    How long is that tunnel?

No need to stop at Burbank airport, not much airlines except Southwest or JetBlue who are low cost airlines fly out of it

Also, they are more likely short haul. That diminishes the advantage of having high speed rail connections as people who use the airport for short haul flight are those live nearby but not far away, they choose another closer airport instead

there are earth moving contractors that have hundreds of pieces of giant tractors and earth movers.. they tear down mountains to put in housing tracts.. why not have them up between palm dale and action.. did a deep wide trench instead of spending billions on miles of tunnels.. Egypt just dug a Suez canal parallel channel.

I don't think I'll live to ever see the tunnel completed, unless I live until 2525. :(

The news are in: The fastest way to cross a mountain range is using tunnels.

I can't wait for service to open, flying sucks and driving is so boring.

This will never be completed in my life time. Newsom says the High Speed Rail will not go any further south than Bakersfield during his term..

Gavin Newsoms term started January 2019, and ends January 2023. (Did he really mean every term he's in office?) The initial serivce on Bakersfiels-San Fransisco is planned to start in 2025. Service on Bakersfield-Los Angeles is not planned before 2033, so unless he is planning to serve as Governor for 4 terms, he is probably right.

It will be completed. Just not in yours or Newsom’s time.

Why is this bypassing Canyon Country? They wouldn't have to tunnel through the San Gabriels if they went a little farther north. They could follow 14 elevated or surface.
A tunnel in Earthquake Country bisecting the San Andreas Fault? Stupid.

    Ridiculous nonsense. Impossible and impractical.

Tunnel? In Southern California Earthquake territory? No thanks! 😬

Tunnels are very safe for earthquakes though

    • @zaired

if a earthquake hit and you were on an elevated highway there is a good chance it would crumble
but on a tunnel in a train, nothing will happen.
There has never been a single accident in Japan with high speed trains even in a tunnel

@@zaired People would know that if they actually did some damn research.

They've survived a huge earthquake going under San Francisco Bay with BART. Japan has had some huge quakes, and the tunnels have survived.

This is another ridiculous liberal fantasy.
