I have always had an interest in animatronics, even before FNaF. It is cool how they can make things looks so real. Truely amazing. I also just really like robots.

these are beautiful! practical over full CGI any day. not saying CGI is useless but having a mix and match of animatronic/prosthetic/CGI has a lot more weight than a film/show full of things that aren't there
This isn't FNAF. These are professionals who create animatronics for movies ETC, this was from 2011, and this is just a compilation of them. This channel doesn't make animatronics, so asking to make fnaf animatronics won't do anything. Furthermore, the people who make these wouldn't care much either, they have actual contracts to uphold, this isn't just some hobby. You know, I really want to like FNAF, but too many far too young children are just ruining it.

Tbh I liked FNaF, well did, now its just over-hyped and everyone makes a huge deal out of it. Can we please just stop associating every friggin animatronic with Five Nights At Freddy's? FNAF didn't invent animatronics; real mechanics put blood, sweat, and tears into making these robots try to move as realistically and life-like as possible, but all you guys care about is wanting them to make some product off a video game.
For anyone wondering why this looks so much more realistic than CGI: Animatronics... are physical. They're in the real world, created using parts which have actual weight to them. This means that animatronics have an automatic advantage over CGI: Lack of "floatiness". Bad CGI lacks weight to it- it has no feeling of grounding to the world, it takes no time for movement, etc... whereas in animatronics, this problem often doesn't come into play because of how heavy the animatronics are likely to be. Also on the topic of animatronics being physical, we have the fact that as animatronics are in the real world, they also are subject to real world lighting, and it doesn't have to be programmed in. This means that animatronics will always look realistically lighted, and the lighting itself doesn't have to be programmed like in CGI. This, again, is one of the reasons why CGI often looks worse than animatronics: because they get the lighting wrong. The weight the animatronics have also means their animations are much more realistic. It takes energy and time to move, to walk- to raise your eyebrows or to frown. It doesn't happen instantaneously. Most high-budget animatronics (not the ones you would find at chuck-e-cheese, ones in this real) have extreme care and precision put into their design and animations, pretty much equivalent to the level of care put into the animation and design of CGI characters/objects. The baby at 1:58 is the result of at least 3 people simultaneously coordinating finely-tuned movements, something which is quite difficult to pull off. Then we also have the fact that animatronics are used not only as standalone characters but as prosthetics. A fully animatronic... bison? Such as in the case of 1:06 would not look very realistic considering how limited its motions would be, but the combination of a human actor with the animatronic bison head *sells* the idea that this is an anthropomorphic bison rather than just an animatronic. CGI relies heavily on good lighting, good physics, and impressive levels of detail (along with a whole lot more which i cannot even begin to get into) to even achieve some level of believability. Animatronics do not. The lighting and physics part is done for them.

I'm still wondering why so much crappy CGI is used in movies when you can actually make things that looks so nice like yours. Especially when you can lit and test stuff right on the set. I love the squirrel with the half skin showing the mecanics. I would definitely buy something like that.
There's a lot of reasons. But basically, they all fall under the fact that individual animatronics costs a lot of money and time. A single animatronic can take from several months to several years for development and finalization depending on it's complexity. The simpler ones that don't take as much time (and only have simple mechanisms such as blinking and mouth movement) can only be used for at most, a couple of scenes before it starts to become how glaringly obvious it is to the viewer that it's actions are looped/preprogrammed. The more complex and realistic looking ones though, take so much time that most directors just deem It unecessary if it's for a simple role. Not to mention additional fees for upkeep of the animatronic, repairs if ever it breaks down (and repair takes a lot of time so the entire filming schedule is wrecked if it breaks down) , and additional pay for the animatronic's handlers. CGI on the other hand, doesn't require as long of prep time as long as you've got a lot of animators on board, you can get whatever you want out of it without having to comission for an entirely new animatronic every few scenes, doesn't have a high risk of wrecking the filming schedule, and costs about the same anyway
Technology today is incredible! All of these animatronics are so realistic. As a kid I just thought most of these things were really good CGI then I thought they wouldn't look like that if they were CGI after watching this video I was amazed imagine how much work goes into making these animatronics

I love the squirrel with the half skin showing the mecanics. I would definitely buy something like that.
There's a lot of reasons. But basically, they all fall under the fact that individual animatronics costs a lot of money and time. A single animatronic can take from several months to several years for development and finalization depending on it's complexity. The simpler ones that don't take as much time (and only have simple mechanisms such as blinking and mouth movement) can only be used for at most, a couple of scenes before it starts to become how glaringly obvious it is to the viewer that it's actions are looped/preprogrammed. The more complex and realistic looking ones though, take so much time that most directors just deem It unecessary if it's for a simple role.
Not to mention additional fees for upkeep of the animatronic, repairs if ever it breaks down (and repair takes a lot of time so the entire filming schedule is wrecked if it breaks down) , and additional pay for the animatronic's handlers.
CGI on the other hand, doesn't require as long of prep time as long as you've got a lot of animators on board, you can get whatever you want out of it without having to comission for an entirely new animatronic every few scenes, doesn't have a high risk of wrecking the filming schedule, and costs about the same anyway

Technology today is incredible! All of these animatronics are so realistic. As a kid I just thought most of these things were really good CGI then I thought they wouldn't look like that if they were CGI after watching this video I was amazed imagine how much work goes into making these animatronics
