So mature for his age. I'm crying
I'm rooting for Nathan Chen to get a medal in 2022 he deserves it such a great humble kid who is on the right track.
He just won an individual gold medal today
Well, your prayers were heard and answered. Bless!
So glad he had that redemption in the long program. He is such a great skater. He needed it personally as well
Nathan you will get your gold.. Keep your head up. I look forward to seeing you hopefully again in 2022
Hes so cute im so soft
aww that was so nice that Yuzuru Shoma Uno and Javi came over to Nathan that's so sweet
Now he is King of the World!
Nathan, you were made for gold. Keep on track. We are all pulling behind you. Love to watch you skate.
Luanne Davis needs more humility though. The media hyped him up way too much
@@bballClipss He is literally the most humble top skater ever, EVER.
@@bballClipss I didn't see that. He's always humble whenever in front of the press since 2017.
@@censoredyoutube4902 Since 2017? I've watched almost each of his interviews since 2010 and he's been humble all the time.
he still got credit for the sixth quad minus grades of execution of course.
HUGS FOR NATHAN!
Great interview. Just can't imagine not acknowledging so many of the forces that put him there, but I guess it's hard in that moment not to be completely self-absorbed to the point of Wow. Anyway, nice performance. Good luck.
So proud of Nathan! I hope you and Vincent can skate until next Olympics. I understand Asian family put academic as top priority but it will not be late for you to go to ivy school at 21 or 22.
Perfect House i heard that after he had done with figure skating, he wanted to pursue medic. What an amazing guy!
Nathan Chen's team 👍🌷
Why is Adam Rippon getting so much media coverage? He only got 10th. Nathan and Vincent got 5th and 6th. They both out-skated him
Am Ko 'Cause if i remember correctly he is the only openly gay figure skater....i'm also confused why they make such big deal of it
...well America is wayyyy too proud :/ They should have done interview with Yuzuru who is indeed a once a time talent. Currently he is planning 4A which has been never done before...tough challange.
Rein hard or go home Lol what the fuck are you talking about? You sound ignorant
Dana Lover Considering how homophobic America still is even after gay marriage being legalized, people have every damn right to be proud. Especially since he stood up to a homophobe a.k.a Mike pence.
Conversations educate and education evokes change.
Am Ko ... why? Cause he was cheated on points in Olympics but he took it in stride.. he did a prefect performance & should have scored in presentation ...his performance was beautiful
Plus he does a lot of charitable work & is in process of helping "gay" kids be at peace so suicide rates lower ... he took stand against Pence as he should have ...he was asked questions & he answered them bluntly which is refreshing
We are a country that acclaim freedom to be who we are ... Pence & Trump are trying to take that away ... proud to say I admire Adam
Now back to Nathan ...oh my he is one gifted young man ...along with Vincent
Exciting years ahead for USA
Just need these young men to get past rapid growth pains many teenage boys go through ...then watch out world cause I believe Nathan & Vincent as they mature body wise are going to be among top in the world & be even more outstanding than they already are
Great Mother grow the great Son.
The two japanese??? You mean Shoma Uno and Yuzuru Hanyu. Jesus. Get your information straight. Know their names for god sakes.
well it was nice of them to come over especailly Shoma who talk about him when at the japan media after he got got his medal
Nathan is really amazing! But I hope he will improve his artistry and lessen his quads to become a well rounded skater. As much as i love quads, injuries caused by quads are scary 😭
Nathan & Mirai are raising the stakes for figure skaters. I’ve got a hunch that you’ll see more women doing 3As and quads and men going for a quintuple anything!
Jarrel Brannon Mirai is not the first lady to do a 3A in competition, yet not many ladies try it. As for quads Nathan is not the only one with multiple quads.
And no one ever tried a quituple jump....
KseniaSemenovaFan I literally never said that Mirai is the only woman doing 3As. Just said she was raising the bar. Also, literally never said that Nathan was the only skater doing multiple quads. I just said that he is also raising the bar. So I’m just really confused with your reply.
He's got great skin
lol they... they should at least learn how to pronounce pyeongchang correctly
He played with the big boys, got schooled and learned a few lessons...He realized there's more to skating than just Quads...For example, having a tripple axel, step sequences, choreography, presentation etc etc. The sport is called figure skating and not Fidget Spinners. Best of luck for the future!
Some Things In Life I don't think he learned anything. He jumped because he had nothing to lose and barely had any connecting steps is not an endorsement for learning lesson and development of character. Us media is us media and Nathan Chen is just another athlete who is gonna fade into nothing because he is encouraged for underperforming for the sake of few kellogs ads.
Nathan is 18. His competition are in their 20's. How many 18 year old males are 'graceful' at that age?
David Barnett it's not about the gracefulness of character. About skating. And all his competition has it and don't even let me start on ladies skaters at 15-16. Who are so graceful and talented.
Nathan has improved a whole lot these past years and he is still growing as a skater and finding who he is. Can people give him a fucking change before dragging him down? goddamn
The ONLY reason he didn't do well is because of nerves, if he skated well he definitely would have medaled.
5 quads if it were the 90s would most definitely get him a gold but the standards had been set soooo high that it's not even worth a medal now.
mrKpooper4 it would have been worth the gold now if he would have had a good SP, but he did not and this is why he did not have a medal. As for the 5 quads, he is not the only one who can do 5 quads. 4 other skaters jumped 4 quads in their program. And also it is not only about quantity, also about quality.
