To be fair Marvel only started to get better treatment since these new summer sets. Their past two years of sets have been pretty trash imo. You’re right about Harry Potter though. Their sets are super good
The best part of that reveal was when David Hall asked about the figures, and they just completely dodged the question. Am I the only one who remembers the guys there saying "you can display these figures on the stand or put them in the set. Or you could take these figures and put them with another set, but why would you take away these AWESOME minifigures" Just lol
Ryan don’t forget how inaccurate the clone commander minifigure is: firstly the torso is a episode 3 torso and basically a reuse of the 501st trooper, secondly the helmet is missing the silver visor and has a black instead. Watch episode 2 again to see my point. Great video! Greetings!
Actually you're wrong, the silver is a reflection, so could go either way. Also episode 2 and 3 from the movies have the same armor, but the clone wars tv series have different body armor for phase 1 and 2. It is not a reuse torso because the badbatch have the same style as the 2020 501st. Its like saying they reused the rp2 torso for the rp1 clone troopers.
@@ArcTrooperStomperCT- the silver is debatable on whether or not its the reflection or the actual visor itself in episode 2 but in basically every other clone wars related thing the visor is generally just all black. Also phase I and II existed in the movies and they have different chestplates.
The designers saying “you should buy this for the model and not for the mini figures” is like saying, oh people are buying my album to listen to the music so we don’t have to care about the cover art/merch/etc. No, the whole thing is one unified experience. It’s just a lazy cop-out to say that.
@@billjordan5238 A better example might be comic book art. If the story is good, but the artist has no knowledge of anatomy, it spoils the feeling, and the fact that the story is good will only partially make up for it.
@@maxmocs5008 That's really not a good comparison. Minifigures on UCS sets are just bonuses that you can put on the stand. Not anywhere near how important art is in comic books.
At a basic level their logic makes no sense "we don't want to limit who can own a minifigure based on price" only applies to figures you have in release, otherwise you are just denying them to everyone equally.
Also this set is marketed towards adults, ADULTS! This isn’t a case of “mommy won’t let me get it so I’m gonna cry,” this set is supposed to be bought by people who earn each and every one of those dollars themselves so if someone can’t afford the set and the figures, tough they can put money aside from work and buy it within a month.
Interestingly, there are collectors out there, like myself, just collect the minifigures. I don't have the space to display large whole lego sets, but it is much easier to display minifigures, so I just focused on that. Often, I will come across minifigures being sold on eBay that were exclusive to a set, especially Star Wars ones, but they are often being sold for crazy amounts. Granted the price is far less than buying the whole set, but sometimes I feel, especially when new sets come out with a few exclusive minifigures, to just buy the whole set and sell everything online, except for the minifigures. However, that would mean tying up money, until I can sell the set (minus minifigures) at a reasonable price. I have also bought parts and pieces to customize my minifigures, especially my Star Wars ones, with accessories such as more accurate custom weapons, pauldrons, waistcapes, capes, etc. that I found on eBay as well. I just don't understand why Lego doesn't sell more Star Wars minifigures alone.
I love hearing Ryan pop off on Lego, it fills me with joy. I wish we could just reach them, I wish they would just sit down and listen to their fans once that's all we want.
I know, I'm a little late to the party, but the clone pilot was my favorite LEGO clone. I got the V19 Torrent starfighter when I was like six or seven and I still have that guy today. he may be in bits and pieces floating around in one of my LEGO bins, but he will always be there in my heart.
LEGO contradicted themselves. They say that no one cares about an accurate clone pilot because people only remember a yellow clone. However, if "no one cares", then it does not qualify as a sought after figure. Therefore, there is no reason for it to not be included.
Yes, they said that even though, they added some two random 2 moffs into the ucs star destroyer, when they could add, maybe like darth vader and grand moff tarkin because theyre more popular.
Minifigs are the heart and soul of licensed lego themes; characters drive a story more than vehicles and set pieces. There have been so many sets released solely for the figs, with their vehicles simply being a bonus aspect of the immersion (battle packs, etc). Every single lego set under a licensed theme should include at least one minifig most prominently associated with the build itself (except for brick-built busts depicting a character’s likeness, as including a minifig can be seen as redundant), and when a set includes inaccurate minifigs and/or doesn’t include minifigs that deserve to be included, the set loses the majority of its charm and value in my eyes. PS Lego if you’re reading this PLEASE remake Jango’s Slave 1!! It’s been way too long!
LEGO: "What is it you want?" Fans: "Commander Cody Phase II! Battlepacks! Minifigures for May the 4th!" LEGO: "anyway... Here are some more vidyo sets!"
@Sgt. VinDoy i think the reason phase 2 cody will never happen is because they refuse to make the phase 2 helmets visor and rangefinder compatible, making it impossible
It feels like they put the wrong logo on the box on purpose. A pretty smart way to sell some extra sets to the most hardcore fans. I mean how does that even happen. Its no big deal but still...
Im just waing for LEGO designers to say:《Well, we have this grey spaceship, it seems to be Star Destroyer or Millenium Faclon or... Razor Crest? Screw you guys, just BUY IT!!!》
I truly believe LEGO has just stopped caring or is close to losing care. Worst part is that they think we don’t know the difference between a clone pilot and a clone commander.
This is why I bought the Clone Army Customs P2 Cody figure a few years back. I personally like their helmet design more than LEGO’s and the printing detail is superb
If this is a "Clone Wars" set, it would be from the Second Battle of Geonosis. That would mean it should come with Ki Adi Mundi and a Flame Marine Clone.
They’d never give us a flame trooper they’d just do a plain phase 1 clone and Ki Adi Mundi because it’s the cheapest route and technically the plain phase 1s we’re there so iTs aCcUrAtE

