Thanks for the heads up on the Weever fish. Literally had no idea what it was and honestly thought it was just some kind of little bait fish. Will be sure to handle them with precaution in future if I get one and try removing it even without touching it if I can. We have both been very lucky!
How they "operate" is to bury themselves in the sand with their fin sticking up in relatively shallow water. Waiting for an unsuspecting beach goer to stand on it barefoot. Nasty little critters.
I caught one 'foul hooked' the little bugger just off blyth beach last week. Wasn't quite sure what it was myself. Shocked when I found out. There's a short video I put up take a look.
go into a tesco or any supermarket and buy a normal packet of mackeral, cut them into stripes about the length of your finger and cut the fat off the meat side of the mackeral, put it on a hook and enjoy 👍

You were both very lucky not getting stung by that Weaver. It's similar poison to an Adder..
Thank god we didn't! Had no idea what it was.

@@KeithWilliamson-r7h hahaha too right! Could of been bad
Hi, whenever I get fish hitting the lure but not connecting, it's usually because I'm retreiving too fast. I always try varying the retreive rate.

Early morning just after sunrise estuaries are alive with wildlife. After a few hours things go quiet generally. Thats my experience.

Get stung by a weever fish and you will never forget what it is, serious damage they can cause.
I know now! Was very lucky and still cant believe neither of us got stung. Thanks for watching!
You lucky guys. A lesser weaver, and you both would of ended up hospitalised if it's black dorsal fin got you.
Scary! Thanks for the heads up, will avoid it like the plague if I ever come across another one.
