These are solid for what they are, but they compare most to escooters in the 500$ and under range and that hurts it ALOT. If it went 20mph for 20 miles it would be significantly more competitive. As it is, it's a novelty, not really something useful.
Had mine for a few months and have used it for zipping around car shows, short trips as well as a 20+ mile day trip. The lack of suspension is definitely my main complaint especially with how rough the roads, paths, and sidewalks are here in Hawaii. Recently picked up an aftermarket seat post and it really makes a difference being able to mount a large spring seat to help soften the ride.
I think its a nice vehicle for campus life where you may park quite a long distance from the building you're heading for and need to travel a pretty far between classes. This also aplies to some workplace environments.
I’d use it as a pit bike at an autocross or track day. The size is perfect, unfolding isnt an issue if it’s just part of unloading for the day. I don’t think it’s meant for daily use with the issues you mentioned, but to do a sighting lap on a race track or autocross course, seems perfect.
I feel like this has more of a cool and novelty factor. With the specs it has only having a 12mile range and can only get to a top speed of 10 miles an hour it’s definitely not worth a grand. This seems like it should coast in the range of 3 to 500 dollars tops for the specs it does have. If it had like a range of 20 miles and a top speed of like 22 miles an hour I could see it being close being in that 1000 dollar price range!
Yeah, I only just today heard about these. I *have* to drive to work, I live in a town of about 35,000, the parking lot is no issue, and I really can't see myself needing one. I can see definite benefits if you had to park way across campus, or if you got dropped off from your bus or train ride way far away from your destination. I also live in the mountains, and I don't know how practical one of these would be for, say, going to the grocery store, riding up and down the mountainside, even if it *is* only half a mile away.
I just picked up the Izip commuter from Canadian Tire last night for $429 will be able to save that in gas over a summer taking this to work, been ripping around the neighborhood cant wait to rip to work on it rather then having to drive my truck use gas for a literally 3 min drive.
Wonder why they didn’t even offer a suspension seat? With a lot of e-bikes, you can go in settings and “unlock” more speed. It might be possible here too!
I'M the niche. I'm a full-time rideshare driver in a big city and I'd LOVE something like this that I could fit into the back of my car. that way I can take a break when I need to and go for a ride in the park or along the water. My only questions are: 1. Does it fit underneath the back cargo floor of a 3rd gen (2010) prius? 2. is the handlebar stem on this more expandable? it DOES look uncomfortable to ride while sitting, but I wonder if a standing position wouldn't feel more natural? if anybody could possibly answer these I'd be super grateful 🙏
The '83 compo and the '24 compo Its like WALL:E vs E.V.E 😂 I still like the akira toriyama-esque '83 compo style imho. For anyone wanting that '83 future retro style but with modern electronics search out the Katalis Spacebar ❤
I have one and honestly, the suspension is my only gripe with it. Its a fun quirky little scooter. I use it a lot to go to stores close by and such. It does the job and I don't have complaint about that at all. Just sucks I live in New England our our summers are 3 months and only have the 3 months to really ride it
I saw this some months ago at my local Hinds dealer. I still don't understand. Comfort would be the only advantage for sitting down vice standing up... and it doesn't seem to offer that.
Its a mall/airport scooter! Convenient usage for mall security and police and/or people with disabilities who need to cover vast distances indoors such as a mega mall! Otherwise, just get a Fluid Mosquito scooter for the ultraportable last-mile solution!
Mall? Probably will get kicked out. Airport? Battery is to big. Battery has to be less than 100 watts to fly on a airplane. *Edit* Is way to fast to be used in a mall. Most of the mobility scooters has a top speed of 4 miles per hour. That is roughly walking speed.
Lectric sells a Folding e-bike that is the same size, same weight and has a 45 mile range at 20 mph for 799. This is junk with a Honda label on it. Its a cool novelty, but if you are looking for a solution with a similar form factor that will do a similar job for a decent price, most jackknife style electric scooters or budget folding e bikes will do the same thing for less with an all metal frame and far more comfortably. Honestly with the size and industry standards for manufacturing I am shocked Honda has the nuts to ask a grand for something it's competitors are requesting 3-5 hundred for.
This reminds me of what the sidekick characters from a Saturday Morning cartoon would ride. Definitely neat, but the seat would be a deal breaker for me.
A "cab" company started up in my area using these... Drunk at the bar, don't want to leave your car? Call them and a "driver" would show up on a briefcase bike, custom built from 49cc pocket rockets. They'd fold it up, put in your trunk and drive you home, then ride back to their hub. Dunno what happened to them
I understand the limitations of having to abide by regulations as a large company, but I feel like they could have done a better job designing this. There are many ebikes and escooters that outdo this thing for less. My 30lb ride fits in my backpack and outpaces as well as outlasts this thing for the same price.
i really don't think Denki ''wasted'' any money on this , when i am sure HONDA was pretty happy about sending him a review unit....and maybe a car to use in this video ? not judging, just wondering a bit.
I appreciate the compact folding design, but for $1000, you can a better e scooter or e-bike with more range, more power and speed. 15mph top speed and 12 miles of range is really bad for $1000.
If this thing was half the price and had a bit more speed (like a top speed of 35-30mph) then I could see it selling extremely well. Seeing it for 1000 dollars, while a great design, is just too much for what you get.
When you think about it theres an imbalance of price, battery range, weight, and practicality. If it were half the price and weight, it would make sense with the range. Otherwise, it is bulky awkward and heavy, and barely would make sense, because I would leave it somewhere Id have to settle for or would think is safe, and lo and behold, someone steals it.
I'm more curious as to why this thing is 42 pounds? It feels like over-engineering to me, especially when a typical electric scooter is faster, lasts a bit longer, has suspension, and 1/2 the weight, though less compact.
Electric Scooters and bikes come down to mph. I would not listen to people who owned both for years and brought the entry level long range models that had speed limited by law of 20 mph. At first it was nice until you ride it in traffic and up hills. The speed limit governs how much acceleration you will get and also how much torque it has. I upgraded to a 80 mph electric scooter and could not be happier! Got rid of my Segway limited 20 mph scooter.😊
This thing is a "nostalga product". I have a Jetson Nano e-bike that costs less than half of this and its got more range and is more comfy to ride. Honestly though it looks neat, its Honda, I doubt they sold a lot of these things so w/e. Cool little novelty but not practical.
$1,000? Okay, it's cool that it stores completely flat I'll give them that. But besides that, this is a botched folding e-bike missing the suspension, the gearing to make it faster, and a bunch of other nice things you get from an electric bike that can fold into the back of your trunk.
Most folding ebikes have more features, but this is not for storing in your car, it's for carrying with you on the subway. The target demographic for these things don't own cars
@@NextNate03 yup, but all the benefits of this transfer to an EUC, but better. They are more portable, longer ranger, more power, and for a grand you can get a Begode A2 that goes 24mph and a realistic 30 mile range while also being smaller

