I think to be fully compatible with each other a couple should at least have some interests in common.. That someone is beautiful is not enough, there must be an intellectual connection too.

English? The guy is not a teacher. Find her a teacher that she likes. I have an aunt who moved to America and after 30 years she is still shy to speak English because she never finished high school or worked outside the house. She failed the citizenship test. I suggest let her go to school and work. She needs to get out of the house and will learn little from him. Figure out what movies she likes to watch and encourage her to watch with English subtitles ON.

But you're right about learning the language somewhere else if OP can't help her with it. Better yet, they better split up and go their separate ways since it seems nothing's working for them since communication is bonkers. Just my two cents.
