For anyone who hasn’t seen, there is a dedicated video for Marseille. It’s a look at the other side, a story of an amazing pilot that actively tried not to kill enemy pilots and even made attempts to rescue downed allied pilots that he shot down.
Love the attention for the axis powers. You can argue about this for weeks, but fact of the matter is, the brilliance of design, strategy, dedication and skill was present on both sides.
I always felt the allied forces were catered to, and promised the best of everything, where as the German stories are more exciting, they fought not knowing if they could get supplies, ammunition, or even orders that made sense, and they just dealt with it like true soldiers, and I admire their bravery.
great design, dedication and skill but their strategies were very questionable yes they took over europe in a few years, but that was simply because they were so effective and coordinate, but time and time again their strategies were the key reason they lost the war, i mean come on, how can you push the british to the beaches of dunkirk but they stopped their tank advance and let the luftwaffe "take care" of things and let 300k+ soldier excape on civilian boats that had the time to come from england, very embarrassing. not to mention thinking it was a good idea to move east wasting resources and making it difficult for logistics and spreading the army thing. i mean if that doesnt scream tactical geniuses idk what will

FYI, Erwin Bachman was a member of 10th SS Panzer, and is, surprisingly enough, the ONLY SS panzer division to have been recorded to have NOT committed ANY war crimes. Unlike several of the earlier SS panzer divisions, the "Frundsberg" division did not engage in atrocities against either civilians or combatants. Based on its fighting record, it was an elite division which also had a reputation of fighting a "clean war." Postwar, the division had a very active veteran's association. Because of their lack of War Crimes, they were also the only SS panzer division to continue on in post war Germany, becoming the modern day 10th Armoured Division of the German Army. It would be nice if you paid honor to this fact.

Hey yarnhub! Why don't you make a video about Fritz Christen, the German soldier who stood his ground for 3 days and knocked out 13 Soviet tank and killed nearly 100 enemy combat single handedly.
The story with capturing sherman crews is a good one. Americans have captured German POWs alive and then survived after surrendering. Always treat POWs good because later you might end up being one yourself.
I would love it if Yarnhub did a video on the Monchy 9 of Newfoundland. 9 men of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment positioned at Monchy-le-Preux during the Battle of Arras in 1917 hid behind shrubbery and defended the town from a German force anywhere from 200 - 300 men strong for 11 hours to prevent a German break through. I think it is a very cool and very underrated battle that sounds like the plot of a movie.
It is worth saying Marseille absolutely HATED the idea of killing another pilot even one who was attempting to kill him. He was known for being extremely accurate and intentionally aiming to incapacitate the aircraft.

seriously, why is it like this they kill each other with no mercy sometimes, but when they’re wounded it’s like they know each other since their birth seriously but the moment they’re back to normal they’ll be still friends with like 2 or 3 more days or hours but then they’re back to killing each other. Very sad.
For once, this story was told relatively accurately. Only a couple of points missed. For example, the British accidentally attacked their own ship with mangeet torpedoes that didn't work, so they had to use older torpedoes. The Germans themselves sunk their ship and it was done by blowing up the bottom of the propeller tunnel. This operation was called Operation X, which prevented secrets from being leaked to the Alliance and the knowledge that the Alliance's torpedoes did not pass through the ship's torpedo belt.

