  • The complete "Stars Nuclear Furnace" episode.
The "White Dwarf Red Giants" episode begins at 28:00 minutes.
The original title of this series of basic astronomy videos is "Project: Universe"
Sorry about these "chop up" sections of the episodes.
The original recordings of these episodes were done onto analog VHS tape from analog TV broadcasts many years ago.
I have many VHS tapes with assorted episodes from many TV series so editing them all is not possible. VHS tapes were analog, and not digital.
1970s Basic Astronomy series aired on my local PBS TV station KCET, Channel 28, L.A., California.
I have a bunch of episodes from this series on VHS tapes but not all of them.

Talk about a Time Warp, again 😲! This is Fantastic! I remember when we first got cable TV in s central Florida (73)& seeing Prof. Knupp on Chicago channel...Loved seeing this guy and Chicago...I knew that there were civilized societies and cable TV proved it!!!

We didn't get cable in North Hollywood until the late 1970s because the two local cable companies were at each other's throats in some kind of territory turf squabble in court.
When the squabble was settled the winning company did a half-ass job wiring our house for cable.
We let them have it and they returned acting snotty and fixed the wiring.
Not much civilization out here in the Wild West then, and almost none now.
At a bookstore out here Prof. Krupp, who was the boss of the Griffith Park Observatory in L.A., and I were entering and exiting a bookstore at the same time.
We apologized to each other for almost crashing into each other.
He had an egg stain on his tie, and I was going to use that as an excuse to introduce myself and mention how much I enjoyed the Project Universe series, but I chickened out.
I was always chickening out with celebrities and even with the gals.
Well, I am an old goat now. I am glad I recorded lots of stuff from those times.

I feel the same way about the soothing, mesmerizing, production style of this series.
The calm music, the un-frenzied gentle style of editing, the soothing voice of the narrator made this an outstanding educational series that is rewatchable.
I will upload the rest of the episodes that I taped onto VHS tapes in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
      Thanks for your comment.

Excellent! I remember watching these (with Dr. Krupp) when I was a teenager. If, as you state above, you have more, I'd definitely be interested. New subscriber!

      Thank You for subscribing.
I thought that I had videotaped all the episodes in the Project Universe series, but it seems that I only recorded maybe half of the episodes. I will have to check my file collections carefully.
I have a WordPad file document with a list of all the episodes.
In the meantime, I will upload what I have found iso far.
      Thanks for your interest.

Can't be certain, bit this looks like the video astronomy class I took at community college in the early 80's. They called it a telecourse. We used a textbook, watched VHS tapes, and met in a classroom like once a month.

I found my list of all the episodes in this Basic Astronomy series.
This week I will attach my WordPad list of the episodes to this Playlist.
Wow, you really got into the series bigtime.
I would watch the episodes sprawled out on my lounge chair and let myself get hypnotized by the atmospheric quality of the episodes.
