this is a place big buiz export the ground water via food/greens to north europe. driving this buiz with modern slaves who have no papers/passport, no shelter, no contract, no toilet, no bathroom, no running water. the field of plastic tents is so big, can see it from space. wow, beautyfull !
Yes, absolutely. Almeria is stunning if you are tourist. Not so much if you are an undocumented African worker living like a modern-day slave inside 50 degree plastic greenhouses just so a few big producers can earn a big profit from exporting food to Northern Europe.

I have been there a week ago. The drone footage is nice, yes. But if you do a walk through the city it is very ugly. I gotta admit that it is the ugliest among a hundred of cities I have been to. And the plastic fields around it are just ... how can I unsee it. I really wanted to like the city.
Recently the entire city is making big improvements, projects, rehabilitation and reform of old buildings and the castle, rebuilding the entire port and making it more open to the civilians with restaurants and a observation deck with stores and restaurant in the tower you saw in the port which now is a private building with people working in there but it will become available for their rehabilitation and reforms too for the project. They are fixing a lot of streets too and building more with more new streets and hoods.
The city hall also recently is studying a new project for remove a lot of those plastic fields near the city in the river to have a better look and more clean of the city and fix things but this obviously have problems because you need to consider that there are a lot of farmers working in there and they are worried about the city hall removing their lands and works so now is going a dispute between the city hall and the farmers to reach an agreement and agree with the project
The only and major issue right now is the trash and dirt in a lot of streets I think this city reminded you too much of how dirt New York was in the 80s
