the 166MMX version of this was the first brand new computer I ever bought , $1300 with 17" Pac bell Monitor. I ran this as a daily use from 1995-2003, put a 233 into it , maxed the ram out , changed out the sound card, added a 3dfx card, NIC, 8X CD burner, over all the years I had it. cool find

My first computer I purchased from Sears. It was the last Packard Bell with Windows 95 they had. I wish I could remember the model. It was a good computer and I wish I had that back myself. Kudos to you Roadgeek for making this compelling video.

I don't care how outdated they are, the Packard Bell legend to me is still my ultimate preference. I hope they dome back to the US with an updated version of Navigator, flat screen but with the speakers on both sides and a similar shaped monitor. The they have to add the cool ripples on both sides of the tower unless it's a single all in one unit then they have to round the back.

    Old stuff rocks!
Same with my PC in the basement that runs Windows NT 4.0 Workstation. And it still works strong.

I'm from Chile and I was so happy watching this video! This was my first PC and all the things you said were a trip to my childhood. Packard Bell Navigator (In Spanish here, of course) was so awesome at the time. I loved the design. Even those speakers, were in fact quite good for PC standards, I played the Midi that came with the computer many times and then I discovered I loved classical music, hahaha... Awesome video. I'll keep trying to find what was my first PC, maybe someday I'll get mine!

    • @alecday3775

+Esteban Cuevas I had that exact monitor thru my first 2 Packard Bell PCs and i do have to agree on the speakers overall sound quality. The bass was boomy to my ears but very well controlled, the mids were very detailed and the highs were very crisp and clear. they had a very good overall sound quality to them that i would just LOVE t ofind a pair of jsut the speakers in perfect working order so i could plu gem into my lemovo tower from time to time and just listen to music thru them cuse i love how they souded. I bet even electronic music (the genre of music I mainly listen to) would sound really good thru them. but i dont think they would hold a candle to my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1s however but they sure as hell would take me down PC memory lane for sure.

My first computer was the Packard Bell Legend 70CD Supreme that I bought at Sears in August of 1995. It came with a Pentium 75MHz processor, 8MB of memory, a 1GB HD, and a 14.4kb/s modem for $1800. I stayed up all night browsing the included Encarta CD encyclopedia.

My very first computer was a commodore 64 / with hard drive . I tried to do a business spread sheet on it but it couldn't handle the size of all the cells needed. I then graduated to and Intel XT 8088 with 512K of RAM 10 GB Hard drive Running DOS 3.2 it finally did do the spreadsheet using Lotus 123. I have been at computers a very long time and work as a consultant for software and hardware for small businesses. I have repaired many a Packard Bell in my day they were solid built machines

We had two Packard-Bell computers from Sears in the late '80s(?) and very early '90s. Our first computer was a Franklin and we became adept at floppy-disk sleight-of-hand changes. Fond memories of that era. This video has made me feel very nostalgic.

This is making me so nostalgic -- I can understand your getting emotional. I did too over finding the same Packard Bell I owned back as a kid. It's what made me love computers. Did you happen to get a copy of the Journeyman Project with yours? It was my absolute favourite game and I always played it on mine, along with Earthsiege II.

I'll also be honest, for being a game in 1992 when DOS was still prevalent, those cartoony graphics really stood out in their time. Living Books really was a pioneer with kids games in the 90s.
And that's not just ANY man voicing Grandma, that's none other than the founder of Living Books. For more trivia, his son played Little Critter.
That always bugged me when I was young when they just made the "3D" a selling point and nothing else. Heck, movies cash in on that these days...

I still have the desk my very first computer's monitor, speaker, mouse, mousepad standed on. The computer standed next to it. (Sorry for bad grammar) I just looked at a picture of me using the computer. I felt nostalgic. I can see most of the tower of the computer. I just can't tell if it was a multimedia or a legend. I miss my very first computer. I've always been trying to think which model it was.

That machine likely had Windows 95, the format number would confirm that. MS OEM licensing would see to that as well. That machine had to have been opened at one time to replace the CD-ROM and add memory. Service centers did have foil stickers to replace the QA seal when broken. Oh, and in its final days, my Force 1999CDTW did run Windows 2000. If you find one of those, I'd be very surprised!
I think I may have serviced one of those all-in-one units in the past.

Then in 1999 I upgraded it to Windows 98 and installed Microsoft Plus for kids because my friends mother had a toddler that often came over. I still have it today, and I have some internet still on it because I installed the last service pack for it.

Did the OEM Windows 95 CD that came with these Packard Bell computers form the factory include Microsoft Hover and the video clips like the video of Weezer's Buddy Holly? What make and model of sound card was originally shipped with this computer? Was it a genuine Creative SoundBlaster card or a 100% compatible card? I believe you said something about the sound/model card.

Yeah, about Living Books...you should probably know they date back to 1992, before Windows 3.1 even existed. In fact, they were developed on MACS, which is why they run in that weird resolution! (512 x 384, to be exact)

As of my age right now, I've never felt so nostalgic is my life about my old computers I used to have. I miss the Packard Bell Windows 98 machine and the Dell Dimension with Windows XP the most. I don't care if this stuff is out of date. Even some people in my family like my sisters and brother make fun of me because I like older machines. I don't care about what they think. Damn! You got a Windows 95 Packard Bell master restore CD? Packard Bell was my first IBM Compatible Computer. Before that I had a Commodore 64, And I remember when I first used the Packard Bell how I was blown away. The graphics were lifelike, the audio actually had the ability to talk, I had a 401CD with WFW3.11, and the game MegaRace with the cutaways just blew me away. I am glad you got your childhood PB, I hope to one day find another 401CD, my original one died and ended up pitching it way back in the day. Now I have 3 Pentium-Era Packard Bells that I love and cherish. Btw, any chance of maybe getting an ISO of your Master CD? ;)

haha that's so cool! I still have my original HP Vectra VL 6/400 which is a computer I used a lot in my childhood, but it's pretty beat up. I recently bought an IBM 750 P90 which is the first computer I owned. Actually I have 3 IBM 750 P90 but one is dead, one is broken and one is just the motherboard so I decided to buy a new one in perfect condition. So the only computer from my childhood that I'm missing is a Olivetti something.. From my memory I think it was an Olivetti M386/25 or M286... The only thing from that computer that I still have today is a broken conner hard drive, a broken 3 1/2 floppy drive, a 5 1/4 floppy drive, a keyboard and a part of the case which sadly doesn't say anything about the model of the computer...

my first computer was a 386 with windows 3.1. It was one of those off brand deals you could get at local computer stores back in the early 90s. I played games like math rescue and some crayola drawing games and some music games. My sister got the computer when we got a new computer in 1998. I wanted it but didn't end up getting in until 2002. But it sort of died on the way over to my room. I did manage to get it running again but after a month weird things started happening like the cd drive disappeared then eventually dos wouldn't boot then we got rid of it. I didn't really care what came of it at the time because I was given a brand new computer with an athlon xp processor and xp and I was too excited to care. Now I wish I had stored it somewhere and hung onto it because the knowledge I gained over the next few years would have allowed me to fix it
