service. I mean yeah, SOME are pieces of garbage. Being fully electronic and not having easily repairable components in them they're basically good or bad. Hence why the railroad throws so many of them away when they go bad. Same with the mechanical gongs, people spend a whole lotta time complaining when the railroad just tosses a "perfectly good mechanical gong" in the bin. Nobody at the railroad , except for some very rare cases, even cares OR dares to bring a piece of equipment back with them to repair. I've worked with / personally owned over 20 some electronic gongs over the last couple years and I can tell you that some of those "weak" gongs had some real dirt on em. They had seen all sorts of different types of climate based off of where they came from and most came to me in restorable condition. Hell, I still have one of those old Western Cullen gongs that has that slow start. That guy dates back to the 2000s. Not so weak considering he was right by the ocean and still works.
@OtterMan310 E-bells shouldn't be weak, crossings I've came across too that has the E-bell, the bell kept going even after the gate is down and stays on till it goes back up

Can you make it to where the bells stay on after the gates are down
They will wear out faster, I applaud him for not leaving them ring when the gates are down.
