I replaced mine and the iac at the same time and it wasn't the issue. Now I've got to drop the tank and get a fuel pump in there. If it doesn't fix it, then ill need a new computer. Annoyed, but my Durango is sentimental.
If it is still not working after installation, try relearning the sensor. That was my issue. Off the top of my head, Turn the key to on without starting, and the check engine light will start blinking. Wait til it stops and press the Gas pedal and let off slowly. Note: there is a video on it.
I just had a 2006 4.7 rebuilt. Vehicle wont idle very long and shuts off completely when I accelerate . The dash readout is Trans over temp when I crank it back up. I have replaced O2 censors , IAC, and both trans filters and trans fluid.
Check for a leaking vacuum line (could be the idle issue). The transmission over temp sounds like an issue where the transmission lines are either clogged or not connected properly to the transmission cooler or radiator. Also check to make sure the fins are free of debris at the radiator/trans cooler.
I just bought a 2004 Durango w/ only 160k miles on it for $2,800. I bought it because it’s basically doing what you described. If that is the problem then I got a great deal. Here is what it’s doing.. Revs to high RPM in park. Hesitates at initial acceleration. Accelerates rapidly when throttled. Does that sound like the sensor to you? Thanks for your channel. I subbed
The most common failure on my 2006 Dodge Durango is that sensor. It's literally wiring harness and the sensor swap out. A lot of different years they went over towards doing t15. I keep a t15 screwdriver in my glove box and a second warrantied sensor. 5 minutes to swap out 😊

I have a 2005 Durango maf/map an 02 sensor codes keep showing even after replacing it an shuts off under load unless it’s been driving for 20 or more min plus shifting early an want downshift no matter how much gas you give it unless you stop
I have a 2014 Jeep compass my etc light came on the shop said my throttle body was bad wanted to charge me over $600 to fix it so I grabbed my 16teen year old step son who is in school learning to be a mechanic. And we got a throttle body offline and we change it and the gasest and it still does it the light still comes on and everything he said it could be the sensor but we can't find it can you please help with this matter 🙏🙏🙏 and I don't have a sensor like the one on my thottle body wondering if you know anything about Jeep compass thank you
@@Chefbcooking , after doing some research, it appears it can be several things...An accelerator pedal sensor, the PCM (power control module) and even loose or over heated wiring. I just uploaded a video on reading trouble codes. See if that helps narrow down your problem. th-cam.com/video/vstj0GR9U6c/w-d-xo.html Once you have read the trouble codes, and depending on the information gathered, you may still need to take it to the dealership or automotive mechanic that can read the electronic outputs of the vehicle to see what exactly is happening. I have not worked on a Jeep Compass, but from what I have read in my research....the ETC light is caused by many different problems. I would look at the Accelerator Pedal Sensor as my first (cheapest) part and then go from there. I do not believe that your vehicle has a throttle position sensor and you have already changed out the throttle body....good luck and please share with me, here, what you find out!

Awesome tip on how to change car part and great tip on how to get things cheaper!!
Michael Chen thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
Do this and the IAC at the same time since your visiting the same neighborhood! 👍
Got the tps for $6 on rock auto. Fixed the problem
Hi, Yes i agree, these were great tips, and also very well done and well spoken, keep it up.

Sounds exactly like the TPS sensor. Any codes, check engine lights?
Hello I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 4.7 and I'm have rough idle dying out rpm gage going crazy think this could be my problem???
You don't have to take all that stuff off to get to the TPS sensor. You can get to it easily without removing it all.

Would a bad sensor also make it accelerate on its own?
It is possible to have erratic throttle response with bad sensors. Let me know what you find out
Would this problem also make it accelerate on its own?
would a bad TPS cause a crank but not start scenario?
What's the hose above the tps?
My TPS came with a new O ring. Shouldn't I replace it as well?
I would.
I didn’t remove any air box stuff. Was still very easy.
I can't take my tps off that easy lol.....any other suggestions?

Every thing you said in this video is happening to my car and yes I was shotgun troubleshoot 😂😂that's a good one
Or could it be my accelerator pedal throttle

Throttle position sensor plug for a 2006 Dodge 1500
That's not a 2004, that body style is from a 2005-2011. It's the 3rd gen.
😂😂😂 dang, I bought it new, owned it for all those years, paid the tag yearly, and bought all those parts and now you tell me it’s the wrong year….
Yeah it’s a 2004.
My 2004 dose not have a separate sensor it is part of the throttel body
