      Is there a way to open a Portuguese bank Account while leaving overseas?
      Moreover, would passive income through rental income be sufficient? (Btw the property is in my mum's name but I do get the official rent on paper)
      Thanks (:

      @@zathkal4004 Hi!, I haven't done it myself, but from reading blogs and watching videos from other people, there are two ways: pay a relocation service to open the account for you. I don't know how much it costs, but I remember I read somewhere it costs 150 (USD or euros Im not sure). The second way is going to a bank in your country that has services in Portugal and ask them to open an account for you. It seems people from Brazil might be able to pull this off. The third way I just discovered yesterday is Atlantico: a service that allows you to open an account online. Again, I haven´t tried it yet, so be careful: www.atlantico.eu/particulares

    Hi Julia - I just found your channel yesterday. Thank you for all the information!
    However - I think you missed one or two points -
    1. You listed opening a Bank Account in Portugal before you mentioned getting an NIF. You need the NIF first, to open the Bank Account.
    2. You said the FBI Background Check has to be Apostilled. I have been told by several people - DO NOT OPEN THE FBI REPORT. If you DO - THEN it would have to be Apostilled.
    I'm just beginning the process of gathering materials for the D7. I intended to do it a couple of years ago - then COVID put my plans on hold. Hope to be able to move to Portugal this year. I will look for more of your Videos!

As i am researching on this D-7 visa application for me and my wife (both are senior citizens) with our Pension and investment passive incomes and wish to do it on our own, as "consultants" in this area are pretty expensive and most of the cases are not needed. You opened your bank account in Portugal. Did you also get your Nin Portugal? Were you able to get your Health Insurance without a NIF? You said you got your Health Insurance through your bank--you mean your Portuguese or your American bank?

      Hi there, thanks for the question. I got my NIF in Portugal, which I understand is a bit hard at the moment. I had the NIF before I got health insurance, and the health insurance was through my Portuguese bank. To get a NIF and bank account online, see if this helps: www.renovatinglife.com/resources

  • @arifkhan9211
    @arifkhan9211 ปีที่แล้ว

    The requirements or conditions for D7 visa (like NIF, Bank Account and rental agreement, while being over seaseas) are very illogical, irrational and unreasonable. They don't appeal to common sense. They are complicated and troublesome for the applicants.
    The portugal immigration should review, rationlize and simplify these conditions and requirements in order to make them convenient, easy and applicant-friendly for they people who have sufficient passive income to meet their requirement and they wish to relocate to Portugal (as they are mostly retired and senior citizens)

    Hey Julia! Thank you so much for this informative video! Like you, I plan to first apply for my NIF and open my portuguese bank account. I don't have passive income or investments, however I do have a lot of savings. I plan to put roughly 20-25k euros in the portuguese bank account in the next few months ( I also want to show consistency in the deposits) Would that be sufficient enough? or will I be still required to hold some sort of remote job?

    Love your channel! I'm confused about why a Portuguese bank account has to be opened. How much do you have to have deposited and what's the purpose of the funds-- can a substantial amount count toward the money required for a D7 visa?

    • @JuliaRochelleAbroad
      @JuliaRochelleAbroad  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can open an account on a visit to Portugal. If I remember correctly, you'll need a NIF prior to opening the account. I went with Caixa Geral de Depositos, but to be honest the set up was a little difficult. I've been happy banking with them since though!
