Good on ya Ian!!
I remember being a naive 19 year old in Townsville back in 1997 and I seen you and your partner at the rockpool and I hopped out of the pool and stared at you guys cause I was uncomfortable. I'm disgusted at myself for that and I'll never get the chance to apologize properly and shake your hand so I'm doing it now here in public. Much love man, I'm proud of you and you were a great footy player ❤🍻✌
I was fortunate enough to be coached by the great Ian Roberts as a kid when he was in Wigan. Legend of a player but chose to give up his free time to work with young players.
Loved watching Ian Roberts play when I was kid. The guy was a monster and my favourite forward.
A Superman on the field and a Super Human being off. Loved watching Ian play thinking he personified Beast and Beauty. I never forget he was a competitor on Treasure Island and the ladies were eyeing Troy Flavell, former All Black lock-loosie, coo-ing and then Ian walks in...jaws drop lol. My favourite league player.
Great interview. Legend for breaking down the barriers and being selflessly brave to help others.
Ian Roberts was a great Rugby League player, a trailblazer, and is a national treasure.
My Dad told me when I was playing 35 years ago that Ian was the player I needed to model my game on. The hardest man in the game. When he came out he broke every mold on perceived masculinity.
I did however copy his dance moves. These were more attainable.
Huge respect for Ian and what he stands for.
Awesome person, awesome legend of rugby league. Remember as a youngster in New Zealand, reading the Rugby League Week magazine and Ian Roberts, Paul Sironen, David Gillespie, Trevor Gillmeister. Roberts was just a hard working, hard hitting bloke and no steps backwards. Complete legend sir.
Great chat

"anyone wanna' get to Ian!?!, gotta get through me first"! I learnt that from my older Brother!

Could only be more of a legend if he played for Parra 💪
Poor Gary Jack from the Tigers hasn't been the same since Roberts punched the holy shite out of him.🤣🤣🤣
Ian Roberts, what a Man. Legit.
He changed a lot people’s attitudes
Got bashed by Graig young and his partner Robert stone because they worked as detective’s at st George police station’,,I’m die hard manly supporter Ian Roberts was a machine/ now legend on and off the field he can play N party
So the story goes, Garry Jack made a remark about Ian's sexuality during a game. Did not end well for him.
