  • This tutorial demonstrates a turbulent pipe flow problem. This is part 1 of the tutorial. The procedure to create the 2D geometry & the Meshing using a biased setting has been shown in this tutorial. for solver setup & post-processing you can watch part 2 of this tutorial. he link has been provided below.
    In this tutorial, we will see how to set up a turbulent pipe flow problem,
    What will you learn?
    ✔2D Geometry in ANSYS Design Modeler.
    ✔Edge sizing in Meshing.
    ✔Mapped face Meshing.
    ✔Bias setting in Meshing

    how to change (,) to (.) like you? Thank you

    May i ask, why does Yplus value decrease with x in the Yplus chart?

    Awesome video, very informative and helpful! What is the reasoning behind using the Bias factor? under what circumstances should I use the bias factor when meshing? The reason i ask is that there was a similar video you posted a few years ago and I don't think the bias factor was used on that one for the turbulent pipe flow.

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bias factor is used to increase no of cells near the wall boundary to capture the solution at the near wall region properly.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the video. Could you explain why you did the meshing for edges separately? Specifically, can you please explain why the bias is done reversely?

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is to create a structured cells for more no. of cells at the near the boundary wall.

      Thank you for the response. May be I was not very clear before. My question is what is the difference between bias for inlet and outlet. You mentioned that you do a reverse bias for outlet, but the end result looks similar with meash spacing increasing towards center.

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once you should try to put a single bias on both edges without a reverse bias and see the difference. The purpose of putting reverse bias is that only.

    This tutorial is great, but i have a problem. I'm using Ansys Discovery Aim, for students, and it works on a different way. For example, I don't know where to select whether the geometry is 2D or 3D and also the way to find how to mesh is pretty different. Do you have any tutotial for Ansys Discovery Aim? A relation on where to find the commands would be also great.

      Sorry , we have no tutorials on Ansys AIM. You should read the ANSYS AIM manual to know more about it as it dont have much tutorials as of now.

    Dear Sir, can you make a video about performance estimation of a turbine inside a turbulent flow pipe? So you have the turbulent pipe videos and the turbine performance videos but not a combinational. I am a beginner in ansys but I guess there will be differences when you combine them! Thanks a lot.