well, it's sad that there are no Italians in a video that talks about axis stories. There are many interesting italian stories: the stories of Luigi Gorrini, Mario Bellagambi, Ugo Drago, aces of the ANR and "Regia Aeronautica", or the San Marco regiment that repelled the English landing in Tobruk (Operation Daffodil). Or the story of Mario Rizzati, an Italian paratrooper who directed the defense of Castel di Decima (Rome) from the allied advance, managing with his sacrifice to motivate his men who destroyed an entire column of Shermans. Or Lieutenant Rino Cozzarini who fought on the Gustav line, sacrificing himself with his unit. Or the 1st battalion of the 66th parachute regiment that fought in Tunisia at Takrouna, sacrificing 260 men to defend a peak. Furthermore there is the incredible story of Raffaello Sanzio, sailor of the submarine "Cappellini", which had a mixed Italian and Japanese crew, and was responsible for the last shooting down of an American aircraft in the Pacific War. Or the story of Teodoro Francesconi, a simple soldier of the 1st "M" volunteer battalion who found himself fighting in the same trenches as his father on the Isonzo line, facing a mountain war on the Karst against the Slovenians.
Not to mention, the naval battles of middle june and middle august 1942 where Regia Marina fought hard and stopped Royal Navy convoys in Mediterranenan Sea. The incredible enterprises of Suda Bay (with explosives motorboats), Alexandria and Gibraltar made by Gamma frogmen with the "maiali" (manned slow run torpedoes) in 1941, or the epic resistance of Folgore paratroops and Armored Division Ariete during the battle of El Alamein until the extreme sacrifice. The sacrifice of the italian Alpine divisions on the river Don or the unbelievable story of Father Enelio Franzoni chaplain of Pasubio Division on russian front took prisoner by Red Army and his returning home after the war with last italian prisoner in Russia, the last charge of Savoia cavalry regiment at Isbuschenskij, and more and more... until 1943 8th of september. I'd like to suggest Lt. Col. Charles Morris and the 13th Indian frontier force in Tunisia in '42, used his knowledge of Urdu to speak to a group of Indian Sikh POWs to explain an escape plan infront of Rommel himself and was awarded to DSO, or Lt. Royce Priest picking up his Squadrons XO after he landed near Antwerp in late '44 after the other man was shot down in their P51s

You neatly omitted the fact that Bismarck tried to surrender at least three times and was ignored by the british commanders, which is in essence a war crime.
Lütjens didn't give the command to fire. Lindemann had his artillery open fire on his own behalf, after Lütjens was still undecided. He told the Admiral: "I won't have my ship blown to pieces under my own ass!"
At 09:17, the narrator states that the pilot "has to ditch." Aircraft cannot "ditch" over land because "ditching" is what happens when an aircraft NOT DESIGNED to land in water does exactly that. What you are describing as ditching is actually called "crash landing."
The first story reminded me of my great grandfather I remember my grandfather would tell stories about him and his trusty p40 Warhawk I remember one he and his squadron of 4 he spotted 100 something Japanese planes and went after them and a plane got behind him and fired a 20 millimeter cannon at him he got shrapnel everywhere and got on to the wing to bail but he was like nope got back in and got back control and flew back to base you should do his story’s yarnhub
How the hell do you make these videos? The animation is great, and the history told is greatly narrated. Hats of to you for bringing history to the people
Hi. I made it all the way here to The End. My grandfather was a high ranking admiral of the Royal Navy. He was a master strategist who pulled of some unsung feats in both wars, saving Dover from obliteration in 1918 and becoming 1st director of Combined Operations in WW2. Something happened to him aboard the USS Appalachian in early 1945 in the South China Sea, when she was attacked by Japanese planes. Rumour has it that his lungs were severely damaged, but I've never been able to find out more about this incident ... Maybe you have access to more info than I?
It's difficult to watch Axis victories especially as the war was started by a madman but I have to respect a brave soldier, no matter what side. I can't believe all those Sherman's surrendered to such a tiny force. Bachman got lucky on that one!

Good accuracy.
Amazing story telling.
Amazing animation.
I like how the camera was like: where the hell did the german fighter go?? 5:47
Another set of great animations! Do like Hiroo Onoda, and Please Come to Brazil.
At 09:17, the narrator states that the pilot "has to ditch." Aircraft cannot "ditch" over land because "ditching" is what happens when an aircraft NOT DESIGNED to land in water does exactly that. What you are describing as ditching is actually called "crash landing."
Yeah, I made it to the end. Good story telling.
Maybe you have access to more info than I?
average animations + above average script > top notch animations + average script
who whould say that about your animation its great! i love how its evolved and it was great even at the start of your channel
It's difficult to watch Axis victories especially as the war was started by a madman but I have to respect a brave soldier, no matter what side. I can't believe all those Sherman's surrendered to such a tiny force. Bachman got lucky on that one!
