verrrry interesting parting message for dyche. it's something i've mentioned in this comment section, more-or-less every week, since the start of the season: there's something odd going on with dyche, i.e. he's had a very bizarre attitude that goes all the way back to pre-season. at this point i am a broken record, but he's had a very different attitude from last season and the season prior. i'm hesitant to be unkind and speculate, but i wonder is it simply all about him wanting to be appreciated by our fans and feeling like he wasn't? i'd love to know what the bee in his bonnet was, it's like an itch that needs to be scratched. and to be fair to him, he did a solid job in the point deduction season, but that's not enough to be adored at everton. we're 9 times champions, and that's not to say we're unrealistic about how crap we are now, but it is the context of everton football club. more importantly: you also have to be, and this is a bit reductive, not a d***head. and at times, especially this season, he really has come across as one. so, now that the new owners have come in and, it seems, via paul joyce, have let us know that he was acting like one, then it really makes me think i'm not being unkind in imagining it's all a bit of ego problem with dyche. a lot of people, outside the club, are talking about wanting to know "what's gone on" from dyche's perspective. and i'm not sure why, we already know what his perspective will be: i'm the victim of a chaotic situation and i did a great job where nobody was supporting me, everything was against me, and my players were crap and couldn't follow instructions. wondering what dyche will say about it is such a silly thing to wonder about. he'll probably just reduce it to "new american owners sacked me at burnley, and new american owners sacked me at everton" and then think he's got us all checkmated. i'd love to hear from behind the scenes from players, staff, and the new owners. because the friedkins, and i'm not defending them because they're massive republicans and haven't done a perfect job at roma, but tfg don't strike me as the kind of people who would be drama merchants. so, therefore, i can only imagine dyche was really showing his backside behind the scenes for them to a) pull the trigger on match day and then b) give him that cold parting message when, in fact, there were some things we could've thanked him for. i'm not bothered that we didn't thank him as a club. yes, i would've thanked him just because, at that point, why not just be nice even if he's been not nice? doesn't cost us anything to take the high road and avoid more hurt feelings when i can imagine there've been a lot of hurt feelings lately behind the scenes. but ultimately i'm not at all bothered. but on the subject of not being nice, dyche really hasn't been nice about everton, our fans, and our players. at times dyche was "complimentary" about x or y relating to everton but it always came across as insincere to me. whereas, the negative things he's said or implied always came across as quite sincere. overall, i'd say he's done everything he can to downplay the stature of the club as a way of playing up his own performance. consider that from our new owner's perspective, i.e. brand management-wise, diminishing the club publicly is an absolutely terrible and very unprofessional thing to do. american capitalists just aren't going to appreciate an employee in a prominent public position denigrating the brand. anyway! thanks for the podcast lads. wild times at everton as per usual.
Hope we do get Moyes but he only picked up 4 points more than Dyche last season with a team miles better than ours. Imagine the roles were reversed… Moyes stuck with DCL/ Beto and Dyche had Bowen Kudus Paqueta who should all be playing in Europe. They’ve got a left back capable of whipping one top corner compared to ours who moves like Tony Hibbert on the ball.
Dave must have selective hearing, Dyche had said numerous times that it’s the manager’s responsibility. Press conferences are all a load of political bollocks that’s just words designed to get clicks and make headlines. Cringe everytime someone says something along the lines of “oh he spoke well there” or “what a breath of fresh air he is”. I wish they bailed doing pressers and they just released a sheet of injury updates tbh
Just hope this gives us the lift we need on and off the pitch who ever comes in we've just got to get behind them 🙏
I think he probably did say he couldnt take us any further purely cos he knew the end was nigh & he wanted to save face.

He wasn't the Friedkins manager, they had nothing to thank him for.

Dyche said it once. His post match after Bournemouth.