KseniaSemenovaFan ... but Nathan excused them above the others ...except one by Vincent (his first quad combo totally beautuful)
Nathan came all the way from 17th (I believe to take 5th 😲 SUPER WOW) no one else has ever done that
Then in FP Nathan took 1st place with Vincent taking 2nd over all other skaters. Now that is something to be proud of. As Nathan has stated the Olympics taught him a deep lesson about himself that he took on & will never forget ... outstanding young men
They are some much younger than top skater ... excited about next 4 years as they will be past growth spurts & pain
Donna L. Padilla it was not to discredit his achievements, he is an amazing skater....
He may be the first to jump from 17th to 5th but Mao Asada just did 16th to 5th the Olympics before in 2014, so people said to Nathan: "he pulled the Asada" So not the exact same thing but similar
And also his execution is not above the others normally and for his FS he got 1st place, so total place 5th. Totally fine.
His scores otherwise not so much...but that' a different topic
@@KseniaSemenovaFan Losers can shut up now after Chen literally being the king and the best in men's figure skating since that Olympics. World champion and beating 2x Olympics gold medalist since 2018 straight in each game isn't easily discreditable by any fluke.
ily
Wow he looks more like his mom
What medal is he wearing ?
And by the way, where can i see a complete footage of the male short Programme
TYBALT.videos {[5]} It is Bronze from the team event. If you go to NBC olympics (i think .com) and search Nathan Chen all of his performances from this year’s olympics are there.
Beyoncé Knowles ah thank you very much !!
My boyfriend Nathan Chen!!! I love him so much!! He is just perfect!!!
Crazy Owl Girl CNCOwner oof you're cringey
Perfect = disastrous short program
Doodle Noodle Yes, I am extremely cringey. Get used to it. I am also the most annoying person on Earth. Thanks for noticing. :)
kwwyy Yeah, he did REALLY bad but I still like him. If he wouldn't have gotten distracted or nervous he might have done better. Oh well I still support him.
Crazy Owl Girl CNCOwner You tell 'em ignore negative people like that, I loved your comment.
The medal Nathan has is the result from the free program?
nope, it's from the team event
Pat on the back for losing
takochama Team event only not such a big deal....the individual competition was much more important as the medal holds higher importancy if its from individual. It kinda raises his value
Nope. But they surely should give individual medals for both short and long programs, making it the equivalent to apparatuses medals in gymnastics, being the combined their "All Around"! Ò;ô
kwwyy I would love to see you do the shit he can.
5 quads but not a winner
J Bee. His psychi failed him in short program. Mind can be a very hard thing to control!
Because he didn't do so well in the short
because this is figure skating still, not quad skating. Maybe they can create a new sport for quad now. I need to watch the skating, flow, spin, foot steps and everything too
His sp affects the overall score thats why
You salty haters are such losers! LMAO. Now look at your trash talk and should be embarrassed about your idiocy. He's been the greatest and the reigning world champion since 2018, beating 2x Olympics gold medalist in EACH game they competed since then.
This is why the US team sucks. 17th place after the SP is an embarrassment, and sending a US skater to the olympics who cannot performs quads (Rippon) is an even bigger embarrassment. For a country with our resources that dominated this sport all throughout the 1980s, 1990s and even part of the 2000s, this is just disgusting. US media, please keep treating these spoiled kids as superstars, despite accomplishing nothing (the team event is a joke, and they know it), and unable to perform under pressure. I can't imagine the Japanese or the Russians throwing a party for their skaters who finished 5th and 10th respectively. After a performance like this, these athletes should have been sent home the following day on a 5:00 am flight back home, and not be putting their faces on every morning crappy show. I'm disgusted!
Diana S
Team event is not going to be easy due of quality of athletes depending how much scores they point. Anything happens.
One more... you ARE disgusting to yourself. We don't care about your comments. Ok.
Diana S 17th place is an embarrassment. But to be able to jump up more than 10 places after a disastrous performance is an accomplishment. Nathan's FS was amazing and record breaking. I think he deserves credit for it.
I'm surprised Rippon is getting so much media coverage. He did worse than Nathan Chen and Vincent Zhou. Have to agree with you on that one.
But why are u watching this if you dont like it?
They all ended up top 10 since they are determined. Also Adam is 28! Ok, so he was never trained to do quads when he was younger and he is not in his prime anymore. Don't say they suck, your not even close. Why r u disgusted, u r the disgusting one after all.
You're disgusted, huh? Well, forgive these skaters for being human. They have all trained for years and years and years, with possibly their most career-defining moments compressed into a 4-minute window that encapsulates everything they've worked so hard for. So yeah, forgive them for getting nervous, forgive them for making mistakes. Forgive them for putting themselves out there, representing *YOU* in the international arena while you watch behind a screen. Forgive them for not being 100% perfect 100% of the time.
And in case you haven't noticed, it's not only the skaters who have somewhat faltered at these Olympic games. Athletes from other events have also struggled. The Americans have done decently and won a number of medals so far, but overall we haven't dominated as much as we have in the previous years. But hey, that's sports, and that's what makes it exciting. Things sometimes go your way, sometimes they don't.
On another note, where do you get the idea that these skaters are spoiled? People who know them would tell you how humble they are. Personally, I don't see any self-entitlement in their demeanour at all. If there's any spoiled attitude I've observed, it was from one athlete, and she didn't even make it onto the Olympic team.
why so bitterrrrrr
short race! LMAO.
How disappointing...
