Roskoe, Emma very much sings songs that have meaning for her, partly because her stage time is so limited because of the feeding tube issues, she can only be completely free of them for 2 hours a day, and that's a huge mental challenge that doesn't go away.
Recent songs that are very much Emma at her best, Emma performs in the 2024 Amsterdam liberation concert, in front of the Dutch Royal family, duet with April Darby, When you believe

A recent and updated version of her cover of the Demi Levato cover, 'Father', also from a commemoration concert, some significant changes from the version she did last September, and a lot more powerful, with an even higher and stronger top note, it's sublime

An absolutely different short video, split screen of Voila, and some of the rehearsals, it shows so clearly how much Emma has changed, that first night, she was so nervous, waiting in the wings, she was like a deer caught in the car headlights, until her moment came, and then, like the butterfly of her dream, from her first single, she soared, and dominated the stage, the orchestra and the 12,500 audience, it's a beautiful insight into the early days with Andre,

Emma has had a hard time recently, with concerts all over the place, she's not a lover of flying, and her illness causes some issues with things like larger airports, she has stamina issues that can mean even walking some distance is an issue, and she's constantly carrying the equivalent of a boat anchor, and I can't even begin to comprehend the hassles that must cause at things like airport security, and she can't just put them to one side, it doesn't work like that, a whole extra level of aggravation that is potentially stressful for her.
There was a recent heartbreaking post on social media about her struggles with her illness, not the fact she's performing so much, that's her therapy, her freedom, more that the massive constraints of 22 hours a day on the tube feeding and all that entails, and the effects on her of the illness, and it looks like some of her extended family in Andre's orchestra have got alongside her, and helped lift her spirits a bit, which is really good to see.
I close with my regular comment, and given the pressures Emma's feeling, it's even more important than usual.
Emma's foundation can be found at gastrostars.nl
Please, if at all possible, join me in making a (regular) contribution to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease that has affected her from birth, and requires her to be tied to the pumps and feeding tubes since she was 9 MONTHS old, for 22 hours a day, hopefully, the work of her foundation will find a cure.
One of their main people is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in dealing with gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day.
It will be so good if the work of Emma's foundation can lead to a better treatment, or even a cure, which will free her to do more singing, and it may be people here who make that possible.

The song tells about her own condition. The title "Ze huilt maar ze lacht" is in Dutch and it means "She cries but she laughs".

    Hello Roskoe,
Hereby the English lyrics of this heartbraking song which she is still connected with.
    She cries but she laughs
    ------------------------
She sits here on the train alone and she hides in her coat
And looks out of the window and wonders
How it would feel to be herself
Because sometimes it hurts when she cries but she smiles
    She cries but she smiles
She walks through a world that doesn't feel kind
Unknowingly she says the things that everyone does
Because she's never not doing well, always okay
And she talks with them, and she smiles
    She cries but she smiles
And now she lets it go
And now she lets it go
She feels alone when she walks through the city
And she looks into the window, sees another standing there
And she knows who it is, but she doesn't want to be her
    And keeps up appearances
    And she smiles
    She cries but she smiles
What if she decides not to hide tomorrow
Trade in her better her for her true face
Will the friends who she wants to trust
    Still love her?
If she cries, if she cries and doesn't smile
And now she lets it go
And now she lets it go
    She lets it go
    She lets it go
Ah, ah, she lets it go
I sit here on the train alone and hide in my coat
And look out of the window and wonder
How would it feel to be myself?
Because sometimes it hurts when I cry
    But I smile
Enjoy and keep up the good work
