      Thanks Julia for all the information (:
      Is there a way to open a Portuguese bank Account while leaving overseas?
      Moreover, would passive income through rental income be sufficient? (Btw the property is in my mum's name but I do get the official rent on paper)
      Thanks (:

      @@zathkal4004 Hi!, I haven't done it myself, but from reading blogs and watching videos from other people, there are two ways: pay a relocation service to open the account for you. I don't know how much it costs, but I remember I read somewhere it costs 150 (USD or euros Im not sure). The second way is going to a bank in your country that has services in Portugal and ask them to open an account for you. It seems people from Brazil might be able to pull this off. The third way I just discovered yesterday is Atlantico: a service that allows you to open an account online. Again, I haven´t tried it yet, so be careful: www.atlantico.eu/particulares

    Hi Julia - I just found your channel yesterday. Thank you for all the information!
    However - I think you missed one or two points -
    1. You listed opening a Bank Account in Portugal before you mentioned getting an NIF. You need the NIF first, to open the Bank Account.
    2. You said the FBI Background Check has to be Apostilled. I have been told by several people - DO NOT OPEN THE FBI REPORT. If you DO - THEN it would have to be Apostilled.
    I'm just beginning the process of gathering materials for the D7. I intended to do it a couple of years ago - then COVID put my plans on hold. Hope to be able to move to Portugal this year. I will look for more of your Videos!

As i am researching on this D-7 visa application for me and my wife (both are senior citizens) with our Pension and investment passive incomes and wish to do it on our own, as "consultants" in this area are pretty expensive and most of the cases are not needed. Hello Julia! Thank you so much for your super helpful videos! MY family and I are planning to relocate from CA to Portugal, and I was wondering if you happen to know the answers to a couple of questions I have about the immigration/application process... do you know...
    1) does the 120 days given for applying for the TRP begin from the date that you enter Portugal or from the date that the visa window (stamped in the passport) begins?
    Also, 2) I had some confusion about what to list for intended dates for arriving and then departing the country...as our intention is to stay in Portugal. Do you know of anyone who has listed their intended date to enter the country as far out as 6 months to a year out the date of submitting their application (e.g., if we had our appointment this month I would want to put our intended date of entry 6 months to 1 year out to give my family and I enough time to organize. And 2(b:) wondering what to put for intended date of departure when our intention is to apply for temporary permanent residency and stay indefinitely...? :) Thanks for any tips and I know these may be tough questions so no pressure if you don't know...big thanks though!!

    • @JuliaRochelleAbroad
      @JuliaRochelleAbroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Erin! You’re absolutely welcome.
      1) the date of the visa (which is the date you indicate on your application)
      2) I believe you can only apply within a few months of your intended arrival date. I can’t find where I may have read this, but it makes sense because all your documents have to be current and things change a lot even in six months. The date of intended departure is 120 days after whatever date you put for intended arrival.

    What about the NIF you need now in advance? You need that to open a bank account and since you can't travel to get those in Portugal, you'll not be able to get the NIF without hiring someone in Portugal.

    • @JuliaRochelleAbroad

      Hi Annette, thanks for the question. I obtained the NIF in person, but I came across this resource about getting the NIF remotely that you may want to check out: www.renovatinglife.com/resources

    Hey Julia! Thank you so much for this informative video! Like you, I plan to first apply for my NIF and open my portuguese bank account. I don't have passive income or investments, however I do have a lot of savings. I plan to put roughly 20-25k euros in the portuguese bank account in the next few months ( I also want to show consistency in the deposits) Would that be sufficient enough? or will I be still required to hold some sort of remote job?

    Family of four from US vacationing in Portugal. As head of household id like to get a D7 visa. Do you i have to travel back to the states in order to apply for it? If so, must my wife and children come with me and/or can they stay in Portugal?

    • @JuliaRochelleAbroad
      @JuliaRochelleAbroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to apply for the D7 through the consulate assigned to your place of residence. If you have an appointment, you will need to go to the US for that.
      Your family doesn’t need to return to the US just because you are applying (they would have to apply separately, likely through family reunification after you). But of course their travel and stay requirements in the world depend on their own citizenship and/or visas.
