halfway in and just want to thank you fudger. this is the type of stuff I really reeally enjoy hearing. i don't care as much for the current stuff but going back behind the scenes during Forward - I'd pay money to hear more about. well done.
I Grew up in North Leigh watching John on his Ramp that he put In our local adventure playground, got me into riding and I still ride today. Owe this guy alot although he probably only remembers the little kids watching him ride. The Ramp was burnt down in the end and I was gutted but it was where It all started for me. THANK YOU JP
Wow, @veilgaminguk9791 , so awesome, I never knew I had that influence, this means the world to me. So stoked you go into riding and are still doing it today. Much love !!!!❤
The conversation about micro marketing and the nature of an already tiny industry in flux is an important one, and it drives home why a company like Our BMX is so important. Industries change, and that change doesn't have to be good or bad. Future brands may not continue to support their riders the way they did in the past, and that might be okay. But the loss of media outlets dedicated to documenting and messaging the culture of BMX is its death knell. And that's the void Our BMX fills, thankfully!
Really good one! I'm 36 and growing up I always heard the name, saw some clips, and knew he was the TM, but didn't really know a lot about him. This was awesome!
Yes!!!!! Was not expecting a new episode today but something to help get me through my work day. The other videos I only watch on the TV so happy to have one for my ears or mostly for them.
WOW, Great f-ing show guys. Industry stuff was very insightful and this flew by. Mike should get a high5 for the effort of getting them pics, questions and quote from everyone. I'm blown away. TOOLARMY!
i don't usually watch podcasts, but this one with Povah was one i was really interested in for the North leigh/ Oxford connection. i'm 42 and from Witney, which is a few miles from North leigh and Combe bowl & although Povah had moved to the US by the time i switched from skateboarding to bmx in 93 -94, and never personally met him, the stories and photos of his ramp in North leigh seemed unreal. later dirt jumps were built in the woods at the common, and a few guys in the village rode flatland in the school playground. it was a tiny village back then, but over half the local bmxers came from there. so guess he inadvertedly created a scene that he never got to see. First time i was able to put a face to the name was Dirty deeds. Oxford itself had a pretty good ramp set up before the council chopped them up. A few of the Standard bykes riders stopped there for a demo, and as Alex knew Jerry Galley, he's sometimes turn up to boost the shit out of the ramps. Guys like Alex, Geoff cain and Steve McCormack were who us younger locals looked up to, and were the ones able to take us to KOC comp and Radlands. Bmx was so tiny back before the x games, but even then, in the UK, it was Shown on TV about 2am , so didn't really grow the sport that fast
Wow !! I seriously never knew I had any kind of impact on the scene locally, this makes me sooooo happy !!! .... I was just a kid from London who loved BMX and wanted to ride. It just goes to show, if you have a passion and keep doing what you do it'll inspire others .... Love y'all !!!
This episode slipped by me so I am late to the show but excited for it. I think a Plug for Dale’s could be in the future When you are not going to be drinking them. Is we are choosing to be responsible on this episode. LoL. I hope dale’s is happy supporting this show. Because of the show I did ask at 4 different bars, a theater and two restaurants in downtown San Diego last week. I came up empty, because of this show I did ask. I saw some pro street riders at the train station downtown I was kinda hyped I recognized Albert from a previous podcast. Two other guys a black guy and a white guy. I would hate to guess and be wrong. I could tell one was in the middle of a battle and didn’t want to mess up his flow so I kept walking. My buddy who lives down the block I told him when I see the clip I will send it. I only go downtown 1 or 2 times a year so I it cool to see the spots but I could never live like that. Anyway on 12-14-23 might have been the 15th at the point a curved bench at the train station downtown and am looking for some footage if anyone sees it pass along any info.
Man, that early footage is awesome, I have to admit I used to kind of discount that era because of the odd looking bikes, but there was some cool riding for sure.
Wow. Heavy episode. It feels like a lot came out of this one. Rooftop. Povah. Etnies. Even Nathan and the magazines had to answer some tough questions. Accountability all around boys! Povah is pretty Rad though, great show guys!🏆
Great episode. Love the inside the industry point of view. I think you could let Dale know I only know about the brand because of your show. I saw it on the shelves in a San Diego liquor store and because this show I picked up a chilly 6er.
Great episode. Don't understand why Rooftop won't let you have those tapes! Also surprised that Nathan's never made it out to the Nude Bowl in all the years!
@@mikeescamilla9640 I know it's a late comment but MAN when you and Povah were talking OC spots things came flooding back! Since you kill pools I would love to hear if you ever rode the pool manufacturer spot that was on the north side of Chapman across from Vans at the block right before the mall was built!? On the freeway frontage road of the 5? it had like 4-5 empty pools when they closed down. I remember just exploring this area and riding it 2 times before it was demolished and finding it was the greatest thing ever. Also did you ever ride the mall before it was "the block"? I think it was called the "city mall"? Had a ton of banked walls and features everywhere. Some other notable spots were the mini golf right across from disneyland (abandoned for years) on Harbor and all the slum hotels along Chapman and Harbor with empty pools before they cleaned that area up.
John povah, the perfect human being. Would love to see miron , osato and povah together and sad we may never see miron but he gave us everything when he rode we were lucky to see it and be apart of it then . Respect Auckland New Zealand
Whats up @Ful-OGold , thanks for the message. In my experience, Jay's far from mean, he's awesome, he's just on to a new chapter in his life and very busy building some of the best furniture in the game.
You can't compare the costs of MTB frames and suspension forks with BMX frames and forks. Although a top of the range DJ frame goes for around the same price as a standard cromo BMX frame. Full suspension frames will obviously be dearer...the only thing I didn't agree with tbf.
Thanks for the message, @gzdesh , its sincerely appreciated ... To respond to your comment: I didn't compare BMX forks to MTB forks, and a reputable DJ brands Frames are definitely more $$ than top of the line BMX (dirt jumping style) BMX frames
I honestly wouldn’t care if prices for frames and parts increased. It’s still cheaper than mountain bikes or road bikes. I will happily pay a little more to keep the industry thriving.
Wrong. The riders are just as broke as the industry. You’ll just end up having more riders riding cheap completes that don’t match the quality or they’ll be riding the same parts until failure and hopefully they don’t end up too badly hurt
If you want something, you'll figure out a way to get it, @@stoneyardbmx I promise. The issue is, is that BMX consumer has historically been taught that shit should be affordable (whether you think that's the case or not).... Why should a brand make things cheap just because you can't afford it, they're in biz to be sustainable and build their brand, the sport etc ? And honestly, if you're knowledgeable about product, design, quality, and serious about the sport, I VERY MUCH doubt you're going to go out and buy a cheap POS frame or bike knowing it'll risk your neck ?
NFT's will be a major source of rider income and financing cool projects in 2-3 years, with or without major brands and rider owned brands involved. Just wait. It's coming...

