    Mine started doing exactly the same thing yesterday just lying on the driveway. Worked fine 5 minutes before. I don't remember how long I've had it but probably 8-10 years. Headed to the store now for a new one. The balls are a mystery to me as well but never even noticed them until the thing broke. Thanks for posting.

      I finally read someplace that the balls act as a sort of muffler to dampen the sound of exhaust air.

    I had the same problem. The washer that is going bad is a steel flat washer covered in some type of soft plastic. I replaced mine with a standard flat steel washer and added a flat rubber washer from a sink. You need a soft one same size as the bottom of the tube in the handle.

    Craftsman impact little balls are supposed to slow down the air displacement from the Air drive motor

    The piece that you're wondering about how to get out it's pressed into the housing either hit it out with a hammer or you press it out with a vice

    Above that trigger is a rubber washer seal

    It really sucks how Sears/craftsman just up and stopped supporting the life time warranty. That was the only reason I purchased craftsman

      I agree, but I'm not sure if this impact gun I have in this video ever had a lifetime warranty. I think that was mainly for their premium line of hand tools.

    I took mine apart and have the same problem but I also noticed that I have no little balls in it

      Those balls don't affect operation that I can tell. I left mine out and it works fine after I fixed it. I think they muffle the sound or maybe provide a slight amount of back pressure. Maybe the back pressure blows the oil into the gears. Who knows. I have another video where I used a faucet washer to repair the gun.

    The balls are for noise reduction , no other function.

    How long did it last you? Someone is selling me a new one for 35 dollars, is it worth it?

    • @TractorMonkeywithJL
      @TractorMonkeywithJL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking my fix with the home made faucet washer? If so it is still working. I wouldn't pay 35 bucks for a replacement washer.

      @@TractorMonkeywithJL lol
      I’m talking about the tool itself, how long have you had it already? Is it worth buying it new?

    • @TractorMonkeywithJL

      @@jimmy38super2 Oh ok. I think I bought it in the 90's sometime at Sears, so it lasted quite awhile. The washer is what goes bad after awhile. I made another video after this showing fixing it with a modified faucet washer. 35 dollars if pretty cheap for a new one that doesn't come from Harbor Freight. I'd say buy it.

    Pull the trigger off, there's a seal that went bad, there's another guy on youtube with the same gun, same problem. By way he says the part in no longer available but check his vid to see how he fixed his. Here's a link th-cam.com/video/d9TiCEHxmNA/w-d-xo.html;
