My daughter said to put the potted mums into a pail of water and soak for a hour. Then plant into pots. They last longer for her she said. Enjoy! 🥰
I’ve heard that too 🥰
Oh good idea. Thank you!
I do the same!
Elizabeth, the outside of your home is as beautiful as the inside! Love the two lanterns and the new light your husband installed.
Thank you Gloria! 🥰😘
Just love your home. I’m a native midwesterner. Getting ready after five years of being away to move back home. This reminded me why I’m going home. 🥰
Oh yes, we moved away for a few years, it’s been so nice to be back.
@@oldmaplehomeI moved away to Texas but really miss Michigan. I definitely took it for granted. It’s such a beautiful state!
" The tree-lined streets formed golden archways of autumnal color, and whatever foliage had already fallen
formed a russet carpet that came alive and danced around our wheels as we drove over it. " ~ Alex Kefford
That is SO beautiful. Thank you!
Thank you, beautiful!
I love your window box, everything looks beautiful!
Thanks mom 🥰
It’s beautiful Elizabeth.
When I watch people gardening in a climate that has severe winters, I say a little prayer that their hard work is rewarded. It seems sad to see you take down the topiaries as there is still so much life in them but I guess without a heated green house these plants won’t survive the harsh weather ahead. Bless you, Cameron ang your family for all the beauty you create and share.🦘🇦🇺
The topiaries were pretty much dead, but they lasted many months! I have looked into trying to preserve them, but I don’t have the equipment to do so. I assume gardening costs a bit more in climates like our because we have to buy a lot of plants over and over. However, I am going to experiment with over wintering a lot of ky plants this year in our root cellar! Wish me luck 🤞
🤞Absolutely - keeping the outside looking good must be very expensive, I’m surprised the by the people who object to you being sponsored. The companies get wonderful advertising for the gift. I’m all for you making as much as possible, as this is your business, and it’s certainly one that gives me and other subscribers great pleasure. @@oldmaplehome
Just beautiful! I’ll bet you influence your neighbors with all the beauty, inside and out! ❤

Looking 👀 Beautiful! 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️✅
Thank you!!
So pretty, Elizabeth! I loved seeing last year's porch, but I think you outdid yourself this year! Of course, you e got that fantastic window box now and that adds so much to your home. I love that you were able to relocate your begonias and other plants in there to mix with the mums for some variety in color and texture. And I love the colors you chose to use this year. It's always wonderful to see you working together with your husband outside, too. Makes it so much more fun, doesn't it, when you share putting it together?
I was excited to see what you would do and I was absolutely NOT disappointed!! I'm curious, though, where your zinnias are? Are they at the side of the house? So pretty. Oddly, as a child I thought they were sort of meh, then in my 20s I discovered I suddenly loved them! I started planting black eyed Susans, zinnias and asters for end of summer and autumn and never looked back. They're still favorites of mine.
I did love our porch last year, the Cinderella pumpkins were so pretty. I couldn’t find any this year. My husband doesn’t always get to help me, so when I get help, it’s wonderful! The zinnias were from a pumpkin farm we visited, but I really want to plant some in my yard! They are so beautiful!
Love the window box!
Thank you!
So very pretty!
Oh thank you!!
Your home is absolutely gorgeous both inside and out! Such a beautiful array of pumpkins too!!❤️
Oh thank you!! 🤗

This is my dream Michigan home ❤

Beautiful your home i
Is very warm and welcoming
Thank you Pat!
So so cute
I planted my mums in the garden in our front yard a couple of years ago. This is the second year that they have returned. They are beautiful!! Plant them and don't dig them up with the spring cleaning. They will return.
I’m going to do that this year, very excited about it! 🥰
Yes! I used to do that, too, when I lived in New York State. And they returned for a few years then I'd need to replant as they'd get a bit straggly after that.
What a gorgeous house and neighborhood you live in. I just ran across your porch video this morning and hit subscribe right away! Looking forward to watching your other fall videos.
Beautiful ❤
Thank you!!
Beautiful 😍
Everything looks incredible 🎃🎃🎃
Awe thanks!! 🤗
Many plants for fall at Walmart garden center for the window box and flower pots. A good selection
I should have checked there…
I laughed when you were concerned about the spider.🕷️🕸️ I am going to make my husband plant my daffodil bulbs because I uncovered a toad when I was doing fall clean up in my garden. I researched Ontario frogs and they can dig down 50 cm to hibernate..🐸😂😂 I love your home and front porch , everything looks gorgeous.🧡🍁🎃🧡🕷️🧡
Oh my lol! I would have never guessed you could dig up a frog! 🐸
LOVE THIS
Thank you! 🥰
Your beautiful home is always so lovely. I’m in California, so my mums come back every year. I do repot them and cut them back when spent. Usually get two blooming seasons when I start in spring. It would break my heart to watch them die every year. I’m assuming they do. And your ferns are gorgeous. Would a hot house prevent their demise? In any event, you really have green thumbs. 😊
Yes, I’m sure a lot of our annuals are perennials for you… I’m a little jealous! 😆 I’m going to try and plant the mums in the ground and see if they return next year 🤩
Everything looks so beautiful Elizabeth!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Kim! 🥰
It’s all beautiful
Thank you!!
Beautiful! 🍁🧡🍂🎃
Thank you!
So beautiful ❤

YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL HOUSE, ENJOY IT, I GREET YOU WITH A LOT OF LOVE FROM SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA🎉❤
Oh so kind of you, thank you! 🥰
Hello, Mums are here in Austria winterhardy. You can plant them in the garden after decorating with them. Sorry I am late, but I am new to your channel. Greetings Michi
I love how cozy your fall front porch turned out. Makes me wish I had a front porch. You definitely inspired me.

