We visited Caffe Cordina in the heart of Valletta, suggested by Doris.
It’s a family based business that gives you an original Maltese experience with a great assortment of pastries, pastizzi, ftira, rabbit and Kinnie!

Caffe Cordina is a legend!!! I booked a table ahead in order to have lunch inside. It looks like a museum!

Thanks for reviewing this very special restaurant. I am never ever eating rabbit, so wondering if you can recommend something different from this place without meat? Also, I probably wouldn't order something like a pastizzi in a restaurant (cheap on the street) so wondering if there were other options? I get that you are trying to choose traditional Maltese foods though.
Dear Laurel, thank you for your comment. This place is a mix of italian specialities, as the owner was italian.
But their focus is now on Maltese, as is in a very touristic place.
They have nice salads and sweets as well as Caprese ftira. I added their menu for you, so you could have a look 😊

You probably went to the worst place for pastizzi and especially rabbit, go to rabat and mgarr respectively for those
Get off the main street and explore the side streets to find better jems.
