    bro... number one fact about an f1 car is, because of aerodynamics the car is getting sucked to the ground soo hard that to help you understand , if you were in the tunnel and drove it over 200mph you culd drive it up side down , thats how much downforce its creating .. unreal !!!!

    Excellent reaction and the right choice of video to get into Formula 1.
    What makes an F1 car faster than any other race car around a track isn't so much its top speed or acceleration (even though they can reach a top speed up to 236 mph and accelerate from 0-186 mph in about 10.5 sec). LMP1 and IndyCar are much faster on a straight, GP motorcycles and a couple of other race cars beat it on acceleration. It's the insane cornering speed and ridiculous braking power that put them above anything else, and the amount of effort put in the aerodynamics which help immensely in this domain is unimaginable. She was more than right to emphasize this particular aspect of F1.
    Two crucial points haven't been really discussed in this video though: firstly the FIA regulations (International Automobile Federation, governing body for most of the motor race events) concerning the car and track specifics. They tend to change from one season to another, 2022 for example was a big deal, and determine how the car is going to look like, how much power is allowed, what kind of engine, which aerodynamic elements, their amount and dimensions, etc. Secondly, the pit stops which are also tied to FIA regulations and play a huge part in a race strategy. Can they refuel (currently they can't), what kind of tyres can/must teams use, etc...
    F1 drivers can take up to 4-6 Gs in cornering and up to 5Gs in a decelerating phase. A normal person would simply injure their neck in such circumstances and would never be able to push the brake pedal to the max. And there's LOTs of them in a single lap, as well as LOTS of laps. They have special neck muscle training to help them endure the amount of punishment they take during a race (the standard race distance is 300 km or 190 miles, except for Monaco (260 km or 160 miles). The number of laps is determined by the length of the track and the standard distance to cover.
    I won't even talk about how fast they go and how a single error can end your race, as you saw these cars aren't built so you can muscle your way through your opponents, although the car's survival cell is now as tough as it gets, thanks to decades of evolution (and lots of dead drivers). Even if there was only three deaths in the last three decades (1994: Roland Ratzenberger, Ayrton Senna. 2014: Jules Bianchi) it was, still is and will always be a very dangerous sport due to the insane speeds involved and the cars being open seaters. Death was kinda part of the deal until Senna's which was a really big one. From there on, safety was really amped up. Be it the car or the track. Every single season would see new innovations and measures to improve safety. The HALO (the latest crash-protection system built around the pilot's helmet) was introduced in 2018 and saved the life of Romain Grosjean in Bahrain (2020) after his car was literally cut in half in a heavy crash with a barrier. Would've probably saved Jules Bianchi's life too, and many others.
    Despite its inherent dangers, it is the pinnacle of motorsports, car technology, and the drivers are simply the best of what mankind can offer at any given moment. It's well worth to dive into it, and there's a ton of legends to react to:
    - Alberto Ascari (Italy, 2 times WC in 1952 and 53. Died in 1955 during the 1000 Km Monza race, Italy)
    - Juan Manuel Fangio (Argentina, 5 times World Champion in 1951, 54, 55, 56, 57. Record held until 2003, beaten by M. Schumacher and Sir Lewis Hamilton. In serious contention in GOAT discussions)
    - Jim Clark (Scotland, 2 times WC in 1963 and 65. Smooth driver, one of the GOATS who parted from us way too soon. Died in 1968 in a F2 race accident at Hockenheim, Germany)
    - Sir Jackie Stewart (Scotland, 3 times WC in 1969, 71, 73. One of the masters of smooth driving. Author of the quote: " To finish first, first you have to finish". Did a ton to improve F1 drivers safety)
    - Gilles Villeneuve (Canada, No WC, but largely recognized at the time as the fastest, most exciting F1 driver. His death in a race accident 1982 at the Zolder GP, Belgium, cut short his very promising career)
    - Niki Lauda (Austria, 3 times WC in 1975, 1977 and 1984. Nicknamed the Computer. Seriously injured and disfigured in a race accident in 1976 at the Nürburgring GP, Germany. The movie Rush (2013) was partly based on his story and rivalry with another F1 legend: James Hunt)
    - Nelson Piquet (Brazil, 3 times WC 1981, 83 and 87)
    - Alain Prost (France, 4 times WC in 1985, 86, 89 and 93. Nicknamed the Professor. Phenomenal and much maligned driver. Characterized by his calculating, smooth driving and setting his car mostly for the race, not really bothered by his position on the starting grid. Like Stewart, seen many of his friends and fellow pilots die or gravely injured. Senna's greatest rival. GP victories record (51) at the time of his retirement in 1993 is only beaten by Schumacher, Vettel and Hamilton)
    - Ayrton Senna (Brazil, 3 times WC in 1988, 90 and 91. The most charismatic, dedicated and fastest driver on one lap the world has ever seen. Not that he was bad in a full race, mind. Unparalleled driving skills in the rain. Tragically died in 1994 during the infamous Imola GP, Italy. Considered by many as the GOAT. His rivalry with Alain Prost goes down as the greatest ever in motorsports).
    - Nigel Mansell (England, 1 WC in 1992. Very aggressive, spectacular driver. Worth a reaction if only for his fabulous mustache)
    - Michael Schumacher (Germany, 7 times WC in 1994, 95, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Record held together with Sir Lewis Hamilton. Seen by many as the greatest of them all. Complete driver, great team builder, rain master and absolutely ruthless to the point of dirtiness).
    - Sir Lewis Hamilton (England, 7 times WC in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. The latest of date, beaten a series of records that no one would've thought possible in my lifetime. Also one of the most complete drivers, with an amazing ability to adapt to any circumstance. Having witnessed his debut, I'd never thought he would come this far. Rubs a lot of people the wrong way due to his activism and political positions. All the better.