I think the lack of a new mold for the darksaber is the most baffling thing recently from Lego Star Wars. Absolutely blows my mind that they make one off molds all the time, yet they fail to make one for THE DARKSABER, wtf?!
I personally don't mind them not putting new figures in the Gunship, with some of the designer's comments it seems like they'd put Cody into a cheaper set if they were to make him, which I think is a really good thing
The thing is they won’t make him though. They’ve had 16 years to make a p2 Cody, and never bothered to make him. Lego would rather make another Luke’s landspeeder than do anything prequel related.
I guess but it seems like a waste, at least they should have included some more clones with unique printing because the gunships design is partly iconic because of all the gunners in the WW2 fighter plane inspired ball turrets.
@@alexgetting245 the reason that we're not getting as much clone wars sets is Disney want lego to produce sets for their new content, of which there is a ton coming out this year and next year, and it's completely understandable, even if its not as desirable, but we can still hold out hope that Cody will be in a set
I really do think the lego Star Wars designer team needs an all new team that can balance sets across from the Star Wars universe at various price points, because the current team is failing at that
Bro. "All that people will remember is a clone with yellow markings." I'm sorry but most people buying this ate fans. And any fan will remember the clone wars and how much respect each clone deserves. Because every single one had a story and a name even those pilots.
The people buying this are people like me who have a lot of headcanons about clones that weren’t even named in The Clone Wars and ideas for how they behaved. So no, we don’t just remember a yellow clone. We remember he was a hero that piloted a gunship for the first battle of the Clone Wars.

Blindly obedient and loyal to a corporation that has proven time and time again that they no longer care. These tiny mistakes would have never been allowed by the founder of lego. I still remember the story of how he forced his son to repaint every single duck toy all over again because he tried to half ass it. That the motto, “only the best.” Meant something to lego, and to the fans. People may complain about you and say all you do is whine or criticize. But in reality, you’re a passionate fan, who truly loves Star Wars and lego and wishes to see the best in both. You want them to succeed, you want them to be the very best because you care. The fact they did not see that and drove you away from this partnership with their lack of care or desire to be the very best shows how far they’ve fallen. They’ve become a brand that’s so large and well known they feel as if they can afford to be lazy and not care. But if they continue down this path, they will surely see the error when their value comes plummeting down. I admire you Ryan, because for your fans you actually care enough, to be blunt and honest rather than lie and be a megaphone for a corporation that deserves to be held to a higher standard. @@josephtao I completely forgot about lego dc lol

Exactly. Time to boycott this set

@@cristianr.s.5537 I was talking about the all the sets they made back then not just ucs
Let's ignore all the exclusive figures in the Cantina set.

Ryan is on point here. Behind you 110%.
I'm convinced the Lego Star Wars designers know nothing about Star Wars.
Same. At the very least they're completely out of touch with the fanbase.
Actually they know a lot because the LAAT is one of the most more accurate builds
They prob picked them off the streets and were like “ u wanna design lego sets?”
Yep I agree. Putting the imperial logo instead of the Republic is ridiculous. All it takes is a quick Google search
@@whitefanggamezzz7835 I'm pretty sure the guy who designed the build didn't select the minifigures
"Jango's starfighter"
LEGO: "What is it you want?"
Fans: "Commander Cody Phase II! Battlepacks! Minifigures for May the 4th!"
LEGO: "anyway...
Its no big deal but still...
whats a few extra sets compared to a huge knock on your reputation its bigge than just a logo it shows a lack of care and an out of touch attitude
I mean it kinda is a big deal bruh. Imagine them selling a xwing with an imperial logo.
“The FlipSide” camera shot challenged everything I expect from an MandR video 😂 It’s crazy how different that looked!
You forget that, while it is a bad figure choice, the airborne trooper was the last clone trooper with a waist cape.

Indeed

I really admire you Ryan, for what you’ve done and given up. You could easily have stayed in a program and gotten free sets and milked your audience to please lego and remain on their good side.
Thank you.
