    Great tips! If you are not making top40 music, I would recommend you focus your efforts on user-generated playlists and make sure you submit your tracks through Spotify Artists two weeks before release, this way you'll be 100% sure that you will show up on Release Radar. Spotify has a tier system for artists that fluctuates consistently, and they will not promote you next to artists that have a popularity ranking 15 points above your own, this is why it is easier and more realistic to push for user playlists. If you have any questions let me know, I just did a bunch of research for a video on this topic.

    A lot of this is great info! But want to give y'all a heads up - I had a song on Chill Tracks (Spotify playlist with 3 million followers) and it definitely helps but playlist streams doesn't always turn into fans. I definitely gained new fans from it, but I gained WAY more streams than fans. I think the biggest thing is if you land a playlist, run with that momentum and try to land on more or contact new potential fans.

    • @Burstimo
      @Burstimo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree! Streams don't equal fans.
      Aim for engagement on social media and a dedicated audience there and then the streams come in the long term. Playlists help with the numbers but also discoverability

    When I reached out to Burstimo, they said they were impressed by the music and quoted me 500 pounds for a consultation. When I asked follow up questions about their contacts in the industry and what the consultation includes, no one got back to me. How much in porcentagem was this SR numbers acceptable? Because this matters to be selected. Ex: 30% of skip in music is bad? It's necessary to low it to 20% or 10%? THanks in advantage

Make sure everything is in order with your artist before submitting to them so that when they see your music they can take you seriously, first impressions are key 💪🏽

    • @Burstimo
      @Burstimo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, think about what the CEO of Spotify says to the curators, he won't say "find good music" he will say "keep the users there". Which means adding artists to playlists which most people have heard and makes their platform a good place to be. We had one artist who had a huge TH-cam channel and he got added to New Music Friday just because he was already kind of famous

    The most interesting take away from this video for me was that they still look at your following. How do you break the catch 22? You don't have fans so get on a playlist, you need fans to get on a playlist.

    • @kamdoesmusic
      @kamdoesmusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Angela Bond yes lol this seems to always be the problem 😔

  • @cardinal_roy
    @cardinal_roy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Summary (please watch the video regardless, it is gold):
    If you check the releases on major playlists, you will see that only 30-50% of artists on that playlist are released through major labels. That means the other 50-70% are signed to non-major labels (good news for us!).
    This also means that Spotify is constantly creating playlist for emerging artist. You first need to understand that Spotify is a business, and the curators need their paying users to enjoy using the app.
    This means they can't put a bunch of unknown artists on the playlist, or no one will want to check it out. It is easier for them to have a good portion well known artists in these playlist to draw the users in and keep them engaged.
    With that in mind, Spotify will ask these 3 questions when deciding whether or not to add you to playlists:
    1. Can you build a fanbase?
    When the curators look into your socials, are you showing that you can connect with your audience? Do your reply comments on your IG? Do you have quality pictures of you performing or have pictures engaging with fans?
    2. Are you worth the investment?
    Prove to them you are going to consistently release quality music. They need to know you are worth putting on the playlist, otherwise they would give the spot to someone better. They need to know music is not just your side project and you're a long term investment they want to continually support.
    - For this point, you should release singles on a regular basis.
    3. Do you make Spotify's platform look good?
    Is your Spotify profile complete?
    - Bio
    - Good artwork and cover photos
    - Professional pictures

    4. If you get into your country's viral charts, link your audience to your song in THAT playlist that you are in. You move up and down on the charts, so the more streams you get, the higher you will be in the charts.
    Specifically for EDM, you don't need as big of a fanbase or social influence to be added to a major spotify playlist. Its more about your music and reputation in the industry. Look at collaborating with other producers.

    Respectable video once again, good food for thought considering the topic. Honestly though, i'm more frustrated with this modern-meta focus of how music now has come down to simply being "playlisted" or being curator-worthy.
    I think above all else- musicians and artists need to truly create what's real and genuine to them, and focus on the bigger picture- instead of playing grab-ass with Spotify (or any streaming platform.)
    Don't put all your eggs in one basket- because the platforms and the means constantly change. (I.e. Soundcloud, Record Labels, iTunes, Myspace, etc.)

    I must be black balled. Because I have my music mix and mastered by gold and platinum engineer and feature gold and platinum artists with 500k-1mil monthly listeners on Spotify time and time again and only get 1,000 streams. Only 1 of my 10 songs currently on Spotify has over 50k views. Hit 50k then stopped like magic only 3k since. I’m spending 1000s on mixing and mastering and featuring big name artists help ! And I submit notes to editors

    Would love to get on a modern / classical piano playlist.
    Can get on a café del mar compilation, bbc radio 3 but can’t crack the editorials🤦🏻‍♂️
    Any suggestions folks?

    So for example if I am releasing my music for the first time, so I shouldn’t request to add my song for an official playlist? And rather do it for my second release?

    • @backwoodbiddy
      @backwoodbiddy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You still can. Just be prepared for it to possibly get rejected. And make sure you continue to release and submit to their playlists consistently. Consistency is key 💪🏽

    spotify does not reward me for being consistent whatsoever, my art is on point, consistent music quality. My first ever track got 50,000 streams from release radar and discover weekly but i cannot seem to catch the algorithm again:/ very unmotivating but i stick at it