  • @yankee313
    @yankee313 ปีที่แล้ว +144

    The other thing not really mentioned is the g force these cars produce on the driver. The drivers are super athletes. 5-G (5 times the force of gravity) under braking. Meaning that a driver's head (let's say 10lbs for ease of math) weighing 10lbs weighs 50lbs under braking being pulled forward. Multiply that along the entire human body, all while the driver is choosing a line into a corner, modulating the brake pedal to keep from locking up and loosing control, and down-shifting into the corner so that they can exit the corner in the correct gear to go the fastest. Oh, and while dueling other driver's in a vehicle with incredibly limited visibility. These drivers have to be in peak mental and physical condition.

    I also learned a little bit more about F1, I am not a noob on this topic but you can always learn more. I have also watched some of the electric car races, Formula E, it has only been out for about 3 years now???
    the crazy part about this race is the pit stops. you can not just add fuel and go... What they do is drive the car into a garage and park it, jump out and jump into a whole different car, supposedly the same as the one you were driving just a second ago and continue to race. so technically you need multiple cars of the same type for just one race. Is this the same as the original Formula 1 races? it is a personal preference, but those E cars are super fast, and really quiet. i found it interesting at first, but I said it back then, and I will say it now, E cars are not meant for long distance driving, so I can not see formula E replacing Formula 1 any time soon.

    Yes, it’s true. F1 is complicated and there are a lot more things going on in the background, that the viewer doesn’t see.
    But what makes it so interesting is: The more you get into F1, the more you understand and the more it sucks you in. It’s not something like football (or soccer as uninformed people call it😉), that you understand almost right away.
    It’s about the people under the helmet as well. How they are, how they interact with each other and, of course, the tension loaded rivalry that’s exciting like in no other sport i know.

    • @MikkoRantalainen
      @MikkoRantalainen ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, F1 cars are a lot quicker. When both run on Circuit of the Americas race track, the F1 cars did the lap 7.6 seconds faster. So F1 cars would be lapping the fastest indy cars from lap 12 forwards in a race if both raced at the same time.
      F1 regulations have a rule that if you cannot run within 107% of the time of the fastest car, you'll be removed from the race because speed difference would cause too much safety issues. Fastest indy cars get within about 114% of the F1 cars so they wouldn't be eligble to run on the same race if F1 minimum allowed performance rules were followed.

It's fun to watch a race and you can interact with the team you support or to make it more entertaining as they use a "fanboost"-system! So while racing you can vote for drivers to get more power on the track. So like in a video game, where you get a "star" or "symbol" and get super quick for 10 seconds! *lol

    Formula One wasn't established in 2022, You need to go way back to the 1920s as it was car manufacturers only time to let loose on producing faster stock cars.
    It wasn't until 1950 that a a racing body Federation le Internationale l'Autombile (FIA) was established so car manufacturers could register and compete in the races.
    If your new to F1 I suggest you start there as you can see the progression of speed and Aerodynamics that make what the sport it is today.

Nitromethane fueled Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars producing 11,000 HP and accelerating to 325 mph in 1000 feet in less than 4 seconds. Two of these cars make more power and noise than the entire F1 field.

The current engine is a turbocharged V6 hybrid and compared to the V8's, V10's, & V12's used in the past, they sound like vacuum cleaners. Part of the thrill of F1 was the sound of the car. Aerodynamic Engineers. Wind Tunnel engineers, and administration and Logistics. Watch the video on F1 Logistics and transporting this road show from race to race, country to country, set up and tear down all those trailers and cars that have to cross countries, oceans to get from race to race is mind boggling. All the teams have to do this and with cost caps for each team. F1 has spawned movies and TV series. Drivers are stars. team managers the problem solvers and tacticians. Get it right and you win races, get it wrong and the villain in F1 World.
