Has anybody actually watched the video? This is a free demo being released in the space before they release Life is Strange 2. Think of it as a prequel before the game is even out. It will tell the story of a character who lives in the LIS universe, and will be a character in LIS 2. This fandom is great, but we all need to slow down a second before we jump to wrong conclusions.
I just want to take a moment to thank you for bringing some much needed logic and reasoning to these comments. People are freaking out over things that were already explained numerous times in the video.
Fantascape I like that basicly the first new Main character we met is Chris. Mayby he even is the Main character of S2 ot what if in S2 we play someone with superpowers who finds out chris gained special abilaties and we take him under our ein as a side kick

Joshua Belmont Reese he is. The Max and Chloe storyline for now is actually being continued in a comic miniseries which covers one of the endings. But I don’t doubt that they’ll visit them again in a game. (Unless this is like Final Destination And is an anthology series)
I can't let go of the original Life is strange. A new cast is going to be hard to swallow. Update almost 2 years later: lmao this comment didn't age well, i'm literally obsessed with Sean and Daniel, such a great game that was totally different, but so emotional and touched my heart a bit more.
Glad to see your update! I know there are so many hardcore devotees of the first game, it upsets me when people aren't willing to give the new one a chance. I felt LIS2 really raised the bar on so many levels, I still can't stop playing it or devouring every piece of Sean & Daniel fan art I find lol.

"You read that right - you won’t have to pay anything at all to get this stand-alone adventure that will also give you glimpse into Life is Strange 2’s brand-new story… but only if you’re clever enough to piece the clues together!" This is a setup!
The Almighty Spank! I don't think it's her son because this doesn't look like it's set in the future and in the trailer we see a picture of the mom and she has brown eyes. However they can share the same father and be siblings and that's why they're similiar. Or maybe they're similar for no particular reason xD

A very generous gift to the fans, and in my opinion great way to transition to a new cast and story in the LIS universe. My guess: this is a moment during the childhood of one of the main characters, who will be older in the actual second season. Can't wait to play this and the second season!
When I saw the trailer I wasn't really sure what to think of it because it's not what I was expecting at all, but the more I find out about it the more I'm falling in love with it. I'm so excited to play and it's hella cool that they have made it free!
This is awesome that Dontnod is releasing a storyline within the Life Is Strange universe. They know that we love the Max and Clhoe story and given this new character building up to Life Is Strange 2 will show that we can move on and build a new relationship. I have a feeling just by the trailer alone it will be just good.

Just a guess, but somehow I imagine Chris's power (if he gets one) will be telekinesis. Look at 2:58 - you can see he stretches his hand out and then the camera on the monitor pans to show a cupboard opening without him touching it in a cinematic fashion. In any case, I'm hyped.

You can kinda piece together from watching this that this isn’t LiS 2, but a related demo. Although it seems like something’s missing and this was meant to be announced at the same time as LiS 2 since they keep referencing it

I know the second game hasn't come out yet but so far, I guess this is what I've gotten from LiS 1 and Captain Spirit: While the powers kids get don't seem to be the same, there's some kind of relationship in this universe between art in some way (or Blackwell even), this region of the country (the Northwest), and possibly even some kind of personal struggle (Chris' abuse and Max's inner struggle with being who she is for the right reasons and insecurities).
This story is taking place in 2016 people and the kid is around 9yrs old. It's also take place somewhere in Oregon maybe around Portland araea or where there is snow. So could his mom be working in Arcadia Bay and her death is connected to Jefferson or the storm(if by the storm which means Bae over Bay) or something else altogether?
Life is Strange changed my life, looking forward to expanding the world. Gonna miss Max and Chloe, but it’s time for a new story. Intrigued by the notion that it will feature connections to both seasons. Cool that choices will carry over to season 2. How does this relate to the original? And thanks for making it free! Mathew JV Characters that are sure to live, like Max, would (maybe) make cameo appearances in LiS2, but other characters whose fates are choice-based (like Chloe and Kate) would probably be impossible to be even mentioned here. Also, LiS2 will move on with entirely new set of characters, so no, I think not. Cameos and references are likely the most we'll get to see.
Michel Koch said that neither of the endings is canon. You can choose whichever ending you want and import its savegame into LiS2 (or so I've heard), and the ending you've chosen will affect dialogues and game details there. I'm a "Saving AB" person myself, but I understand the reasoning behind the "saving Bae" action, and I don't think that we should dismiss a very significant part of our community (which amounts to about 48%, if I'm not mistaken).
Looking forward to this new free story. Always could use more LiS stories in my life! Also shoutout to Daniel Moloney for being rational in the comments section.

It’s not LiS 2. It is a stand-alone game and a clue to the second season.
It's like a LIS 1.5, the devs said progress from this game will transfer to LIS 2.

This looks to be set in the 2000s. The corded phone, rear-projection TV, lack of computers, the way the appliances look, it all looks before BTS.
