+Mitchell Sanderson i agree that the story of the game sucked but the game in itself was great. It was more an experiment than an actual halo game. Mostly because of the new enemies.
Halo: Reach the game might not depict the storyline of what happened at Reach all too well. However Reach was described in the lore (through books & multimedia) as one of the most important planets to humanity as the planet was rich in titanium and had the strongest UNSC military presence in the universe before it was glassed. The planet is the pinnacle of the story because it is where Cortana, John-117, CPTN Jacob Keyes and most iconic characters either trained or were made from. MAC Rounds/Cannon is also a high projectile weapon, so you are right there. In Halo: Reach you get to man the cannon in the last mission.
+XxSNIPERxX 4Gen well shields are made to reflect high speed projectiles like bullets and plasma but when u ram an ship u have to shut down shields because a ship is too heavy for the shields to repel it for example the scene on halo 4 when the infinity came out of slip space and ram that covenant ship the shields where down
Actually the Spartan III were on the forerunner shield world known as onyx btw the orion project (spartan I) and spartan II where in reach and if you want to know the book ghosts of onyx is the book about the sIII
19:30 was like something out of a movie. Battle of the Giants facing off only to destroy each other in the end. The music was right on point to compliment the scene as well.
That Banshee spam would have done wonders in the early game, and it might have been better to invest in bombers instead of fighters, but the Banshee is one of those vehicles that just looks badass and has to be present. The flak wall on them was gorgeous.
Diplex you're a great youtuber, but you should know that Reach was the Home of the Spartans and it had great UNSC presence. It also was where Cortana was born, and it had the fall of Noble Team on Reach (Spoilers- Jun Survives). Also there was one of the UNSC's lager fleets defending the planet. So when it was wiped out it kind of was a big deal. Furthermore it was one of the major battles against the Covenant. Love your videos Diplex. If you want to talk about the real Halo storyline you should really take a look at the books instead of the botched up job that 343 studios did in order to make more money. Reach was used as a staging area for UNSC fleets to go out into the outer regions and was the birthplace of the Spartan Program. It's a great story.

They would not have found earth if they were not looking for a forerunner artifact located underneath New Mombassa, Africa, Earth. It was then found out by the covenant that earth was the homeworld. That's why the covenants fleet was so small when they arrived at earth, because they expected no opposition.

yeah, Will died on Onyx killing 2 Hunters with his bare hands and took a fuel rod cannon to the face. he lived for about 10 seconds after that hit and scared the shit out of every covenant that was near him from seeing him standing after 2 hunters and a fuel rod shot. my favorite spartan death in all of halo. books and games. (by the way, it might have been just 1 hunter. been years since i read the book.)

MAC is Technically a Magnetic Acceleration Cannon however it is some time referred too as a Mass Acceleration Cannon by non-technical UNSC or Civilian people.
What those Paris frigates fired at your ships was a MAC blast. Almost all who know Halo know about this. Especially if one of the first games you played was Halo Wars. (Like I did)

I guess one thing the UNSC had against the Covenant in space battles was that missiles and MAC rounds had a way faster velocity than the plasma rounds fired from Covenant ships. Probably why light cruisers like the Hermes class was so effective , especially in large fleets.
great video, just that when that assault carrier was vertical and you could see its belly, the thing you pointed out is not the ventral glassing beam but rather the planetary grav lift. the ventral beam is actually located at the "mouth" of the ship.

