Tenchu's Songs were so Mind-blowing Awesome that I wished there could be a way to watch them over and over again . My prayers were answered when TH-cam was invented in 2005 and Sadame was the first video I watched on TH-cam .
I remember being so scared during the cemetery chapter years ago. To be fair, I'm still pretty much creeped out when I'm replaying the game nowadays. The eerie atmosphere, the undead's grotesque design, the gigantic boss, I love that chapter so much.
Thanks Chris. I have been trying with a lot of different editing styles lately. This video was me experimenting with stuffs. In regards to Tenchu, ironically Tenchu Z is the only Tenchu game I have not played, as of today. You can start with Wrath of Heaven, if you want to get deeper into Tenchu.
The opening song brought back so many memories and sent chills down my spine. I remember playing Stealth Assasins and Wrath of Heaven in high school, and it taught me to appreciate Japanese aesthetic. I always remembered those creepy robot dolls in the game as well. Thank you!
Good video man, playing Aragami 2 makes me went to this rabbit hole of Tenchu series with many of it's entry, makes me more understand about this one particular entry. Can't believe you only have a thousand subscribers with this quality of a video
Great video, I used to love playing Tenchu on PS1 back in the day...good times. I didnt know they had a multiplayer mode in these games that's sweet. Would be awesome to see a sequel on next gen consoles.
Anyone else remember a small youtuber who made a tenchu 2 video and he showed you everyone's story in parts? I had his video downloaded and now I cant find it anywhere online. It was around 40 minutes and he just explained the story from everyone's perspective until the end with tatsu when he fused the stories.
Ah another great game from my childhood. I played this game so much as a kid and it's truly one of my favorite PS2 games. So so many hours I put into this game.
This isn’t my favorite in the series but Tenchu is Tenchu and it’s probably my favorite action game series of all time. I love all the main entries. Quirks and all this is a franchise that’s near and dear to me. Now I have a 360 again just to reunited with Tenchu Z.
I agree. This game is perfection. I love every single thing about it. Combat could be better against bosses, but it didn't take away from anything. I love the historic japanese culture, lore, voices, sound design, story, strange old-school asian film styles woven into it, the silliness, the extreme super-natural elements, the stealth killing, etc... Once every month, I search the playstation store for Tenchu, hoping they re-release or make a new one. I will probably be on my deathbed with a handful of wishes, and one will be that they made more Tenchu games, and that they were as good or better than Wrath of Heaven. 🤞
You should definitely give a try to Shinobido Way of the Ninja (The best Ninja game that was ever create it in my opinion) it's really a hidden gem of the PS2 Era, you really feel like a True Ninja when you play this game, no debate whatsoever, in my opinion it's even better than the Tenchu series. ☯️
I've played tenchu 3 and 4 and finished the 4th when I was 10 yo as a little girl that was powerful for me and reminds me of my late uncle bc without him I wouldn't have known the game in the first place it brings back alot of memories and very incredible game I wish it comes back
mind blown!!! back in the 90s I was so obsessed with Kenshin and the soundtrack... good ol toonami. naturally i couldnt get enough wrath of heaven. istill have the soundtrack on CD. no wonder i fell in love with the music. incredible!
when sekiro trailers sneak peeks dropped we all thought it was tenchu. but its a good thing Sekiro was such a bad ass game, that i dowloaded rikimaru skin mod immediately on my first playthrough from start to finish.
I was obsessed with this game back in the 2000s. I loved it so much. I still have it and my old PS2, but after playing newer games like RDR2 it's just not that impressive anymore. 😂 the intro still kicks though.
I know there's a mechanic for moving the bodies. I remember the animations for it for each character and I'm not talking about return from darkness or the psp port. I still have my ps2 copy of wrath of heaven. If I had a ps2 I would confirm
AMAZING review! I Personally I have played WoH and FS so I did not have a great understand of the story behind, so I really did appreciate the short flashbacks! I want to include that the creator of Naruto was heavily inspired by Wrath of Heaven, really! Yourself can realise that when you mentioned Tesshu's special move! Finally, for a ps2 game, although the developers always seemed to aim for a PS1 retro style (albeit the insane graphical upgrades from Tenchu 1 and 2), most characters manage to feel very alive, despite their dumb AI. Return From Darkness is where the enemies become smarter though. Apart from that, you can see enemies idling, exchanging weird convos with each other, it's really funny, and there are some bits of good voice acting! Soundtrack is one of the greatest I've heard in any game, though personally I found FS's music more emotional but WoH manages to keep you in action.] Multiplayer in that game is the greatest you will ever find in any Tenchu game imo! Overall, an amazing stealth (ninja) game, which I prefer a million more than Sekiru to be very honest. Ganda is my favourite boss tbh xD
