Nice finds! The 2 Regiment of Foot has buttons and badges with a lamb, crown and number 2 on them, so guessing it's one of theirs? Would most likely would be bone apparently. Stunning - do love a good button 😀
Thank you for that info mate, I've not managed to find anything with the animal at the top yet. The 2nd regt of foot ones I've found have only got the crown and the 2 🤔
@@DiggerDanMetalDetecting I can't find the one I saw now! But I have seen lamb and crown ones. The regiment was also known as the Queen's Royal Regiment as well. I've seen a mix of lamb, crown and 2's but not all together (apart from the one I now can't seem to find!) - interesting!
Button, possibly 2nd regiment of foot , then became West surrey regiment (The lamb)...possibly a transition period button ?

I’d say the silver button is a regimental button, but I don’t know by British military units well enough to say which one. I’m sure someone on here can ID it though.

Loving the button pawn , when you explained about last weeks mystery find it took me back , when it came out of the hole I thought that’s a folding cork screw case, my dad had one many years ago , his was silver plate but when you said medieval I thought no it can’t be , just goes to show first instincts are usually right ! Great find .
