Its funny how hearing themes like this instantly transport us back to that time. I believe these old shows and their themes resonate because we used to be hyper focused on the shows we loved because there wasn't all the instant replay available. No TH-cam or TiVo so if you missed your favorite program you knew you might never see it again.
A special time. You HAD to tape it or you were f'd. We used to watch MOVIES on network tv - cropped, edited all to shit - and we did. THEY sold us tapes and told us to do it - now they charge us up the ass for what we used to get for 'free'. Network tv is so bad now...shoes like this can't exist anymore - the world is changed so much and not at all at the same time. Nothing I've seen in the last 10 yrs really can't match what we had: Alice, Barney Miller, Good Times, Jeffersons, Maude, Sanford & Son, Andy Griffith, Mary Tyler Moore, Newhart, Diff'rent Strokes, Night Court, Three's Co, Facts of Life, WKRP, Welcome Back Kotter, Alf, The Cosby Show, Wings, Taxi, Cheers, Golden Girls, Frasier, Seinfled, Married With...Friends, etc etc... I liked many shows like Parks n rec, etc but only AD season 1-3 was 'great'to me...then season 4 ruined everything lol
DJ Ritty AGREED! I watched and loved all of those shows, Though i'll add Fresh Prince of Bel air, Happy Days, The Brady Bunch, All in the Family, Mama's Family, What's Happening, 227, Becker, Roseanne, Family Matters and Everybody Loves Raymond. It's a shame that we don't have new classics anymore, though The Middle is an exception
Had no idea "Alice" ran for nine seasons. I used to watch it as a kid, and loved it. At its peak it was a huge ratings success, and received multiple nominations and awards.
Love Animals I did not know the show was as young as Me! 😂 Also did not know it was on for 9 years. Wish it was on DVD, but I heard on one of these Alice videos, someone commented in comment section Linda Lavin is the reason. How true is that, I dunno.
Yeah I bet Philip and Nancy McKeon have fights over who was on their respective sitcom longer, since Nancy entered season 2 of The Facts of Life, whereas Philip was on Alice during the entire nine season run, LOL!
seasons 1-4 were truly the golden years of this show. The chemistry between the original cast which included Polly Holiday was pure magic and they sadly never recaptured that with the two Flo Xeroxes they tried to replace her with. Regardless I still love me some Alice! R.I.P. Vic and Beth.
You're right. What always confused me was that when Polly was offered her own show and took it (who wouldn't), then after a year or so once it was cancelled, which ironically coincided about the same time "Belle" was removed from the show, why didn't they bring "Flo" back and rehire Holiday? I always assumed it was because Lavin was miffed when she left to begin with and out of spite did not want her to return.
@@TimsDale4ever I always felt that they should've replaced Flo with a character completely opposite of her instead of characters that were carbon copies. Shows like Cheers, MASH, It's a Living, Barney Miller etc were smart enough to go a completely different way. Imagine if they replaced Flo with a sharp witted, sassy, no nonsense black single mother from Detroit or a spoiled rich girl from Beverly Hills who got stuck working at Mel's Diner because she's been cut off . All sorts of more interesting possibilities that could've kept the show good instead of what they did.
Omg ! Tommy gotten so tall. I heard about 6ft 3. In real life he's the older brother of the girl that plays Jo on the Fact's of life. They look a lot alike. They have the same smile. I love this show.
When this show first started, it had a revolving door of producers and writers the first two or three seasons, when suddenly, someone said, "We're kind of losing the slapstick humor the movie had. Can we try to get the writers of I Love Lucy to work this out?" Sure enough, it goes on for about 6 or 7 more years before cancellation..
I love it! This was the opening for the final season. Very underrated show. Such a hit in its time, but where is it now? I wish syndication would pick it up somewhere, or at least begin selling on DVD.
I know. I stopped watching around 1980. Ditto Happy Days. Those two I watched religiously until one day, I just stopped. Preoccupied by other things, I guess. I was shocked when I recently learned both shows were still on until the mid 80's. I forever remember them as 70's shows.

I think people were more loyal and patient back then. Once you liked a show, you continued to watch it till it's bitter end.

RIP Philip McKeon (1964-2019)
I enjoyed that closing of the theme cut. She held "sweeeeeeee-et!" real sweetly 😊
Vera spilling straws all over the place. Priceless.
Apparently, that's the only shot they kept thru all 9 seasons of opening credits.
skinger skanger loved how it sometimes matched the music. Some seasons it did.
Aera Alice crawling holding the tray was used for all 9 seasons too.
Alice crawling holding the tray was used seasons 3-9.

@@CrossTraffic-uz8wn Season 8 just came out on DVD last week and the final season will be out by next year
Love Animals the 4th season was its highest rated season, ratings dropped after Flo left, but were still good.
Nathan Bush facts of life no where near as funny as Alice.

TimsDale4ever some say Polly left because of Linda Lavin, who pushed out Polly, because she was jealous of all the attention Flo got.

Karla Stafford no. Tommy has those huge horse teeth
How this show lasted nine years is amazing.
The new characters of Belle and Jolene added some freshness to the show.
This is the final season of the series and a great one to watch and I wish this was on DVD.
i absolutely loved this show! for the life of me, i never figured out why they haven't come out with the seaons on DVD

LOVED IT,TOO!
They started to play this theme 15 times in a row on certain people. "Torcher Tactics". People are ruthless!
@sneakerthekid It's still running new episodes!! I think their up to season 35 or 36 now.
Linda Lavin would be a perfect solo singer..... So Low that nobody can hear it.
Play it to the balcony, baby!
I love it! This was the opening for the final season.

This song is the official Gay Man re-locating to a new city theme !
Marcus in Mike tyson should leave the group in one episode and this should be his theme lol classic!
This is slightly speeded up.
It's not an awful show! It's awesome!
This was the best season of the show. I only watch Season 9.
