Grand video I have not been home to Portlaoise since August 2001, so am a bit lost now in which way was 080 going, I am ex BR last job I held was stores supervisor, have got family back home in Portlaoise that work for Irish Rail
your welcome man, i have a shot of 082 in kildare on the dfds and and also passing ossory road with an iwt liner last year, be hoping to try and get more of her this year
I filmed the trains in the order they appear in the video. The IWT liner ran early for some reason and came into Kildare soon after 9:30am. I did not keep track of the times everything else arrived unfortunately but I know the Limerick to Inchicore wagon transfer passes around 10am and the Inchicore to Limerick transfer leaves Inchicore at 11:50. Thursday is the best day to go to Kildare for sure as you are guaranteed that a lot of loco hauled stuff will pass Kildare. I look forward to your video. I think 082 is on the transfer tomorrow too!
The Irish Mainline Ah, ok, think i saw you yesterday. Good for you for not being a tresspasser, alot of train spotters do, then again, alot dont! Tony. PS, never saw sir toots alot :P
I prob saw you too, were you with Matthew and the other lads from the north? Must say hello the next time, was all rush rush yesterday with me chasing it the length of the Wat - Lim line. Oh and Darren Jones (to give him his proper name!) was the driver on the Wat - Lim Jctn section! We've both made peace since, got a handshake and all off him at Carrick! :o
The Irish Mainline XD Yes i was, i was the one with long hair, a cheaqured shirt & a DSLR camera (Morgan also had DSLR) . God for you, i hope that you & Mr. Jones stay friends. Glad you got some gd shots, must say hello if we see each other again :D Tony.
tonybonneyba train films Ah yes I remember seeing you now! In fact think I could have been next to you on the platform at Tipperary and never realised :P There's always another day anyway :) Saw the timber passing down here today (hadn't the cam with me so no shots) and got a friendly toot and a big wave from Darren!! What a turnaround from a month or two back :D
Signalling is centralised in most places. Kildare, like most of the network is controlled by CTC (Centralised Traffic Control). Which I think is in Athlone.

Cool trains and nice action! Thumbs up!
Excellent shots !
awesome shots man, nice to see 082 back on the dfds again :)
Thanks Joseph. It was on the IWT liner but it made one hell of a sound and my video doesn't do it justice.

Sorry, I'm wrong. 082 worked an entirely empty IWT liner today which I mistook for a wagon transfer.
Thanks for the information. I will be heading there either tomorrrow or next Thursday.
Great vid Seán but honestly, the state of me @ 10:10 :D Long way off the Olympics anyway :P
