From 1st September 1965 to 6th September 1965, 2 Squadrons of 20th Lancers regiment of Indian army, consisting of a total of 11 AMX-13s, faced the Pakistani armoured assault on the Chammb Jurian Sector. Despite facing a numerically superior enemy, and quite ineffective CAS by the IAF, A & C squadron managed to destroy 17 confirmed M47 Pattons for the loss of 3 AMX-13s, halting the Pakistani advance to the strategic town of Akhnoor. Maj Bhaskor Roy was awarded Mahavir Chakra, the 2nd highest gallantry award in Indian military.
Interesting fact about the 90 mm used on the amx: it was literally the 75 mm bored to become 90mm.its also the reason why it had a thermal sleege, because the walls had become a lot thinner it was more prone to warping
Reloading the autoloader wasn’t just tricky. It could only be done from outside the vehicle. Really not something you want to be doing in combat. Also a bit of trivia. It makes sense the French used a gun based on the one from the Panther tank. The French used the Panther after the war, using both German ones as well as some new production ones. Oddly enough the French wound up using Panthers longer than the Germans did!
video on the AMX M4 -> AMX 50 ( its numerous iterations of turrets and guns too many to count) development video next? i think its the greatest example of development hell & capability bloat of AFV's that resulted in about a decade of development where the vehicle never caught up with the increasing demands that changed drastically from the initial 1947 competition for a new heavy/medium tank, and eventually ended up being behind the times when it finally reached the final form

I don't think Singapore army use AMX-13 anymore in any form. yet the currrent largest user Indonesian army seems unmentioned LoL

for the panther canon its false, an historian from the musee des blindés told me that they where similare but it wasn't actually based on it