I would paint the urns black
They were black lol… maybe I’ll paint them back one day 😆
Beautiful and amazing fall decor Elizabeth. I am new a happy to have found your channel.
Elizabeth can you please list the songs in this video as well as the artists please omg just beautiful music/songs.
Pure Majestic moment. 🙏🦋👏💕
So glad you’re here! I get my music from epidemic sound and there is a link in the description box of all my videos 😊
Mum's and ferns come back each year, it's just a case of storing them out of season. You don't need to keep buying yearly. Mums also like to be dead headed so they can reflower.
Yes, I’m going to try and over winter a lot of plants this year 🤞
Be sure the mums get plenty of water and be sure they can drain. If the pots you use don’t have holes in the bottom, the flowers will get waterlogged and die. Drainage is key.
Great tips! I think drainage is always a must! I think most all planters have drainage holes these days thankfully 😅
I just saw something that said to soak the roots of mums before planting.
Your front porch is beautiful. I thought I might do something like you did flanking my front door. I went to Home Depot to look for those evergreens. But they all grow to be 8 to 10 feet tall. Do you remember how tall your shrubs' grow when mature? Are you planning on planting them out in the yard after a while, or will they stay small enough to keep them in pots? Thank you.
That flower box is divine! You've inspired me to get busy 🍁🍂🍁
Ah fantastic!
I absolutely love love your home! I am also captivated by the music. Please share with me where I can tune into tgat music. Thank you!
Thank you!! I get my music at epidemic Sound.
Is that a real black pumpkin? Thank you for sharing, really enjoyed the video!
It’s very dark green ☺️
Thank you for listing where you get your background music. Could you tell me the title for the piano piece that starts at 4:54 so I can search for it? Don't forget to replant your mums somewhere in your garden before the frost and they will return next year -- when you will keep trimmed until the you are ready for fall bloom. Mine are years and years old. I divide for planters leaving some in the ground to keep growing.
I'm just curious how these nurseries keep thebmums alive when they're so root bound and water from the top🤔
I plan on soaking mine this year to see if that helps. I've tried protecting them in the winter by planting in the ground, but they died anyway and never returned here in NC. Wouldn't have thought I'd have a problem in my area
Hmmm… I’ve seen them dead at nurseries lots of times. I’m sure there is a difference between hardy and non hardy mums.
Thank you for mentioning how root bound the nursery mums are! Isn't that the truth?
Yes, I never realized before!
@@oldmaplehome Yep and we all pay good money for them no matter where we get them so of course we want them to last. Also wanted to thank you for mentioning using vinegar and not bleach on pumpkins. I never wash my outdoor pumpkins personally, but the bleach is so dangerous for wildlife. I don't know who started the bleaching practice but it needs to stop. If you're going to wash, vinegar is the better choice!
Hi Elizabeth! This is 10/01/23 and watching your outside fall Video! In your window box,,,,is that a type of trailing ivy and if so what is the name of it? Love,Love your videos!!!
Hi Rebecca! I wish I could remember the name of that vine, but sadly I forgot.
It’s Ok! Just thought it was soooo Pretty!
What do u do with all the plants you take out and redecorate using others ?
The ones that were spent for the season got tossed.
Hi, do you know the name of the shrub by the front door?
I must admit that I forgot! I did get them at Home Depot though and see them all of the time there.
Soak your mums instead of watering from the top. :)
Yep, great tip!
Where is your door wreath?
I didn’t have one. I also don’t always like to cover that window since it’s the only light we get into the foyer.
I think it’s all beautiful but the rug in the middle of the porch should be an anchor instead of an island all alone. Put it under the rockers or under the table.
It’s kind of been there for functional purposes vs decor only… my kids sit there and play sometimes.
Everything looks beautiful, I have a professional advice for you, the rocking chair should be facing the street to enjoy the view of neighborhood friends that walked by, and like to tell you how much they enjoy your beautiful flowers, and even you want to see your labor of love !
Great job anyway!
I never have watch your video before !! I might watch to see if you thought that it was a good idea, , facing the rocking chairs out , to enjoy your garden and your neighbors! Good bye 👋🏻!
You say you've never watched before, yet you've commented on her videos before...
Hmmm.. they are facing the street 😊 Thank you for watching, glad your here!
I think I see the rocker confusion, they do appear to face the house, but if they were put with their backs to the wall they would impede the stair access. To Elizabeth’s point the stairs face the street, the railing faces the side yard. Therefore when they are in the rockers they can enjoy the front of the house. I hope I have that right. 🎃
Pumpkin overkill!
Never too many pumpkins... they are the most cheerful fruit
Boy we should do need our men lol
Watching you and your husband empty out the car,,dud even as "how many pumpkins do we really need"
Not putting you down or trying to be a mean person..Its lovely to look at but a lot of wasted money 🫤 Id rather give to the needy. I use to do this decorating in the past but my mind stays on the Lord, so it just doesnt interest me anymore. More important things in the world ❤❤
Sounds like you are a very virtuous person… I actually do both by the way. 😃 God provided me this home because He knows how much I love to be a homemaker. He loves to make things beautiful as well.
@oldmaplehome To love the world, is to be an enemy of God 🙂 I'm glad you can do both ❤️
Very pretty
Thank you!!
