This is my note from this lecture:
Hurdle of the Hurt. The heart serves 2 functions for us believers.
1. To see the truth as truth.
2. To push you towards what you need to do.
You need to protect your heart and work towards bettering it and keep watching it. Out of the 5 limbs that you need to watch, the heart is the most critical one, it has the biggest effect.
2 things Allah is looking at when you do anything, the action and the intention in the heart. The heart is the thing Allah is looking at. All of us prepare for our day based on what people are going to see because we know what people are going to look at, the face which the creation looks at but Allah looks at our heart, the creator cares what is inside our heart. We try to beautify our looks so that none of the creations of Allah can see our flaws but none of us are focusing on our hearts. Don’t let people's gaze upon you be more important than Allah’s gaze upon you.
The heart is the king and every other limb follows it. If the heart is dirty, the backbiting will come automatically.
There are healthy hearts, there are sick hearts, and there are dead hearts. Your heart needs things that’ll protect its health. The way you make your heart stronger is through the actions of righteousness and obedience towards Allah by remembering Allah. Then you need to protect your heart from the negative influences, the disobedience of Allah.
Developing you heart means developing yourself the qualities that a heart should have that is connected to Allah. Trust in Allah, dependence on Allah, submission to Allah, no jealousy, no hatred, and etc.
Your heart is a treasure chest of every beautiful quality that can come from you but every dangerous quality can come from it as well. So, you have to protect this thing. Treat it as a valuable thing. Because the most valuable things you can produce in life starts from here and the most wretched thing that you can do also starts from here.
Everything starts from the heart. It is your heart that recognizes Allah. It is your heart that comes with good intentions and it is your heart that motivates you to do good. The war is a war of hearts and as long as your heart stays firm on the deen of Islam you are winning. You can close your mouth, you can cover your eyes and ears but the heart never stops.
The intention of the believer is stronger than the action of the believer. So, always think about doing good deeds. The one thinking about righteous deeds is getting the reward of the one doing it. If you are not thinking about good deeds then your minds going to wonder around and you will end up in a bad place doing a bad deed.
The heart is difficult to cure. The problem with your heart is that you don’t know about the changes it's doing cause it's you. It’s your heart so you don’t realize the changes. On this path of righteousness, the most critical thing you need is another friend for the sake of Allah. the hardship that comes to the heart they come quick and the heart fluctuates quick. The heart when it makes mistakes makes major mistakes. So we must focus on fixing the heart and curing it.
4 things if you solve within your heart, your heart will be good:
1. Hopes and expectations. Far extended hopes and expectations. Don’t put off doing good deeds for the future.
2. Being hasty.
3. Jealousy.
4. Arrogance.
Foundations of good heart and good qualities to solve them:
1. Shortening your hope.
2. Being deliberate thinking about things when you do it.
3. Wishing good for other people.
4. Humble yourself
May Allah bless this brother and all of us
