Just a shame. Compare this to what these areas used to be in the 1920s through the 1950s. Detroit has never really recovered from the 1967 riots. Thanks! Stay safe!
Makes me really sad seeing the odd well kept and presented houses clinging desperately on to the standards of a bygone era, knowing that in a few short years the owners who tended so lovingly to those houses will be gone and the house will fall into the squalor of the rest of the area 😢
Hearing the sounds of rap music blasting while you're driving through a sunken place like this is like the ultimate sign that the people living like this are okay with their condition since rap basically glorifies the ghetto life. Rap music to the ghetto is the same as gospel music is to the church.
I can't believe ppl still actually live in some of those houses! And so many of those houses, like the multifamily ones would be absolutely GORGEOUS, if only someone gave an f 😢
Detroit neighborhoods such as Bagley, Sherwood Forest, Palmer Woods and Boston Edison are some of Detroit's best areas, if the city does not straighten out the neighborhoods, the decay will just spread further into the better areas. However, the city is poor so money is hard to come by to clear neighborhoods of abandoned buildings that hinder redevelopment.
Money isn't as hard to come by as it is misappropriated. City officials enjoy lavishly decorating their offices. Building palaces while your people starve
The usual Detroit variety show, the empty fields are where blight was cleared. Seeing rehabs here and there, orange barrels, and starring: the houses of Detroit's Demolition list. Cool episode !
These Detroit hoods look worse but the areas you were in Toronto jane and finch ,rexdale may look nicer but they are way worse in crime and gangs I bet driftwood court seen more crime and murders then this part of 8 mile
@@Galidorquest it really wasn’t though. Gang activity is very strong now as well. Detroit isn’t really a gang city and it never has been. We have gangs but they aren’t our main source of crime
why in this place they don't design the cities like most other places where you could have dense/ mixed use zoning. so poor people could do basic services or businesses where they live downstairs like sandwich shop or hairdressing so poor people who couldn't afford a car can make some money instead of wasting so much on a car and insurance. and reduces traffic and increases a sense of community and prosperity locally and reduces pollution and cost of living for everyone. why design a city so everyone needs to drive far to do anything meaningful.

the cars are worth more than the homes, that's almost funny.
You’d see that a lot in the ghettos
thats america , there cars are very cheap
😂😂😂😂
Love your work Charlie. The silent neighborhoods of Detroit are captivating.
I've heard that where the blight is the worst, the city will buy out the few homes that are occupied and put up solar panels .
Your videos are a breath of fresh air, always enjoy watching
Why….? I’m from detroit…I don’t get how this is entertaining lol

Nice neighbors getting together having a great time. 5:37
A shame so many beautiful homes fallen into disrepair.
It's just a shame what happened to this city
What's happening now is even better.

They started with downtown, stay tuned until about 2060.@fornogames23
At the beginning, looks like the Building 🏢 that the TV Show 'Martin' was filmed in 😂😂
I don't know if Detroit has gotten better, or everywhere else has gotten worse, but the worst hoods in The D don't look as bad as the used to!
60,000 blighted houses have been removed since 2014. That's all the empty spaces.

The homes, buildings, and roads might be run down, but most of the cars and trucks are quite new. How many are stolen, I wonder?
This is normal in Detroit. None are stolen.
They live in a sh!t hole… but.. have the best motors?? … it’s like the gold teeth/gold chains, it’s called =being Materialistic?!?!😅
Charlie where been dawg I have hardly seen you doing these videos lately
I saw a video of Juarez, Mexico. A very dangerous town. But, just by the way they take care of it, it’s Palm Springs compared to this place.
Good job always enjoy work videos
This needs the score from Robocop as he drives around. That movie makes a lot more sense to me now that I see the real Detroit.
Thank you from Türkiye and capital city Ankara .((:
6:08 the kid 💀💀
There are still some cute homes with potential.
Horrible housing and decent cars. Trash cans waiting for city pickup in front of totally abandoned house. Complex things happening.
Nothing more _complex_ than cheap car credit 🤪

Lugares lindos, ruas largas, casas lindas, só precisam de dar uma repaginada.
New center area when they closed down the projects they sent them there
the city will sell you a vacant lot for $500.00

Toronto is not worst in any category of crime than Detroit. Or any other major US city. please stop with that narrative
Detroit was worse back in the 80's & 90's.

The design here is over a hundred years old. Yes, it's outdated.
Its not the poverty that makes people act like this
