I'm an Italian boy, I support Parma and I've been to the Castellani stadium in Empoli 2 times in my life, unfortunately I have to agree with you, it's a stadium that leaves you shocked by how old and botched it is. The worst thing, however, is that there are many other stadiums in Italy in similar conditions, and this for more than 30 years
Sei un grande!!! I tuoi video mi fanno tornare indietro di qualche anno. Vederti spesso allo stadio a tifare la Lazio sapendo da dove vieni mi fa quasi commuovere. Ti voglio bene, hai tutta la mia stima ❤
The Stadio Artemio Franchi is beautiful in its own way. I have a soft spot for Siena after visiting their on holiday. Such a beautiful city and a cool team which sadly fell on hard times.
I remember our game there in 2005, the pitch was super muddy and our players wore white. Absolute nightmare. Still really glad you made the trip Josh, be sure to visit next year when we play Champions League. Forza Lazio Sempre 💙🦅
I am a tifoso empolese living in Poland since the far 2011. Italian stadiums are horrible but unfortunately there are no money for rebuilding them or there is no the will to rebuilt them. . Clubs don't have enough money, municipalities or don't have money or simply don't consider stadiums a public asset, so no worth to rebuilt:it does not bring polls. At the same time big companies like it can be computer gross in empoli don't invest money in the rebuilding in stadiums, because it is not considered an investment that brings "value". When I arrived to Poland, stadiums were pretty much like in Italy. But thanks to a mixture of uefa money, public money and private money, they built or rebuilt beautiful stadiums in the last years. A lot of stadiums here are financed by big multinational companies, like ArcelorMittal that is rebuilding the stadium of Katowice. Arceloramittal in Poland rebuilts stadiums, in Taranto kills people....
Hope Bari wins the playoff final and comes back in Serie A because you should absolutely come to Puglia, it's an awesome place with lovely cities and the best food! The stadium is a little bit outdated but it's still very peculiar and really big, also Bari supporters create an unique atmosphere and I'm sure you'll fall in love with it. Keep it up Josh, forza Lazio ⚪🔵
Unfortunately, many of the stadiums in Italy are still under the ownership of individual municipal governments. Therefore, they've been left to ruin over the years because the individual local gov'ts don't really have an incentive to change anything. Plus, here the bureaucracy is a mess which prevents anything from being done quickly - especially building a stadium. Hopefully this will change with more teams owning there own stadiums and land in the near future.
Dear Josh all real Lazio fans "bleed blu and white" as you said one time.... It means that in one way we are Brothers!! And i'm very proud of this wonderful Brotherhood. C'mon Eagles!! Hope to see you soon next season in Rome.
Hi Josh, first time on your channel. I live betweeb Piusa and Empoli, so i can explain you a lot of things. 1) the Arno River in Pisa is the last stop because after that goes straight to the sea. 2) at 2:06 you ended up in the square in front of the Normale University, one of the toughest in Italy. 3) Empoli is indeed a small town, but is literally 10 minutes away form Vinci...yep, Leonardo's birthplace...which is smaller than Empoli.
@@steffanhuw8556 yeah but that's still pretty much double what empoli has and empoli are almost always in Serie A. While a club like Burnley might make it to the prem once in a while it's very unlikely they could establish themselves at that level long term. I just couldn't see a town of 48,000 ppl getting anywhere near the prem league unless some super wealthy owners bank rolled them. Towns of that size in England would do well to even be in the bottom tier of the football league.
@@lorenzonanetti330 40,000 in the English league would most likely be somewhere mid table in the 5th tier (I can't even remember what they call that division now. But it used to be called the conference).
@@lorenzonanetti330 for example I live in Preston which is like a smallish city by UK standards and we have about 150,000 in the city itself, with probably about 300,000 in the wider urban/surrounding area and we have never been in the Premier league. We have been in the play off final a couple of times and just one game away from it. We have been in what was the old first division though, before they changed it to the prem. In fact we were the first ever champions, and first double winners. But there are loads and loads of similar sized cities and towns that can't get into or maintain themselves in the top flight.
Empoli's stadium has an equivalent in the UK: Meadowbank Stadium of FC Edinburgh. Not only it's far from the view, but Empoli's away end remind us of typical American football stadiums made of improvised steel.
Italy has so much beatiful architecture everywhere going back hundreds and hundreds of years. Yet for some reason a lot of their stadiums look like the absolute minimum effort was put into them.
Depends where you go and where you wanna seat… but you should be fine outside derby days. For derby I recommend getting it online even if it’s a bit more expensive.
Please, i'm from Verona, an you come and watch the playoff between Verona and Spezia? Lazio is twinned with Verona😳😳 and Verona has the most English fans in Italy 🇮🇹🏴. The playoff will be played the day after the champions league final and it will be the last match of all the european leagues, many people from many countries will be tuned in🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍
Hey Josh I remember you went to a Dublin derby and visited my local teams stadium st Patrick’s atletic and said you would go watch a match there please do it is amazing ❤
The guest sector is quite bad from the visibility perspective, those scaffolds at Curva Nord look bad but they give you a better view of the pitch and the ticket is dirt cheap. Overall, I like the stadium and the vibe it gives, of a small town with big dreams. A pity you were watching the game from the wrong side :D
They look like temporary stands wtf 😂 We made that stadium look good though, what a season. Thanks for your support Josh, your a gem of a Laziale (I hope to meet you when we play a friendly in August against Villa) 🤍💙
Hey Josh, I'm moving to Brindisi next month. If I can help sort you out in Lecci or Bari (if promoted) hit me up. I'm an old cat and I'm shooting for every stadium in Italy..
Empoli società che nonostante rappresenti una piccola città, anzi un grande paese, da 30 anni non vede la serie C ed ha uno dei migliori settori giovanili. Gli va imposto di costruire uno stadio decente!
Hey Josh, You have already been to Bulgaria so if you do a new trip to the Balkans and see the stadiums in the smaller towns there You are going to be speechless for sure :D
you are really crazy to go around with the Lazio shirt everywhere. Lazio fans with pisa and fiorentina fans are super rivals.
Love how the "worst stadium in Europe" is located in a beautiful Reinassance town in Tuscany, surrounded by beautiful architecture and landscape

You're right Josh, i've only been there once in 1998 and you couldn't see a thing. I don't think it has changed over time.
Greetings from an italian Juventus supporter, you're incredibly funny and a positive person. Keep going bro
I appreciate that!
You should also go to Siena and start a 'worse stafium challenge' between the Franchi and the Castellani
