Listen to the dark side of the moon album from Pink Floyd. It’s full of emotion and meaning and life is never quite the same after hearing it. I think you will love it
Roger's vocals reached a whole new level of emotional impact throughout The Wall. It gives me chills everytime when he shouts "mother will she tear your little boy apart?". Other songs with similar moments, One of My Turns,, Don't Leave Me Now, Hey You (after the guitar solo), Nobody Home, and Vera, are among my favorites. His voice is either extremely ugly (one of my turns) or beautiful (Vera) depending on what he's expressing.
Im so glad that around 6:50 you said: (I promise you, there's more to come with Pink Floyd, i am not finished yet... we are nowhere near done yet) I understood your promise, and I look forward to it. A promise is a promise. I can't wait to see you react to Pink Floyd Animals album, especially Dogs, Pigs (Three Different Ones), and Sheep. Pink Floyd at its best in my opinion, musically and lyrically speaking.
Absolutely right! Nearly every Floyd album does have a theme, but The Wall is an actual rock opera. The story of a mentally degenerating rock star from birth to death with all the psychosis inducing events in between. An absolute work of art that must be heard from beginning to end without interruption. It also helps the have the lyrics to follow along as some of the character's accents are hard to understand if you're not from the UK.
You really need to see the entire Musical, "The Wall" to understand where this song fits in. This is only ONE chapter of the Musical. In the beginning his Father dies in WW2, his Grand Father died in WW1. His Mother is scared of losing any more family members that she becomes over protective, building him the biggest emotional Wall to shield him from the World. He grows up a total emotional wreck and can not even have a proper relationship with a woman because of this mother. At the end he contemplates suicide.
I think this is the song that is like the pinnacle of the album. If you don't know The Wall is about a guy withdrawing from the world and building a wall to keep the world out. In Mother he looks to his mom for help and all see does is make it worse helping him build it. "Mother did it need so high?"
Im 60 and been a fan of Floyd since1972 , when my dad bought me the LP Meddle . The Wall is a biography of Roger Waters , his dad died in the war and he saw things that built a wall for him to get round ie Mother, School, loneliness, girls and fame and success which he saw as a burden . I recommend the movie of the wall , Bob Geldorf plays pink who is Waters
Wonderful reaction. I never get tired of watching people reacting to pink floyd. Still to this day when I hear this song I still get choked up, you've just touched the tip of the mountain that pink floyd has created. Well done. 🌹✌
You do know that this is a really sad song about how some mothers destroy their children by overprotecting them. It’s an unholy alliance…. “You don’t have to do anything, but you can never leave me”
That was a great review, thank you for listening to Floyd. For your next PF reaction I'd recommend going back to 1973, to the album that propelled Pink Floyd into the record books. I'm talking 'Dark Side Of The Moon'; an album that's spent well over 950 weeks in the US Bilboard Hot 100 Charts and earned them a place in music history. It's a concept album where Pink Floyd explore issues that concerned them at the time, from getting old, money, death, madness and lots more. For this reason I'd suggest having a copy of the lyrics handy when you listen or even reading up a little before each track so you get a grasp of what the band were trying to convey to the listener.
You are so genuine. Stay down this rabbit hole Floyd are musical genius with deep lyrics that still are relatable today because they center around the Human experience. Some of their best work is instrumental and their songs tend to be long but when you put on headphones and close your eyes and let the music take you on a journey while absorbing the lyrics you will swear a 13 minute song was 4 minutes.
A masterpiece of the firing of one of the bricks in the wall we build around ourselves. Just another brick in the wall. True and lasting connections between people are nothing short of miracles. Only Love has the power to tear down the walls without destroying us.
Grew up with it as a teen, always spoke to me... Thank you so much for this, it's encouraging to see younger folks appreciate the music I lived, peace Girl...dig in.
So, are there two walls being built? -- one by Pink (the main character throughout the album) and one by Mother? A twin obstacle, made doubly formidable by an obedient son and a domineering mother? Love your attentiveness and immersion. Many of Pink Floyd's albums are double-treats: the musicality AND the psychological/sociological messages are both of importance.
You Get Pink Floyd. That’s what happened to me. Pink Floyd is my all time favorite band. I’ve been a fan for almost 20 years. Keep reacting you will not be disappointed. Watch the movie.
It is one thing to listen to The Wall. However it really lost something without watching the movie? The movie is a very remarkable piece of work in it self. I have watch it many times and to this day see new thing each time.