My favorite ps2 game, I'm currently playing the return from darkness version on the XEMU emulator, as it has 2 new missions. it's possible to carry enemy bodies.
I'd love to see a remastered collection for tenchu. Keep the good bits from the various games and put 1,2,3, and 4 in a single collection, preferably in the proper order. Fatal Shadows graphics. Wrath of Heaven Co-op and Vs with characters from the other games available. Story from...well the whole story though if you modified wrath of heaven to be...revolving around a single story as opposed to the two fairly different tales each character gets. If they added some onikage and tatsumaru missions for the Nefarious activities they were doing for the bad guys, that'd be a cool bonus.
Assassin's creed shadows is this game remade. Rikimaru is even in the game but as a kid. His grandma calls him Rikimaru by name which is the coolest Easter egg ever and the game instantly brought my mind back to this game with just watching gameplay alone. Ubisoft forward 2024, Assassin's Creed Shadows gameplay is a must see for every tenchu fan.
I'm pretty sure you can pick up bodies by golfing crouch and I think the block button. I know you hold crouch and another face button. Still remember the muscle memory. Edit: sheathe your sword, crouch near body, then press the attack button.
Picking up bodies are only available in the Xbox version, Return to Darkness. Also, based on what you said, you might be referring to Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Asssassins on the PS1. Because that game enables you to sheathe your sword, Wrath of Heaven does not.
Fatal Shadows does have a better gameplay mechanic than Wrath of Heaven. But, it kinda lacks the replay content. I do plan to cover that game this year, as a 20-year retrospective video.
Now is literally the best time to release a new Tenchu game, while samurai and feudal Japan games like Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima and Nioh are taking the spot. Hell, even Ubisoft try to jump into it with the new Assassins Creed game (tho it faces some backlashes now...)
animations on psp port looks diferent than ps2 version, is it true or just a impression ? ..... x-box version looks more prettier, is it just impression or is it true ?
Oh, but they WERE planning on bringing back Tenchu. But they changed the name to "Sekiro" after the game played too differently to previous Tenchu titles. (Unlike SOME companies who just slap a household name on a new product, regardless if that product is a new entry in a well-known series.)
Tatsumaru was best. I didnt like how i could only perfom one of his special abilities the one where he hits them with a flurry of hits i couldn't do the one where he launched the enemy into the air and then kicked them.
I am aware that Tenchu 2 and 3 are the best in the series (the PSP title, is not great but its a different take and very underrated).... But I believe Tenchu 2 to be the superior title, the story is the best in the series with all 3 campaigns connecting to one another and character development ... the only thiing that was really innovative was the Skills and "super" (mainly for boss fights), but those are still not necessary in the game ... the older, more restrictive controllers do feel more restrictive, but they also make you think ahead and plan your movement accordingly (kinda like the older Resident evil games) ... the maps in Tenchu 2 are also more varied and have room to explore different route ... Really aside from the controllers (which yes, can be a great point, but I go back to the RE games comparisson) and multiplayer (for those who liked it), but Aside from that and even though the game is great.... I still considered T2 the Superior game
Sucks that Tenchu Return from Darkness and Tenchu Senran aren't backwards compatible with Xbox Series X, if only From Software weren't such a stick in the mud about it
I really wish someone would get the rights to this series and give it closure, and also retcon Shadow Assassins for the wii out of existence, I did not like that one at all, it didn't feel like a real tenchu game in terms of gameplay (with Rikimaru not even using the Izayoi, any swords he used he had to pick up) something Tenchu Z did do despite being a spin off, and the story...omg..gohda's advisers suddenly being paranoid, Onikage getting kiku killed to make Ayame turn to the darkside, it was just so rushed and stupid.
MISS this series... I played 1, 2, Wrath & Fatal Shadows. Remake? Agreed... Would be incredible. BUT FOR GOD SAKE... DO. NOT. POISON IT. WITH THIS WOKE TREND BS!
Ahhh the game that got me obsessed with ninjas as a kid !
Opening songs for Tenchu games are all criminally good.
Absolutely , Noriyuki Asakura is a LEGEND
Yeah the soundtrack is dope.
I saw the preview for this on GameSpot back in 2003 and I fell in love with it.

