    SO happy I found this video, I got a gorgeous vintage skirt that needed a little fixing up and I'm so happy I can take care of it properly.

    This was another example of your brand of greatness! Often times challenges such as this would prove to be overwhelming for the average person but, you just pulled away any kind of anxiety from the seemingly complex task. This is the kind of thing that you're known for, taking daily challenges and stripping back the steps. Thanks again for aiding in the maintenance of our garments.

      @@AspiringGent you are awesome! You need a soap box for taking your bow! Thanks for your content and encouragement that you offer with each & every video.
      How about sometime in the future creating a video on who you are and where you come from? I think that your fans would really enjoy it.

    Mr Gent, thank you for this lesson on repairing clothes.
    I have a shirt with a hole. But I don't want to throw it away simply because it's the first shirt I bought for myself after high school (7 years old by this coming December)
    And this guide really helped save it.
    Thanks a lot, my good gentleman.

    Wow! So easy and simple to understand. I just ripped my shirt that I got from Brooklyn 5 years ago and am VERY sad that I ripped it. I will have to try this when I get home from my Coaching! You sir are a true gentleman.

    First time stitching a hole, I had one at the end of a thigh high sock and honestly, I did a decent job! Thank you! ^^

    Great job! I am a novice sewer myself and I just bought a new blouse last week. I was trying to nip a loose thread near a button and wouldn't you know- I accidentally caught some of the fabric and got a hole in it on my first time wearing it. Same type of fabric etc. Oh by the way, don't listen to some of the people criticising you. They obviously don't realize you used this color of thread for visibility reasons to show them what to do. With white or light blue, you wouldn't be able to tell and more importantly-it's DURABLE.

    🤔 So, I am trying to fix a doctor's lab coat. There is a hole but it is under an opened pocket seam. Should I use this method? I can fix the seam just not sure what to do with the hole and also make it look nice. I am thinking about putting a patch on the inside to make it more durable.

    • @AspiringGent
      @AspiringGent  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      due to the location it sounds like a patch would be a good option. If you have pictures and would like some more advice I'm all ears.

    This is awful, he just dragged the raw edges together, puckering up the fabric, instead of properly darning or putting a patch over.

    • @tigergreg8
      @tigergreg8 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was just a quick tutorial for YT. This is not what he would have done professionally. He basically said that in the video. Take his idea, which works, and use it when needed.

    • @rogerbrewster609
      @rogerbrewster609 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know that he said for demonstration purposes but if you are going to demonstrate you might as well do it properly. After seeing this video I don’t really know if I should attempt it myself because the end result looks terrible and if he’s been doing it for awhile and it looks like this then maybe I shouldn’t even try.

    Yes, thank you. Home made holster pants. You can imagine kydex might wear a hole in eventually and sooner or later it would show through. This is not a disposable garment, I want to be buried in these pants (no rush, lol!) Modified your technique with a bamboo embroidery circle and matching waxed embroidery thread. This garment kinda brings to mind the grunge era anyway, so....it's character now? I guess? Judges???

    Great video...very educational. I've seen some if those iron on patches or fabric glue and I've wondered how that would work with rips and tear holes? Do you work with these non-traditional tools as well and if not, is there something wrong with the technology?

    Please say at the beginning which side is the front of the fabric and which side is the back I had to start over halfway thru the video. Other than that, this video was very helpful. Thanks!

    I think the best way to do is use a right kind of fabric glue, attach a small fabric in the back side, if you do it well no body will see it was broken before.