The UNSC tried to defend the planet but after the destruction of the Covenant SuperCarrier: Long Night Of Solace, the rest of Thel's fleet came and the UNSC decided to evacuate the planet. The Battle(later Fall) of Reach lasted from July to August. Human military presence was decimated. Spartan IIs and IIIs on planet were nearly all killed.
At 21:49 the thing under the belly of the ship is a gravity lift. Example of use:truth and reconciliation. The big whiteish looking dot up front is the glassing is or cleansing beam
The cannon fired by the unsc is a mass acceleration cannon or Mac for short. Macs where good agents the covenant as they were the only very effective counter measures in the lore
you're correct the Pillar of Autumn was at the Battle of reach each and during the battle it destroyed the second largest covenant worship with that destroyed many powerful UNSC vessels
you know what i find funny: most of the time the UNSC fought the Covenant in space they lost... horribly, in fact(if my memory serves me correctly) the only times we ever won in space was when we had a 7-1 advantage and we would still end up losing 4-5 of the ships present with the surviving ships all heavily damaged (unless of course you had Admiral Cole or captain(then a commander) keys present then things may go better for ya) but on the ground was when the UNSC "normally" had a fighting chance... provided they held on to orbital superiority

the area you indicated on the carriers is not the glassing beam, that comes from the frontal section. the central beam array is a transportation technology that facilitates deployment/resupplying through gravity manipulation. You get to board multiple ships through this portal in the halo games.
the fast traveling projectile is the MAC gun, Mass Accelerator Cannon, fires a depleted uranium Tungsten alloy projectile, its basically a Rail gun on steroids
Diplex just so you know there were no uprisings on Reach originally beffore they knew the covenant were on Reach Visagrad relay was knocked out stoping Reach from communicating with the other colonies. The UNSC thought it was rebles but in the game its actually the covenant winter contingency.
The hammer head ships were using Mac guns basically a giant rail gun and if you read the book fall of the reach you find out that a ship about the size of half a sky scraper can have them

It was by far the largest battle of the war, the UNSC had a decent sized fleet defending it as well as 30 Supermac defense platforms. Both sides suffered heavy loses by the end, but the UNSC lost the planet.

They got the size of the CSO CLASS wrong. The size should be 10 times bigger than the CAS CLASS

I guess one thing the UNSC had against the Covenant in space battles was that missiles and MAC rounds had a way faster velocity than the plasma rounds fired from Covenant ships. Probably why light cruisers like the Hermes class was so effective , especially in large fleets.
By the way, banshees are horrible.
Reach was the major military outpost in Halo, also those were mac cannons, the main thing in halo ship combat
great video, just that when that assault carrier was vertical and you could see its belly, the thing you pointed out is not the ventral glassing beam but rather the planetary grav lift. the ventral beam is actually located at the "mouth" of the ship.

My poor boy, Reach was a heavily defended human colony and Thel 'Vadam's (later became the Aribiter) discreetly came to the planet and decimated Reach.
The UNSC tried to defend the planet but after the destruction of the Covenant SuperCarrier: Long Night Of Solace, the rest of Thel's fleet came and the UNSC decided to evacuate the planet.
The Battle(later Fall) of Reach lasted from July to August.
Human military presence was decimated. Spartan IIs and IIIs on planet were nearly all killed.
Reach was the major naval production planet for the UNSC during the war. I suggest you read the book, it's a great read

The cannon fired by the unsc is a mass acceleration cannon or Mac for short. Macs where good agents the covenant as they were the only very effective counter measures in the lore

you're correct the Pillar of Autumn was at the Battle of reach each and during the battle it destroyed the second largest covenant worship with that destroyed many powerful UNSC vessels
you know what i find funny: most of the time the UNSC fought the Covenant in space they lost... horribly, in fact(if my memory serves me correctly) the only times we ever won in space was when we had a 7-1 advantage and we would still end up losing 4-5 of the ships present with the surviving ships all heavily damaged (unless of course you had Admiral Cole or captain(then a commander) keys present then things may go better for ya) but on the ground was when the UNSC "normally" had a fighting chance... provided they held on to orbital superiority
Reach was basically an outter colony for the humans and there were actually cities on reach and civilians living there

the area you indicated on the carriers is not the glassing beam, that comes from the frontal section. the central beam array is a transportation technology that facilitates deployment/resupplying through gravity manipulation. You get to board multiple ships through this portal in the halo games.
Actually there is a Energy Projector there as we see as the UNSC Grafton got hit by it, On Smaller Covie ships its always on the front tho
