With their past tropes from their work, on the surface, this looks like somewhat of a self-evaluation or self-reflection of how people may perceive he makes music without putting passion into it, ie. making music for money/fame. With how honest and open Jon is and how self-effacing he is in his writing, music, and delivery, the lines where he outright says he doesn't mean it, he doesn't mean to be brave, it appears to me to be somewhat satirical. At the end of the day, he views the reality that either way, if you believe he is being earnest or not in his art, once his life is dead and gone, he and his music lives on as a ghost. And so does your opinion of him