One of the best Unclicked Episodes for sure. Loved the industry talk
The Todd Lyons episode is nothing but good times and laughs too!
Really good one! I'm 36 and growing up I always heard the name, saw some clips, and knew he was the TM, but didn't really know a lot about him. This was awesome!
Awesome interview, didn't know about John before. He is one of a kind and what a life!
This is awesome. John's one of the two or three all around coolest people I met in BMX freestyle. Good guy, all around great human, and a great rider.
JP is the man, did a lot for us in South Africa with Etnies and connections. Thank you John!
Thanks for the kind message, @schogn_lee , its sincerely appreciated. Glad to help .... Much love 💗
Yes!!!!! Was not expecting a new episode today but something to help get me through my work day. The other videos I only watch on the TV so happy to have one for my ears or mostly for them.
I used to listen to these at work but i got brought into HR for wearing headphones at work.
Love the bmx history in this one. Unclicked episodes are life savers at work. Lol
another great episode!
WOW, Great f-ing show guys. Industry stuff was very insightful and this flew by. Mike should get a high5 for the effort of getting them pics, questions and quote from everyone. I'm blown away. TOOLARMY!
Such a legend. The man behind 2 of the arguably best teams in bmx at the time.
Jay got the credit, and all us older guys know it. It's today's bmx instagrammers that only remembers Dave doing it.
This one was extremely insightful, thank you for putting this one together guys

Obviously didn’t get to the end when I wrote this. You decided to drink the dales off the table.
man I love this episode. I learned a ton that I didn't know from the Mid school era! Keep up the great work.
You learn something mid everyday. Great podcast, and I literally had to pause after the twitter/myspace comments, too funny
So stoked on this one.
Not enough MIron stories
This was great, well done guys
Going to watch this later. Povah is the man!
Great pod wish there was links to all these old videos
Man, that early footage is awesome, I have to admit I used to kind of discount that era because of the odd looking bikes, but there was some cool riding for sure.
I met Povah and Treanor at the Van's Warped tour in Myrtle Beach moons ago
Wow. Heavy episode. It feels like a lot came out of this one. Rooftop. Povah. Etnies. Even Nathan and the magazines had to answer some tough questions. Accountability all around boys!
Povah is pretty Rad though, great show guys!🏆
The entire grounded DVD had a bonus section of Rueban’s insane wall ride and it had the footage where he blew up his wheel. You are welcome.
Can honestly say the episodes I’ve enjoyed the most .. mikes co-hosted .. I re-watched forward for the 1000th time after this #kidsofblackhole
Been wait for this one boys. Povah stories I am here for it.
Great episode. Love the inside the industry point of view. I think you could let Dale know I only know about the brand because of your show. I saw it on the shelves in a San Diego liquor store and because this show I picked up a chilly 6er.
So good.
If I buy a beer today, I will buy a Dales.
another great podcast! keep it up fudger and company.
Great episode. Don't understand why Rooftop won't let you have those tapes! Also surprised that Nathan's never made it out to the Nude Bowl in all the years!
Thanks for The Ultimate Weekend mention, Mike! Your check's in the mail. Heh, heh.
hahaha stoked

Yesssss, this is going to be sick!
That pro rider hero talk from Mike E. is real, i really have no interests in following the new guys at least from a rider from the mid 00's
John povah, the perfect human being. Would love to see miron , osato and povah together and sad we may never see miron but he gave us everything when he rode we were lucky to see it and be apart of it then . Respect Auckland New Zealand
We won’t see miron on here because he’s to much of a arrogant dick to share stories and preserve bmx history.
Thanks brother, its sincerely appreciated 🙂

Andrew Farris .. Flatlander.. the Schwinn. 36/24/36
Sleeveless T shirt = Tank Top
Aw that’s the word I was looking for Hahaa

Braden Dahl used to be head of marketing at New Era wtf I had no clue he fucked the Etnies program up lol
I had like 3 pairs of roof top shoes , the black with the 3 looked so good . Wish etnies would do a re run for all the mid schoolers.
DELIVER THE TAPES MIKE!!
I cleaned up the projectile vomit...
I transitioned from lookbacks to turnbacks at some point. Inspired by Joe Rich.
What a legend! 🤙
Great podcast. Why is it always about the industry?. How about just about riding your your bike?
All this flatland talk, how about an old school flat lander on the pod?
Good idea. I would definitely watch it. But I'm afraid it wouldn't get many views because flatland is not very popular with the current average rider.
4 top rider matt hofffman dave mirra and jay mirron dave asoto

That was awesome thanks guys!
