    March no more my soldier laddie,
    there is peace where there once was war.
    Sleep in peace my soldier laddie,
    Sleep in peace, now the battle's over.
    Your pipes have a beautiful tone, more smooth than the highland pipes.
    Retired Bugle Major,
    Bugles, Pipes and Drums of a fine British Regiment.
    Lest we forget.

    Great, I have borrowed a set in G and was not liking them much compared to my D...until...heard you playing this. Known the tune since a bairn and can play it, but not with your highland grace notation and am very envious of your training and skill to play in that manner - will keep on trying. Thank you.

      Not English pipes, they're border pipes from the border region. Same as how Northumbrian small pipes arnt English either, they're Northumbrian.

    I've been playing this tune for over forty years and will be playing along on November 11th. Would be nice to hear a harmony part too :-) Link to College of Piping not working at this end by the way :-(

    Very nice the sound of the pipes. Is it possible to overblow the chanter to get higher notes?

    • @pipervix
      @pipervix 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Yes it is possible on these pipes, I can play G A and B and if I try really hard sometimes a C. (These are pipes in G)

  • @RosssRoyce

    Nice! I never play my border pipes any different gracenotes wise ) than my great highland, I really don’t see the problem. And border pipes are definitely not in the English tradition- Scottish (reel pipes)

    • @pipervix
      @pipervix 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Scottish border pipes do sound awesome. These are slightly different to the Scottish ones, more akin to the Flemish pipes so it’s harder (not impossible) to do the full highland cravings. There is definitely an English tradition of piping it’s just not very well known about.

    • @pipervix

      They're quite a bit louder, but no where near as loud as highland pipes.
