Teaser - Ep 003: I Lost My Father To Suicide; That's Why This Episode is So Special

September is suicide prevention awareness month and September 10th is world suicide prevention day. The world observes these events by talking about suicide prevention and promoting resources and awareness, including: how you can help others and how to talk about suicide.
This is personal to me and as some of you know, I lost my father to suicide. Losing a loved one to suicide can be devastating. There is no easy prescription for recovering from the loss, but what I have learnt is that there are things you can do to better cope and ease the pain. Going for therapy has been one of those things for me.
I had a sit down with Dr. Eunice, the CEO of Ponca Mental Health Clinic and we had an eye opening conversation on mental health matters. Ponca Mental Health Clinic is a diaspora Initiative based in Kenya that addresses issues of behavioral and mental illness in all ages. They also specialize in outpatient Alcohol and Drug Addiction trauma-informed recovery treatment.
In the US, Dr. Eunice is a Psychology Professor specialized in Developmental Psychology and Family Science. She has over a decade success of working with children, families and communities.

This channel is for my Kikuyu audience as I have been on vernacular TV for some time now and I'm glad I get to launch a TH-cam show in my first language that I love and I'm eloquent in.
The channel is called Gìikaro Na Nonsizi Wa Ng’ethe which is a Kikuyu name that translates to ‘A Sit Down with Nonsizi Ng’ethe’. I began the show in early 2020 at the onset of the covid-19 pandemic but we took a break after a few months to strategize and come back big and better. The weekly show will be tackling a wide variety of societal issues like career, financial literacy, mental wellness, relationships and entertainment.
