  • We went out to the West Palm Beach FEC yard to see the Brightline "BrightPink" set arrive at the facility. After stopping, the FEC locomotive uncoupled from it and ran around to stop at the north end of the yard. I wasn't expecting to catch BrightBlue returning from a test run. Enjoy.

Nice to see Miami and Southeast Florida have a decent rail option for a change. Nothing against Tri-Rail coming from Fort Lauderdale, but that line ending at MIA--for quite a LONG time--did not lend itself well for the commuter wanting to connect to the rest of the city.

+ChachaChapati Yeah. I've heard some complain that the Metrorail doesn't take them to where they have to go. Tri-Rail may expand into downtown Miami when this train starts service.

It is sharing the Miami Central station with Brightline! Hopefully that will be the start of Tri-Rail Coastal Link!

For the uneducated, I'm making the assumption, that these new trains are being powered by Siemens, Diesel Electric, 'Charger' Locomotives. Amtrak has an order, with Siemens, for a purchase of numerous 'Charger' power units

Timothy M States have an order for chargers for Amtrak use on state funded services, Amtrak did not buy any chargers