Two words.
They should have just got a Honda Cub and driven that in and left the car at home.
500 and under? more like 300 and under
Blasphemous watching you pull your Honda 🛵 out of your Toyota 🏎 which is powered by BMW 🚗

Large flat side......he should sticker it up with anime stuff.
I just took a shit. I should make it look like anime stuff.
As if the rolling briefcase isn't dorky enough...
That thing looks like it's straight out of the 70's.

Its always good to see a well kept stock Z4.
I went to a car show earlier in the year, and they had a demo/giveaway for it. It was pretty fun, though I did not win it.

100% why we wanted one in the office LMAO
Okay but a $300 scooter is lighter…faster…folds up easier…cheaper….etc . This is a gimmick

I think the real winner is the quality from your clip on microphone. That windshield is doing its job admirably.
Apparently you’ve never owned a black vehicle they show dirt way worse then white or silver
I was thinking just that.
I would invest in some seriously thick memory foam seat covers.
It's maybe $500 cool. At a $1000 you're getting into duel motor territory. $1400 you can get full suspension 60v 6000w 50 mph hyper scooter.

Love the compact size but there's nothing suitcase about it. I have a real different suitcase scooter and I love it.
You would be absolutely crazy to take that thing at 20mph. The wheels are small and wheelbase is too short for high speeds.
Should have got the “Luggie Scooter” or a “Honda Cub” and driven in all the way

This would be amazing for car shows.
Did anyone at honda actually test this thing outside their work campus? Have they even rode on the average city sidewalk?
I’ll guessing it’s not road legal and would take up to much room on most American sidewalks
@CricketEngland it's an e-bike, so no it's not street legal
I think the folded form-factor is the only aspect I see as a plus.
Silver metallic option would look good and hide dirt better then anything
I think, that's time to upgrade has come.
And a first thing,you should do, it's re-paint it,as a suitcase, leather one.
Then + suspension,and the sit.