I came to your channel for the Floyd. The wall isn't their best album but it was my first and was my favorite for years. I came here for the Floyd I am staying for yopu.
Been a fan of Pink Floyd since the age of 11, when I heard "The Wall" (on vinyl) for the first time. I asked for the album for Christmas, and got it, that was in 1979. If you're going through the album in order ( a really good idea ), then you're almost a quarter of the way through one of the most ground-breaking albums of all time. Dark Side of the Moon, in album order, is definitely something that should be next on your list. Then, in no particular order: Meddle, Wish You Were Here, Obscured by Clouds and Ummagumma.
So happy that you like this music!!! The BEST is yet to come:) Keep going back to the classic rock bands. Thank you for sharing your reaction loved it.
I've seen some of your reactions and this one felt the most genuine to me. It was nice to see you agree and disagree with the things he said. Just one thing tho, remember this song when you are a mother ;)
May I suggest Atom Heart Mother, Echoes (Meddle full version) and A Saucerful of Secrets ( Umagumma). That's the equivalent of Bach, Beethoven or Mozart. You won't be disappointed, I promise.
You're heading down the most magnificent rabbit hole. There's all the feels down here. You never, ever, escape. Once there's Floyd in your veins, you live with it for ever. I'd love to see you react to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond." It was written for a founding member of Floyd, Syd Barrett, who had to leave the band due to difficulties with his mental health. It will thrill you & break your heart, all at the same time. It is a Tour De Force, a magnum opus. It is one of the greatest pieces of music ever written. Peace, love & joy to you.
It is a powerful song but the one song on this album that almost brings me to tears is 'Southampton Docks'. A song about a mother watching her sons board a ship to fight in the Falklands War.
Lovely to see another enjoy the Depth of Floyd...lovely, heartfelt and Insightful...Thank You...SUB...and The Wall in its entirety would be an amazing journey for you...Then on to The Dark Side of the Moon.
My mother was never protective because i had two step sisters which she had by my step father but I always look at my mum as my mum my wing to protect me
Do The Wall album review in order ,it will make so much more sense, then watch the movie that stars Bob Geldoff as Pink" Am so enjoying your discovery of Floyd!!
Great reaction. I became a massive Pink Floyd fan when I was only a bit younger than you, late 80's. And already then I believed that Roger Waters was the best song writer ever. But growing older the meaning of the songs and lyrics from The Wall and The Dark Side of the Moon, get so much more emotional.
Great reaction. Please check out the LIVE VERSION of Comfortably Numb at the Pulse Concert (1994). The extended guitar solo and spectacular light show combine for an unforgettable performance. You will NOT be disappointed.
Run like he'll too but my personal favorites are one of my turns, the thin ice, Mother, Comfortably numb, The show must go on 2 hell I could list most of the double album
I love your reactions, glad more people enjoy Pink Floyd Ps. Never try to hide who you are for an audience, we are here for the reaction, not the soundings! Stay true x
New subscriber here - like others have said, the BEST way to truly appreciate Floyd is chronologically, starting with Dark Side Of The Moon album - do the songs one by one in order, than go to the subsequent albums in order: "Wish You Were Here", "Animals" and then The Wall (which this song is from). There is no greater / no more emotional band than Pink Floyd: welcome to the machine - Cheers!
The whole album is worth listening to from start to finish in one sitting. It is a full story. There is also a movie depiction of the album (basically all of the songs played out on screen with the song playing on top of it) that really drives home the thing that the character is going through. Though, be warned, that movie is trippy.
When I took my mother to The Wall concert in 2012, she was amazed but didn't really get it. I saw the original in 1980, had to go again. Roger puts on the best shows.
Welcome to the pink floyd family ✌🏴🎸🎼
This always makes me cry.
Same, as someone who's mother abandoned me and my sister at 3 and 2.
‘Chill’ is the very definition of Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd is not just " a band "
Pink Floyd is an EXPERIENCE.
Seeing people fall in love with music the same way you did is a beautiful thing to witness

Listen to the dark side of the moon album from Pink Floyd. It’s full of emotion and meaning and life is never quite the same after hearing it. I think you will love it
Bought it early 70's . Nowhere near this album . This a novel on vinyl. The wall is Tolkien .

Pink Floyd is magic! Perfect!
You should hear the whole Album and see the Music Film „the Wall“ ...thats a Masterpiece... like every Album of Pink Floyd! 🤩
best band ever lived
Floyd (all of their music) creates a whole world to exist within. Like it operates independent with its own laws of physics. It's amazing stuff.

Only way to listen to Floyd is from start to finish not bouncing around...every album tells a story!

Even out of the album it's great And yes girls frightens boys 😊. When you are a child and a parent Omg.
