My (Kevin's) work has been full on, so we had to wait a few days to enjoy this vid..... We genuinely enjoyed spending 25 minutes with you guys sharing your 💩 😂 We move in to Nellie in 9 days time full time and we've talked about the toilet being one of the learning processes. We need to be local mostly for our first few months and will end up in campsites for a lot of that time and so capacity and opportunity won't necessarily be issues. Once we're on the move more, we'll see how we go. A great video with lots of top info and food for thought. Enjoy your remaining time in SA and look forward to your European adventures starting again. You were our first 'vanlifers' we found on TH-cam and we can never understand why your channel hasn't got 1000s more followers. Keep the faith 💙 Kevin & Nicky
Thank you both so much for your always lovely words of encouragement, it really means a lot to us! 😊 There are many things that you will only learn and figure out once on the road. It's an ongoing process (as you've no doubt seen from our video's 😝) and also part of the experience! All the best for your last week of preparation and hope your new adventure will get off to a wonderful start! 😍
Hi there great info lots of answers to my thoughts and concerns on alternatives to what's everyday van life reality. Love from Australia. Happy travels 😊
Thank you for the information guys, I am moving to a full time living van situation next year and the first thing I need to change is the cassette toilet for a separating toilet, for me they just work much better
Just started watching this video but paused to comment. You guys are officially the Toilet Meister's ! That's it, that's all I wanted to say. Now to watch the video.....
I have been waiting anxiously, legs crossed, for this video!😅 Thanks for showing us the options. The 17l cassette is a real limitation to our autonomy. With the separation toilet I wonder if it is possible to connect an external urine line to the existing grey tank. Do you think that would be acceptable for disposal since it would be diluted with the shower and sink water?
No, we definitely would not recommend that! Not so much from a disposal point of view but more for the smells coming from your grey tank! In our experience it's best to keep your grey tank as clean as possible and also empty as often as possible. In our opinion using "pee bottles" is a much better option.
I went with the Simploo for my boat. Shipping to Europe was no issue until I was hit by 25% VAT and customs fees. It would have been cheaper for me to fly to the UK and collect it myself!
Ouch! It was the shipping time (as we're on the move) as well as those unknown fees that swayed it for us (thanks Brexit)😋. Hope you're settling in nicely in Portugal!
This is so true what you’re telling about where people emptying there cassette or rinse it clean, terrible 😖 I also find it very brave of you two every time you have new ideas and have to put holes in Milli. I guess by now you miss Milli a lot and looking forward to new adventures. 👋
😂 We do still get very nervous making holes in Milli, but it always ends up worth while! One advantage of having an older van I guess 😝 Yes, we can't wait to get back to Milli and set off on our next adventure! Thanks for joining us!
Fantastic Best solution 👌 Chemical Toilet fluid additive is Vile Washing up liquid is much better. But your Separation is way better.. 50/50 urine n water = Fertiliser So you can add to any roadside Greenery Stay Free and Safe Travels 😊 🇮🇪
Really getting to the nitty gritty of mh living! The Separett site seems to say empty the solid once per week and the liquid 2-3 times per week. Does that sound right or do you end up emptying it more frequently to avoid smell buildup? 🤢
That sounds about right! And we really haven't had any smells with the fan running. But that's the nice thing, it's so easy should you want to empty more regularly. Good luck!
More for the ladies but when you have a pee do you add normal water to it or not and do the men have to sit down to pee? A great video we built our first van so we knew where everything was including electrics and water now we have a factory built motorhome I am bit worried about adding electrics because I don't know where they start and finish.
Hi guys! We don't add water, just a bit of vinegar to break down the crystals. And yes, you have to sit down else the valve is raised and there may be some spills. Electrics can be daunting as all vehicles are different. I would start with looking at the option of replacing the hab battery with lithium. Might be a straight swop but the 220V charger (voltage converter) and solar charger might also need replacement. Enjoy your new motorhome!
Who would have thought a video about toilets could be so interesting. I actually didn't know that there were other options apart from the Cassette option. Sometimes, we have to talk about the un-speakables....
Please include a Serbian translation in each of your videos because you have a lot of followers from Serbia, Montenegro and Republika Srpska. Thank you and you are wonderful💕💮🌺

For sure! We're on our second year now since the change and it's been brilliant.
Very Timely and helpful review for me!

Well🤭 very interesting and informative video👌
🤣 Put you off vanlife for good?! 😜
@@WeWillNomad for sure, I will rather book my accommodation. I am a very high maintenance camper.🙈
😂 No problem with that, so long as you're honest with yourself!

It's actually quite funny how the topic of toilets ALWAYS come up when you spend some time with other motorhome and van travelers. 😋
This is extra burden for C class RV. When I use Campervan I never has such issue. The porta porty is only for emergency.
