I just heard him on Junian, Laura this morning, October 18, 2023. I love C.J .Jung, I bought his "Redbook" Libra Novus with an Introduction by Sonu Shamdasani several months back and been listening to others in this field.I had an Jungian analyst many years back when I lived in NYC in the 80s. I do understand what Sigmund Freud's contribution was also. Although, Sigmund Freud was an atheist and Jung was extremely more interesting with his writings. Yes, there had been a disagreement between them, whether Freud received the letter from Jung or not. The shadow is both dark and light. The journey of awakenings stretches within you.
    Thank you all again.

13:56 "ignore that which is contradictory, to dismiss that which is ambiguous, and to rid itself of what's possible through of stratagems ranging from suppression, avoidance, repression, projection onto others even to dissociation--all means by which the ego maintains its very fragile whole, on its own self concept and its own fantasy of self-control."

James Hollis is a brilliant voice of Jung in this time. There can be no light without a shadow.

34:11 "Our (American's) confession to the world is that we have done these things. We have to acknowledge these things, accept the consequences, and ask for forgiveness." Americans would rather subject themself to complete and utter nuclear annihilation than ever admit any wrongdoing. To expect otherwise is to be delusional, not to mention ignorant of history. In fact, this hubris is the very reason why, from the beginning of civilization, empires have risen, then ignominiously fallen. The American empire will be no different. Humans will never change.

An overlong introduction, but a very worthwhile recording for which I thank you. What Hollis has to say is so truly profound and helpful.

U must be joking....to my mind, Hollis conveys wisdom and deep self-reflection. Peterson embodies an intellectualism which is disconnected from both.

@@kirstinstrand6292 Well, indeed, even Jung himself emphasizes that the first part of life is concerned with ego consolidation, which is what Peterson tries to do. Personally it wouldn't have crossed my mind for a second to compare Peterson and Hollis tho, maybe it's a lack of exposure to similar material that makes one compare them? I've started with Peterson myself and at the time the things he was saying were very novel to me :D
