Cracking video of a wonderful beast of a mk1, with that unmistakeable mk1 hum driving & on kickdown, sounding as good now as it would of back in 1978. Looking and sounding beautiful for a bus that this time next year will be 40 years young. 5*
Not sure how long did MCW take to build the bus. Voith first introduced D851 to UK market in 1974: archive.commercialmotor.com/article/27th-september-1974/28/new-voith-box-for-buses-has-hydraulic-retarder
Learnt to drive on this bus back in 98, brings back memories.

Thanks! I thought that hum was because something become loose (which should not)?
Even the early WMPTE Mk1's had that distinctive sound when driving & on the kickdown with the retarder up to the KJW- W/X & the mk2's
As a kid, I couldn't understand why these buses sounded so different.
Reading born and breed, MCW was the only brand that lived amongst Leylands and Bristol VR's.
shame there doesnt seem to be any preserved Cummins ones.
macstar2010 there is one I think
B100WUL is preserved & there is a video of M1100 on here
When do they run these?
This was actually built in 1977? When did Voith release it's three speed?
