@@DistantMirrors My uncle, Richard Gorman Powers, was a professional illustrator, and he used to say that the reason why most modern art was so mediocre was that the zeitgeist and the “market” convinced art students that it wasn’t necessary to learn the rules before you broke them. His hero was Andrew Wyeth, and he despised Warhol - he was convinced that Warhol was the end of Western civilization. The music here reminded me a bit of the sounds produced by the Pentangle. You know of them? A group in England that took ancient Anglo-Celtic ballads and gave them “jazz” renditions. They were highly influential and worth discovering. You’d love them. Robert Plant and Alyson Krauss recently covered some of their tunes.