OMG ME TOO
THAT FUCKING HEAD MOVEMENT
Urgh! I hated that level so much. And the fact that the sword you needed drained your life, too. 😂
i don’t think i ever made it past the second level but i still played this game every day growing up
Played this game with my older brother in 2008 I was 5 years old at the time.
Tenchu is my fav game series and this is my fav of them
Good work man! I've always wanted to get into Tenchu. Only one I've played was Tenchu Z.
Thanks Chris. I have been trying with a lot of different editing styles lately. This video was me experimenting with stuffs.

Tenchu Return from Darkness was the Original Xbox port of Tenchu 3 from Playstation 2, its for now Stuck on the Original Xbox
One of my childhood game, that opening is still awesome 20 years later.
Great video!
Thanks for the compliment. Absolutely dude, Sadame still gives me goosebumps until this day.
The opening song brought back so many memories and sent chills down my spine. I remember playing Stealth Assasins and Wrath of Heaven in high school, and it taught me to appreciate Japanese aesthetic. I always remembered those creepy robot dolls in the game as well. Thank you!
excellent content man, your video editing and writting has been improving so much. Keep up to good work amigo.

Well made script and editing !
Made me intrested in this one Tenchu game, will look in to it
Great video, I used to love playing Tenchu on PS1 back in the day...good times. I didnt know they had a multiplayer mode in these games that's sweet. Would be awesome to see a sequel on next gen consoles.
The nine kanji is called Kuji Kiri the 9 cuts a secret dark art use by ninja n stuff

My older brother and I played this back in the day. Hard to believe its already been twenty years, time flies.
Great video. I loved this game, still stands out in my mind as one of the best ps2 games. I wanna re play it now
From Software has been the cutting edge of gaming since ever man... Huge respect to them
Can we make a global demand for Tenchu remake? Like RE4
Dicoba saja. Siapa tau From Software akan bikin Tenchu lagi.
Need a new Tenchu game one of these days

when sekiro trailers sneak peeks dropped we all thought it was tenchu. but its a good thing Sekiro was such a bad ass game, that i dowloaded rikimaru skin mod immediately on my first playthrough from start to finish.
it's rumored Seikiro was originally going to be a Tenchu title but they decided to make it it's own game instead.

Jubei's Theme - Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams Soundtrack

Why hasnt the TENCHU series remastered yet? What needs to happen in order to get the TENCHU series remastered for PS4 and PS5?

I love WoH but personally I prefer FS and Z more 🙈
Up up down down left left right right square square square
Can't forget if you were an Original Xbox player you also got to play online over the internet for VS and Co--Op and can again with Insignia!
My fav is the first one, but the shinobi hyakusen version. I wish it was remastered just as it was but with refined graphics and better frame rate.
Return from darkness is the best ninja game ever

why do the graphics look so good ? pc port ???
It's the PS2 version upscaled using the PCSX2 emulator.
I could've sworn that you can move the bodies by pressing a combination of buttons including the crouch button
It's present in the other PS2 Tenchu game, Tenchu: Fatal Shadows. You move dead bodies by pressing crouch and block.

Tenchu had 4 games on PS1. Check your facts.
